Overview

About the property

Adorable Two Bedroom Home With Huge Yard On Lake Whatcom

The Sunshine House is located on Lake Whatcom's more private South Bay. Originally built 100 years ago as an office for a local coal mining company this 2 bedroom home has just been completely restored to a cozy, comfortable lakeside retreat with tons of character. We have created a space perfect for the most romantic getaways or a simple fun family escape.

Each of the 2 bedrooms sleeps four. One room has a queen and a bunk bed and the other has a full and a bunk bed. In addition the living room sofa has a queen sized pull out bed.

Private dock to accommodate your boat and boat launch less then a minute down the road.

The bay is a no-wake zone which makes it great for swimming and paddle sports. A short idle out of the bay lends to great wake boarding, tubing and all other water sports.

The Sunshine House is only a 25 minute (beautiful!) drive to Bellingham which has great antique stores, amazing restaurants, whale watching tours, and at least 9 local breweries (they keep opening up!).

There is beautiful hiking all around us. Stimpson Family Trail (only 10 mins away) and The Pacific Crest Trail (20 mins) are just two great examples.

Mountain biking is one of Bellingham locals favorite activities and it is apparent when you ride up Galbraith Mountain, only 10 to 15 mins away!

Mt. Baker, which holds the world record for the most snow in one year, is only 38 miles away.

We have tons of fun parks including, Lake Padden, Whatcom Falls Park and Boulevard Park.

AND SO MUCH MORE!

Oasis by the Lake!

  • 5 of 5

What a fabulous place to stay at Lake Whatcom! We had such a lovely experience at the Cottage! The house is perfectly maintained... clean, charming, great natural light and provides all you need for a perfect get-away! My daughter graduated from WWU and it provided a nice retreat from all the action in town. We had a great BBQ (on their new BBQ) and enjoyed the serenity of the lake as we sat around the fire pit. We enjoyed the canoe and kayaks and saw more than a couple rainbows! The charm of the cottage has been maintained and the owners did a great job of keeping with the style with their upgrades! We definitely want to come back! Thank you Amanda and Chad!!

Memories made!

  • 5 of 5

We had such an amazing stay at this charming house on the lake. We were celebrating Mother's Day and my nephew's first birthday. We went canoeing, kayaking, had fires with s'mores, played board games, ping pong, bbq'd and of course fishing! Such fun family memories made here! Chad and Amanda have done a fantastic job on thinking of everything you would need in the house. We were set. The beds were super comfy and there was everything we needed in the kitchen to prepare our feast. We would definitely love to stay here again and will highly recommend it to friends and family. Thank you for everything!

Such a charming place & the perfect weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

I hosted a low key Bachelorette weekend with 5 other ladies, and we could not have asked for anything more. It was perfect. There were 6 of us total, which meant that we all got our own beds with room to spare. The cottage is quite possibly the cutest place I have ever stayed, down to the last detail (my personal favorite was the ceramic cat that was a spitting image of my own kitty). We were lucky to get sunshine during our stay, and the porch was the perfect place to soak it up with our morning coffee. Even though there are neighbors on either side, it feels very secluded. It was actually nice having neighbors right there though- one neighbor brought free firewood over to us! The cottage is a quick drive into town and to some local hikes. And the DVD selection was on point. I just wish we could have stayed longer! I will definitely remember this place for future weekends away! Thank you for putting such care into it :)

Awesome Location, Great House - Highly Recommended!

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful place we were lucky to find to spend our spring break! Plenty of space for 2 moms and 7 kids. The house is so cute, nicely decorated and has wonderful upgrades. We appreciated the fully equipped kitchen and made good use of it making meals during our stay. All the extra touches really make this place special! Plenty of extra linens and towels, stocked kitchen, movies and games for the kids. The location can't be beat, driving distance to a lot of great day trips. We took the ferry to San Juan Island, checked out Deception Pass and Whidbey Island, and enjoyed the Tulip Festival. The kids most enjoyed the fire pit and making s'mores and the mom's loved the peace of the lake. We would definitely come back! Thank you for having us!

Beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful cottage with lots of character, still fairly close to Bellingham & LaConner. In between rain storms we spent some time on the lake, too. All around a great place in a great location.

Warm and beautiful home on a quiet lake

  • 5 of 5

This house was the perfect location for a weekend family getaway. The kitchen is equipped well enough to host dinner at home. The lake is beautiful and secluded. The house is conveniently located to allow a day trip to Friday Harbor, and secluded enough to feel like we were "out at the lake". My fiancé and I showed up last and were relegated to the pull out couch, notorious for a bad nights sleep, but we were pleasantly surprised by home comfortable we were! This house could not be better. It was the perfect place to stay for our weekend with family. Thank you to our wonderful hosts!
