Chickens, ducks, goats roaming with boating, swimming and fishing on the lake.

The home was designed to take in the full aspect of the very beautiful lake, all rooms except for the 4th bedroom have lake views. The Lodge has a lot of sunlight due to the many windows and also very airy, has a lovely feeling, once you enter you get a very warm and lively feeling to the home.

Activities, amenities and points of interest at Lake Coma

Walking, running, biking

We have many beautiful trails around the lake and throughout our 18 acres, perfect for a leisurely walk or a serious mountain bike work out. The Forgotten Trail is an over grown trail tunnel that we discovered by accident some years ago, fun at night in the dark.

Fishing, swimming, boating

Our 3.2 acre lake was originally built for a fishing lodge and is well stocked with some really large fish, you are welcome to fish your heart out and we have a paddle boat and canoe at your disposal too.

Two docks offer a lovely place to relax on the water and also offers easy access for swimmers.

Hot Tub, Fire Pit, Covered Bridge

We have a 4 person Caldera Hot Tub located next to the home and on the lower floor over looking the lake. The Hot Tub is especially wonderful when the temperature drops in the mountains.

Asheville has a wonderful 4 season climate and enjoys many beautiful clear days and starry nights. The Hot Tub has been a favorite by family and friends when the kids swim in the cool lake and then jump in the hot tub.

Fire Pit

We have a large fire pit which has fire wood.

Our cottage guest have enjoyed numerous nights by the fire pit and it is also right on the lake.

A fun evening activity for the family, don't forget the marshmellows, if you do we have some.

Covered Bridge

We have covered bridge with a picnic table over looking the lake, a great spot to just relax or have a picnic.

Chicken Coup

We have 2 chickens and 16 chicklets. We get a few eggs from the 2 chickens and hope for more from the chicklets. You are welcome to the fresh eggs!

An Unforgetable Place

  • 5 of 5

Our week stay at Rumi's place was far beyond our expectations. The home accomodated 13 of us comfortably. The 7 kids loved and enjoyed the lake, the chickens, the goats, the rabbits and beautiful birds. We cooked, we sang, we laughed and made great friends! We loved this place. We take home unforgetable memories and awesome pictures. Highly recommended!

Owner's Response: Our only requirement from our guests is that they have a wonderful time. Some how you and your lovely family and friends have managed to totally exceed this. We bought this property because we loved so many wonderful aspects and you all seemed to enjoy every thing we had to offer. Thank you for the memories.

Terrific Place, remodeled and well maintained, easy access to many attractions

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely trip over the Christmas Holiday season. We had 10 people staying there from 3 generations. The space accommodated all generations. It was accessible for the older generation, and a fun space with many activities for the younger generation. 5 nice bedrooms with plenty of beds, clean, remodeled and well kept. The space would accommodate even more guests. The open kitchen/dining/living space is terrific for large gatherings. We had additional guests for meals and easily accommodated 16+ people for happy, family meals. The kitchen was wonderful for meal preparation. Our visit was during a cold snap, so we did not leverage the porch or other spaces, but they look terrific for warmer weather. We had a roaring fire and great support from Rumi and Brett for anything we needed. We loved our trip and recommend the lodge very highly.

Great location, and property!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed there this fall for our annual trip to the Asheville area. Has a feeling of seclusion, but only 15-20 min drive from Asheville. Great house, lots of beds, spacious enough for large group. Big home on a little lake w chickens goats and rabbits in the yard. The host was very accommodating, and helpful with each and every request we had. Definitely consider a return trip next year! Thanks Rumi!

Thanksgiving Family Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Just the experience we were looking for- scenic lake, wood burning fireplace, screened in terrace, large kitchen for family gathering, close to stores and restaurants. Chickens, rabbits, goats and ducks for the children to feed. Owner was very attentive and helpful.

It met our needs.

  • 3 of 5

We rented this property for 10 family members while attending a wedding in Asheville, Oct. 13-18, 2017.

The men in the group wanted to be able to fish and they were able to do that from the dock at the back of the house. They caught fish (bass and blue gill) every day we were there. We didn’t eat the fish, just caught them and let them go. The setting was peaceful, but the house is in the flight path of the airport so you will see and hear planes flying overhead on occasion.

The house was about 20 minutes from downtown Asheville with no traffic. However, if trying to get downtown during rush hour, either on 26 or the back road, you could spend up to 45 minutes in traffic.

The pictures of the exterior of the house were obviously taken several years ago since the bushes along the steps leading down to the lake are now overgrown. The exterior is not as well maintained as the interior. The Covered bridge (page 3) was covered with leaves and obviously hadn’t been used in a while.

It was nice to be able to sit outside on the dock, fish, and walk around the pond – four times around the pond is probably a mile.

The interior pictures of the house are accurate. While not immaculate, the house was clean. However, the high windows in the living room and master bedroom need to be cleaned inside and out. I have no idea what room is shown on page 23. That room was not inside the house we rented.

The house was well stocked with cooking utensils, but we really didn’t use them. Mostly we ate out at the nearby restaurants.

The master bedroom is on the ground floor, the other 4 bedrooms are downstairs as is the washer and dryer. It was nice that the washer and dryer were there so we could wash the towels as needed. The master bed was comfortable.

There was an occasional “chirping” sound like a low battery in the smoke detector that we heard for a couple of nights. I reported it, but it wasn’t fixed before we left.

Next to the house, there is a pen for goats, chickens and a couple of dogs. They did not bother us during our stay. Evidently you can walk the dogs or goats or collect eggs from the chickens, but we did not.
