Our vacation house is located in a haven of tranquility and peace set within lush forests, wandering vegetation and dramatic cliffs which tower over its well-known beach, still untouched by mass tourism. This combination of pristine coastline and breathtaking views makes our vacation home, the perfect place for your special family vacation; or romantic retreat. Our house is only 50 meters from the Atlantic Ocean on a non-through road, with minimal traffic, Not only a picture-perfect setting but a comfortable and efficient self-catering accommodation.
Our house features heating during winter, air cooling during summer, clothes washing and drying machines. And for those extra conveniences, bathrobes, a full beach kit that allows you to extend your hours at the beach, afterwards, imagine yourself rinsing off in our useful outdoor shower.
The chef in the family can create delicious dishes in our fully equipped kitchen or by using the outdoor grill. Outdoor entertaining is easy in our fully gated, illuminated courtyard, with no stairs, a secure setting for young children.
Stay connected with your outside World utilizing both our internet, and International Television channels, or you may simply choose to escape and swing from our hammocks while gazing out at the mesmerizing Ocean waves.

Fantastic

We had a wonderful 10 days here, we found it well equipped and the AC made it very comfortable. The location was perfect, so close to the sea and a beach. Lawrence and Zelda were so good, always available and happy to answer questions we had. Thoroughly recommend.

Like a home but very close to ocean

It was our second stay and as first in 2011 that same very nice. In present time it's difficult to find quiet place, but Azores and that cottage there are. Very good standard, hospitable owners (Zelda and Lawrence). Thank you at all and maybe see you next time.Zuzia, Piotr, Wojtek and Rafael

Ultimate place to relax

Once again we found "our home in Faja" to be a wonderful retreat! The renovations have made it even more inviting; we enjoyed the increased space in the kitchen, the new appliances and beautiful cabinets, as well as the French doors opening to the covered patio. This awning made it possible to even enjoy the rain outside! We love the hammocks, the closeness to the ocean and the beach, the clear night skies, the incredible sounds of nature at night. There is truly no place on earth like it! Regarding the area, the cottage is a five minute walk to "the best pizza in Portugal" at Snack Bar Faja, and a five minute drive to our favorite restaurant (and store), Rumar. I highly recommend this place to anyone!

peaceful perfect

We had a great time in Zelda's house, which is equipped with every luxury you can imagine and situated at the most beautiful corner of Faial island. Our 2 year old son made friends with the neighbour who offered him fresh milk directly from his cow every morning and we had nice chats with the friendly and welcoming people in Faja.

The Perfect Beach House

This fabulous little beach cottage is the perfect place for an out of the way respite. The owners have thought of everything, beside the fact they are friendly and attentive to any needs one might have. The kitchen is modern and convenient and stocked with the basics. The bed is comfortable and a washer/dryer make for handy use for extended travel. The interior is charming, good tv reception, wifi, and music. If you have never experienced the nighttime sounds of the Cory Shearwater, be ready for their baffling call. We would love to return to this snug little place with its walled courtyard and stunning views. Thank you, Zelda and Lawrence, for your welcome hospitality and friendliness. We appreciated so much the extra effort our last day, finding you at the airport with our forgotten camera bag. It was a pleasure to get to know a bit about you.

Pure tranquility!

"The tamarisk - house" is located at the end of the road, close to the ocean. Pure tranquility. Within the patio you'll find an open fire BBQ place, outsideshower with cold AND warm water, two hammocks and enough space to park your car. Inside the house you willl find a brand new kitchen (fully equiped), and anything else to feel very comfortable, plus an AC including heat! The view from the roof terrace is unique. Timeless we watched the waves. This spot definately is one out of ten in the entire world! Zelda and Lauwrence are perfect hosts, helping out with any of your enquiry. Out of our own experiences we recommend a boattrip with Luis and a foot massage made by Tanya. We wish we'd still be there... Full of hearts Elke and Ralph

Heaven on earth!

We knew that our vacation was going to be special long before we arrived on the island. Zelda, the owner of the house, e-mailed me all necessary information, recommendations, things she enjoys most on the island so we were well prepared in advance. She even sent us a list of different types of fish that is common on the islands so we can choose the best for eating in restaurants, cooking or grilling. When we arrived we were greeted by Lawrence, who showed us around the house and took as much time as we needed even though we were late. The house is perfectly equipped for a few days or a month long vacation. You will find there everything you need. Very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed our stay in the cottage very much. It almost felt like we were in paradise. The house is close to the village yet far enough so you can have a total privacy. It's located at the end of the road, right by the water. You can walk to the beach for a swim, you can see the water from the terrace, you can hear the ocean waves all the time. We were busy all week as there is so much to do on the island. We loved our trips to Horta as it is so colorful. Our favorite place to eat was Restaurante A Salgueirinha. We ate there twice - you have to try their shrimp and ribs. Lawrence recommended Louis, who took two of us fishing. Louis has a new boat and very good fishing equipment. I would highly recommend him if you're interested in catching some barracuda or other fish. Thank you Zelda and Lawrence for making our vacation so enjoyable! It's hard to forget your hospitality.

Little corner of paradise

Os Salguieros was the perfect place for our family holiday, in the middle of beautiful nature with all the modern conveniences! We loved listening to the ocean and birds, the close walk to the ocean, the clean ocean air. The cottage was clean, stocked with everything we needed, with wifi, comfortable beds; we lacked nothing! We enjoyed the snack bar a short walk up the hill- incredible pizza! Coffee on the roof patio every morning overlooking the ocean was amazing! Our teenage kids loved it as well. Lawrence and Zelda were gracious hosts, available and helpful, it was nice to visit with them, we now consider them friends and look forward to coming back again.

Very good option for family stay!

Our family stayed in this house for 3 days in May 2014. The description was absolutely correct and we enjoyed the house very much. It was clean, comfort and ready-for-use by the arrival. I used car navigation to reach it and the coordinates are ok. The owners are nice people and provide an overview tour for us explaining everything we need. It is really close to the beach and our daughter liked it. As for restaurants we would recommend to try shrimps at Bela Vista, just on the way to Horta. Hope to return on Faial again! Little heaven

Now as we came back to our noisy Moscow, it has been great to enjoy ocean, sounds of seaguls and salty taste of the air. The place is a pure heaven. The house it very cozy, clean. It has everything for being comfortable. Kitchen is equiped with everything you need for cooking. BBQ on the terrace was great! It takes just one step to reach the ocean. Five minutes and you are on the beach! We enjoyed fishing as well! Thanks to our hosts for a plate of strawberries and taking care of us during our stay. Coin de paradis

Une maison très agréable à vivre, avec une vue magnifique depuis la terrasse et un emplacement idéal à quelques mètres d'une très belle plage de sable noir. Paradise

We had a truly wonderful stay at this villa by the sea. Before we arrived we were worried that our 14 year old and 9 year old children would get bored without any organised activities or other children to play with, but there was plenty to do, including visiting the volcanoes, boat trips, swimming in the warm sea and collecting driftwood for the barbecue. The local beach was too rough for our daughter but our son loved cruising the waves. The views are stunning and the island is beautiful - nowhere is very far to get to and we loved the wildflowers and hydrangeas everywhere. It is very unspoilt - we spent the whole time marvelling at the fact that we saw very few other English people anywhere!

Excellent oceanfront location with great views

We had stayed in Zelda´s cottage in February. Driving on the road to the cottage there were many old stone houses and ruins. The cottage in Praia do Norte, was in a very peaceful location next to the village. It had everything we needed to relax after a day of touring the island. We woke up to crashing waves against the rocks and the beach (5 minute walk). Walking through the old farm roads near the cottage was a great way to start our mornings. We took time every day just enjoying the plants and the mountain cliffs above us. On one of our strolls in the old road, we met a farm woman walking her few cows down to another pasture. We felt we were back in time. Occasionally, you would meet the farmers moving their herds along the main roads to other pastures. The village of Fajã was very quiet and occasionally you came across a farmer and his wife working a plot of land by hand. You felt you were definitely in the old world of Europe. The Bela Vista Café-Snack bar near Capelo was one of the best restaurants. The food was very regional and excellent price. I would highly recommend eating here at least once on your way to Horta from the cottage. The other restaurant we enjoyed immensely was Peter´s Café in Horta. They have an excellent menu with great prices,a very friendly owner and home cooking; service was 5 stars. This cottage is highly recommended for a couple for a romantic getaway or small family. We would like to return again for a longer stay. Four days is not enough to see Faial. I would recommend a minimum of 7 days for Faial and then another 7 days to see Pico and Graciosa (depending on the hikes available). Thank you, Zelda for your hospitality. Keep up the great work. Beautiful house and location

Eines der schönsten Ferienhäuser, das wir je hatten. Im Pyjama ungestört ans Meer gehen zu können, das gibt es selten!Friedvolle Umgebung mit Wanderwegen direkt vor Ort. Sehr gute und schnelle Kommunikation mit Zilda, einfacher check in, gute Ausstattung mit allem, was man braucht. Absolute Empfehlung!!!

A perfect hideaway

For those looking for a hideaway in a scenic location on the north coast of Faial, this house is perfect. The kitchen is well equipped and ingredients such as oil, vinegar, spices, sugar, etc. were available. At night, as you gaze at the stars from the rooftop terrace, you can hear the sound of the sea and the call of the yellow-billed loon. Smooth communication, at check-in and check-out. The courtyard is very spacious, with plenty of shade, and the hammocks were very popular - with both the adults and the children.

Die Ferienwohnung ist nicht gross aber ausreichend für 3 und die Lage ist einfach perfekt, vor allem wenn man die Meeresbrandung liebt! Wir haben nichts vermisst und die Zeit sehr genossen und kommen gerne wieder!

Pure relaxation and deceleration

We were able to get to know Fajal well with a small rental car. All the sights were easily accessible. The restaurants nearby were all very good, whether it was pizza or fresh fish on the menu. Perfect 9 days holiday!

We came to Faial for the first time and this little casa was absolutely what we were looking for. Right beside the ocean, quiet, cozy, clean and comfortable. Thanks to our helpful host Zelda. Love Faial for it's nature and the nice people. We can absolutely recommend this accomodation. Oasis of well-being!

Great Coastal Hideaway

Great small house located on a quiet dead-end road on the outskirts of a small coastal village. Fabulous view of the coastline from the rooftop terrace. Walled, tree-lined courtyard provides shade as well as shelter from rain or wind. Comfortable bedroom. Galley kitchen had everything that we needed to prepare meals. Walking distance to small black sand beach - a good spot for surfing or bodyboarding when the swell is right. One of the island's marked hiking trails passes near the house and several others are nearby. Easy 20 minute drive from the airport & 30 minutes to downtown Horta & ferry terminal. Owner (Zelda) is easy to communicate with & very helpful. She lives on the island & she met us upon our arrival to show us around the house. She was also very understanding & accommodating when we had to cancel & reschedule our trip twice due to COVID travel restrictions (we originally booked for 2020). Overall...Highly recommended!
