This is the family farm. Paul and Ceciel purchased this farm as a newly married couple. They had three children which they raised here. The farm was quite self-sufficient with a garden, beef and dairy cattle, chickens, and pigs. Paul was a Welshman whose family had immigrated from Wales to Soar, Illinois and were part of a Welsh colony there. Eventually, family members moved west and settled in Washington and Oregon. Paul and Ceciel both for born and raised in Wallowa County. Ceciel was one of five children who grew up in the small community of Paradise, Oregon which was located near Troy, Oregon.
Kathleen purchased this Farmhouse in 1906

Great place to stay
Nice big farm house with great views of the Wallowa's.
Thank you so much for staying here at the Farm!!
What a view.
From the beautiful windows of The Evans Farm we watched the Wallowas get a good, early dusting of snow. Every moment the light shifts and the view changes. Evans Farm is well located for trips to Joseph or Enterprise, hiking and horse watching. Kathleen is a dynamic person, full of ideas, and the house is lovely...clean and well appointed.
Beautiful views of the Wallowas!
We had a lovely and relaxing time with our family on the Evans farm. Loved hanging out on the porch and watching the horses and admiring the mountains. Great location near Joseph, Enterprise and all the hikes/activities in the area.
Comfortable home in the middle of farm country with a sweeping view of the snow-capped Wallowa range. Easy access to Joseph and Wallowa Lake. We used it as our base of operations for total eclipse activities and a jet-boat trip up the Snake river starting and returning to Lewiston, Idaho.
We strolled through the large meadow and fed apples to the horses. Two of our group heard an elk bugle early in the morning.
Kitchen could use a few more sharp knives of various sizes. One faucet probably needs a new washer - it dripped after turning it off. Otherwise, well equipped and in good shape.
Thank you so much for staying at the farm.
Plumbers are in short supply. We will be addressing the dripping faucet. :)
Yes thank you for the suggestion on the knives.
The house and land is Very nice. A little uncomfortable feeling with the owners living in a airstream right next to the house. That will would have been nice to know. Kathleen was awesome and never bothered us. It was just the initial shock of the situation. Also wish we would have known up front the charge for boarding the horses. All in all it was a great trip. Totally recommend staying there, just be aware that the owners live on the property and that stabling animals it's kind of expensive especially if you're staying for extended time
I am sorry the stable fee surprised you. It is listed on the website and I did mention it when you booked. We supply feed and bedding with nice box stalls for guests.
We are required to be on site by county regulations. You make a great point though. IGoing forward, I will make sure guests know in advance that we live on the farm. We do do our best to give our guests the utmost in privacy. We are here to take care of the farm and are available to take care of any needs or questions our guests may have.
Thank you for your stay!
The house was really nice and met out needs for a party gathering
The yard was smaller than the pictures looked but the views of the Wallowas made up for it and we loved having a new baby foal be born while there!! Super sweet!!
