Cute and Quaint little tiny Cabin on Kenai River, private entrance and private platform fishing docks. Fully remodeled with brand new little kitchen and log furniture. Marble and granite. This is just a very little cabin with maximum number of beds for groups wanting to comfortably sleep several people in their Kenai River stay. Very private as we keep the trees instead of tearing them all down. The view is still beautiful from the cabin. Not a ton of living/lounging space...... It's more known for its SUPER NICE BEDS and alot of them! .....ONE bathroom only, 2 small bedrooms downstairs 1 with a queen and 1 with a full, 3 queen beds upstairs in loft, 2 new additional Bunkbeds in loft as well with full sized beds on bottom bunk and twins on top bunk. TV with satellite DirecTV service and wifi. Smart TV for Netflix, etc. DVD player. Estimating about 1,000 square feet-nice, cozy little cabin. Sleeps 14 (if children in party) but more comfortably 7 adults in the 9 beds but top twin beds are close to ceiling so it's really made for smaller adults or children. We've had a few groups of 9 a few times and they were content. But obviously could be a little tight in the cabin with one bathroom. Additional sleepers welcome, but we are dedicated to accommodating about 9-14 people (4 queen beds and 3 fulls and 2 twins). Fire pit, bar-b-que, large chest freezer, vacuum sealer. 2 RV electrical hook ups. Restaurants 5 minutes away and grocery store 5 minutes away. Medical facilities close by. Fishing guides, sight-seeing fly-out trips, personal river front bank helper/advice or other Alaskan adventures can be organized, as well as commercial vacuum sealing. This is awesome! I wish to God I had seen something like this to rent before I owned property down in Kenai!!! So fun!

About Jenny Hedley
The owners, Jenny and Tony Hedley are from Arizona and own the lodge next door. The lodge and cabin are managed by her sister, Kelly Cusack Millen, full time 907-360-2201 with the help of her other sisters, Kim, Brooke and Kate.
Jenny Hedley purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why Jenny Hedley chose Soldotna
This is beautiful cabin and its brand new. The amenities are unbelievable and its conveniently located only a few miles from the town of Soldotna . It is also centrally located within all of the other activities a tourist would want to do on this Peninsula. But most of all, its prime fishing on Milepost 25 of them world famous Kenai River and you have access to two platforms for 24 hours straight during your stay. Book today!
What makes this Cabin unique
The fishing is unbelievable right off our property and our guests have the access to two private platforms for themselves for the entire stay. One acre of river front property is to yourself. Plenty of parking and privacy. We only buy the best mattresses for a great nights sleep. For the sockeye run, the fish swim upstream on the bank of the river right smack in front of your docks. Home of the World Record King Salmon, the Kings are there too but a little farther out towards the middle of the river and you need a guide to take you out on a boat. We offer you the best guides on the river. We will make an itinerary for you for your every need, or you can do it all yourself. The Kenai Peninsula offers such a variety of incredible fishing. It is truly Alaska's best playground. Depending on what type of fishing, you may choose another area on the river. Fly fishing for trout or king fishing is usually by boat on the Kenai, or Kassilof and it is never far from the cabin for your boat launch. Another favorite of many, is the nearby famous Russian River. Then there is the deep sea fishing for halibut and many other fish....but never doubt that there is so much to do in this area and it will always be good fishing. You need a little technique and with a good guide, you can't lose. This environment is extremely kid friendly. This town is perfect if you want to you get crazy at night at the local bars 5 minutes down the road, or just go to bed after the fire pit gathering or night time fishing. We can get chefs or massage therapists to cater to your needs or you can cook yourself with a new kitchen or bar-b-que grill outside. Vacuum sealing and freezing your fish is not a problem here either.

You guys are so much fun! Thank you for staying with us again!
Great comfortable fishing spot
This was our second stay at Camelot on the Kenai. The cabin is very comfortable but can be a bit cramped if there are too many people in it. The appliances are new and modern with a great stove, refrigerator, outdoor grill and chest freezers. There is only one bathroom but the shower and bath are a great size with good water pressure and unlimited warm water.
We had a few problems while we were there but none of them were deal breakers:
* The smell and taste of the water. It is surely not safe to drink? We drove to the supermarket to buy drinking water and water for coffee. This is probably something that should be mentioned to your guests beforehand?
* We were in the middle of grilling some sausages when the propane ran out. There was no one staying at the main cabin next door so we went and took their tank. It might be a good idea to have a spare available in case this happens to someone else?
* For a cabin with so many beds there was not enough cutlery and crockery in the kitchen. There were only 5 of us but we had to wash dishes between every meal to have clean ones for the next time. There was also only one wine glass in the cupboard and being wine drinkers, we had to drink our wine out of coffee mugs! Some more wine glasses and maybe some smaller tumblers (glass not plastic) would be a good idea?
A huge plus was the fact that we could fish for silver salmon right off of the bank. We were very successful and loved the fact that we didn't have to take our boat out on the river. The fish cleaning station was good and the peace and quiet around the fire pit at night was perfect.
Thanks for a great stay, we will be back next season.
Great for Families
This cabin was perfect for our extended family and the fishing from the dock in back of the house was fantastic! Jenny was an exceptional hostess and did everything possible to make us feel welcome and to support our stay. We had a great time at this cabin!
Great cabin and fantastic location on the Kenai!
I had a group stay in this cabin, and despite 9 fisherman, there was enough space for us. It was comfortable, clean and we had a great time there. The fishing on the Kenai was right there and the overall extra attention we had to help us fish and enjoy our time was much appreciated. All of us loved our time there at the cabin, by the river, on the deck or by the fire pit. I'd stay here again for fishing or exploring the Kenai Peninsula.
Great stay...almost perfect
First of all, the family that hosts this cabin are wonderfully kind, generous and delightful people. Kelly and Jenny went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and more. Kody was amazing in giving his time and talents to teach us how to fish the river there.
As for the cabin, I wanted to love this cabin but having rented many VRBO's in the past, it fell short of my expectations. Here is a breakdown:
- location, on river, groceries and restaurants just a few minutes away
- plenty of comfy beds
-washer/dryer (with soap/dryer sheets..bonus!)
- ample new fridge/freezer
- full size grill
- firepit and firewood
-very little space to lounge together indoors...only seats 3 in "living" space. From another review it mentioned a giant sofa upstairs....not so. There are beds everywhere...3 kings (queens?) And 2 twin over full/queen bunks. Only 1 chair to sit in.
- the water is really funky...smells like sulfur so we bought drinking water. It is also pumped into the cabin by the pump under the sink...quite noisy as it runs every time the water is turned on, toilet is flushed, laundry, dishes, etc.
- the upstairs sleeping loft had no way to be darkened from the light coming through the transom, and in Alaska summer, it never gets dark. It is also very loud/creaky anytime someone walks around upstairs and going up/down the stairs, it woke me up alot.
- although the cabin is on the kenai river, there are only peek-a-boo views of it from the cabin and porch as the vegetation is very thick.
- no outdoor dining, just a seating set
I can't knock the owners for most of those things, since they can't be helped. It is what it is...may not bother someone else like it did me.
I don't want to discourage anyone from staying here! I only wish I had this info before we went so I would have at least known what to expect. When you spend a fair amount of money, I like to know what I am getting for my buck.
Wow.Didn't expect! Kody said you guys wanted to come back!
Thank you for your input, tho.I love to get the feed back.I will work on every single one! But I do purposely keep the trees and vegetation thick. So many people/workers come over and want me to tear down the trees for the view but it's so private this way, most guests compliment this property in this regard. No one ever mentioned this to me before so it's interesting to hear. And plus, it keeps the land so pure. So, the sulfur smelling water has been fixed-it's just a filter, and if you come back, you must text me as I'll fix issues like that immediately. As soon as someone told me, it was corrected. You're right about outdoor dining, a picnic table is over there normally. Someone moved it & didn't move it back.I guess we eat on couches these days.So I put couches & a coffee table on the patio instead. My apologies as I didn't realize that the picnic table was moved! Guests do move things around.Yeah, I agree with little interior lounge space. It's a small cabin. I'm going to pull that cow-hide chair out and put another love seat in. It'll be tighter in space but more people can sit. I felt that too but someone (sister/interior decorator) told me it'd be too crowded in there. But, I will try and see what's better. You're right about the sectional couch in the loft, too. I had those custom log bunk beds made & the only way to do it was to forfeit the large sectional couch unless I put it up against the railing but I was worried about little kids falling over it.I'll figure something out to add couches back up to the loft by rearranging the beds up there. I'll have to get battery operated custom blinds to fit those triangular windows so they can open&close being that high up.You are the first to have brought this up, too.
The pump being under the sink? I wouldn't have even known where a pump was, honestly...I'm not a contractor or even close. I hire a contractor for those things. I don't know what to say, I bought the lot and the cabin came with it, pump and all. I will ask a plumber what to do about it. Maybe something is wrong if it is that loud. As far as space goes, I post pictures to show exactly what the place looks like. I don't try to make it look larger. They aren't professional pics.Just decent photos to make sure people see what they're paying for prior. One of these reviews said my pictures didn't do the place justice. The creaking..both of my cabins on the Kenai are made of wood & creak.
Lovely, quiet, and comfortable cabin
We had a lovely weekend getaway with family and friends. The cabin is comfortable and the upstairs loft area was large with 3 beds and a giant sofa. Even though it was wintertime and we didn't get to go down to the river (snow-filled) we used the fire pit and had a wonderful evening! We will be coming back to stay again, hopefully in the summer when we can catch fish!
Mariko! Thank you for your review! We are glad you enjoyed our cabin. We added two more bunkbeds since then so there is even more sleeping up in that loft now. (two more full/twin bunk beds). Let us know when you want to return! We appreciate good renters like yourselves.
One private acre on the Kenai River, home of the world record King Salmon. Two private docks and your own private entrance. Sport Fishing or deep sea halibut fishing, White Water Rafting, Bear Viewing, Fly in Fishing trips, Glacier viewing, and hunting is close by too. Wildlife is amazing as you'll often see the moose or caribou walking on the street, sometimes bears on Keystone Drive as you drive in or away from the property. Homer is a little over an hour and a half drive and Seward is about an hour and a half. Portage Glacier and the Alaska WildLife Zoo are about 2 hours away. There is just so much to do on the Kenai Penninsula, better known as "Alaska's Playground." The real value for this cabin is the fishing platforms that are available to your party for 24 hours straight. Come enjoy a beautiful cabin on a beautiful river and fish ALL day with your party. Book your trip with us today!
