Beautiful but wouldn't stay there again
When booking the property through VRBO, the property seemed perfect; it looked and sounded beautiful. The site stated amenities that we were looking for in a villa such as a pool, washer/dryer, kayak/canoe, and close access to a beach.This is what we actually got…Driving through the town there were numerous vacant/abandoned properties riddled with graffiti and packs of dogs roaming the streets. As we followed signs directing us to the villa, we were met with 2 VERY steep hills we had to conquer just to get up to where it was. Once we reached the villa, it was what we saw on VRBO, beautiful and immaculate with an amazing view of the bay. The owners greeted us and oriented us to their home and were very warm and kind. After they left us, we took a look around. There was no washer/dryer or kayak/canoe and the beach was a long walk through brush many meters away. The kitchen was modern and stocked but all the upper cabinets were locked so we only had access to the lowers. Other details that were omitted from the description were the actual House Rules and the fact that there was a children’s camp down the hill so daily until 11 pm you could hear singing, cheering and screaming ALL DAY LONG. The House Rules stated that there was “quiet time” from 1500-1700 and 2400-0800 and if you wanted laundry done it cost 20 euro. The AC unit in my kid’s bedroom did not work the entire time we were there as the part was on order. Also, whenever we tried to cook something there would be power surges constantly. This was fixed towards the end of our stay. The owners were a constant presence because they lived downstairs. This was a positive and a negative. They were around when we had issues and they were around when we didn’t have issues. What I am saying is we felt like we were being watched over. We paid a lot of money, expected certain amenities that were not available and felt uneasy as we came and went from the villa. They were very kind but at times scolded us. On the last night, a few from our group wanted to have fun in the pool and had music playing. The owner came out and told them it was quiet time and the party had to stop. We have rented MANY vacation properties and have never been told to quiet down and go inside.
This property would be perfect for anyone who doesn’t mind all the issues stated above but for us it was not what we expected.
In addition of the booking HA-26GDR1 with arrival day July 14,2018, we have answered Homeaway guestionnaire about the visitor,as a'non-welcome guest' for any future booking and we rated him and his companionship with 1.
Furthermore,of this misunderstanding, we would like to make some clarifications about the visitor's behavior,that was impartially unacceptable.
Our villa was daily changing sheets and towels, which were soiled with blood in such a dirty point that were not able to be cleaned so they were thrown away. As a result, in a very polite, discreet and considerate tone we express a reprehension,that was not taking to serious from the visitors and one of the ladies was upset about it .The next day of the unpleasant conversation, they brought us towels full of vomiting,once more the towels were thrown away. In the sequel,of the above they were making daily damages to the property,the water kettle, the breakfast platter and glasses were broken. We as owners never ask them for extra money for the replacements of the above.
The visitors never follow the hours of communal quiet at noon and nighs as they ought.
At the last night of their departure the visitors came drunk to the villa, the were screaming,breaking things after midnight,and we made them again in a very polite and discreet tone a complain, because we were afraid of any injures.Of course, and they did not take seriously any of our considerations and they jumped into the pool drunk.
As a further reaction of the above the visitors left without saying anything to us not even a goodbye, or a complain and they did not give the key of the villa back, even when we ask for it with an e-mail,as a result to have to change the door lock.
So,as a result to the bad rank that we give them, they give an non reliable review that it has no connection with the reality.
We noted with concern the feedback of our visitors and we are truly sorry for any inconvenience,since above all we do cater for the safety of our guest/visitors.
