The area (featured in a wonderful children's book, Smith, by Leon Garfield, btw) has enough to keep one busy and intrigued without ever leaving the neighbourhood. That said, it is also very well served by tube and bus to the west end, the south bank or wherever else one is headed. My goal was to feel as though I lived in London for five weeks and this flat did it! A cozy place to return to after a busy day, perfectly feasible to cook and eat at home (the well-equipped kitchen actually had good knives, when does that ever happen in a rental?) and we had very lucky weather so the deck got lots of use. Thoughtful touches like board games, a drying rack with clothes pins, hot water bottles, a good book selection and a yoga mat. All appreciated. Amazingly quiet for being in the centre of everything. Communication with the owner was easy. This was a dream holiday.
One thing only. It needs a folding step-stool. To get to the higher kitchen cupboards I was standing on a kitchen chair which wasn't good for the chair and not really safe. The stool could live in the corner next to the brush and dust-pan at the deck door.
