"Brownwings" is a 3 bdrm/2 bath cabin located just above downtown Lakemont, GA. Nestled on a very private, wooded lot, this home is perfect for small families or couples who want to be very close to Lake Rabun, as well as many other area attractions including world class hiking, golf, white-water rafting/kayaking and restaurants. It's a quick and scenic stroll to historic Lakemont village where you'll find a wonderful spa, art galleries, shopping, and a delicious gourmet deli! All 3 bedrooms open to large porches that overlook the surrounding woods. One bedroom features a king bed, another has 2 twin beds and a third, cozy "honeymoon suite" has a double bed. The living room also has a pull out sofa bed. The house is very clean and has recently been updated with all new appliances, bathroom tile/fixtures and HVAC. It's ready for you to relax and enjoy!

Great location for exploring Tallulah and Black Rock Mtn
Like the other reviewers noted, its an old cabin with character in a great location that allows you to explore the area and restock provisions conveniently, yet still be secluded.
There was plenty of space for the 4 of us and our 2 pointers. Great kitchen space and choice of tables for meals, wine, board games, etc... it was in the 30s and i worried the old poorly insulated cabin might be an ice box at night, but the heating system worked great, as did the hot water. Cozy. Even our kids enjoyed the antique decor. The wife and i enjoyed the slightly wobbly bear claw tub with overhead rain showerhead. The beds, at first blush, looked as old as the cabin, but were quite comfy and clean. My 10 yr old daughter loved the kids room, that you had to get to through our bathroom, but that was ok. Every bedroom had access to outside with only a sliding bolt as a lock. The overprotective parent in me liked that she was close and each kid had a furry 4 legged guardian at their bedside. We slept soundly and comfortably. The TVs came in handy to catch NCAA March Madness and the wi-fi was on the slow side but very stable. There were
a few dissappointments. The proximity to neighboring homes for one. You are secluded but within sight of multiple other cabins in various stages of active renovation. The white cloth sofa set needs to be retired or recovered in the living room. I wished the fireplace was functional. There is no mountain, lake view or hottub like we would typically have if we had driven a bit farther north pricing being about the same.
In the end, it was worth the price of admission. The cabin was an experience that told a story in and of itself. The surrounding parks were all dog friendly as were many of the Clayton restaurants we visited. It was a great place to relax and enjoy the simple things in life with the family.
Thanks, Rudy. We're glad you enjoyed the cabin! Thanks for providing so much detail in your review as we really want to help other travelers! Please note, the 3 other cabins nearby are hardly visible in the summer months and 2 of them are owned by our family and seldom used. Thanks again!
Lovely mountain cabin getaway
We spent Thanksgiving week in this lovely Lakemont cabin and truly enjoyed our stay. The house has "old cabin charm" but is comfortable and updated with modern conveniences. We were especially appreciative to have WiFi that enabled us to communicate with traveling relatives as cell phone reception was not available in the area! The kitchen was well equipped with all the pots, pans, and dishes needed to cook and serve Thanksgiving dinner.
The owner was easy to contact and responded to any questions very quickly. We enjoyed reading the history and information about the cabin that he shared before our visit. And the directions to local hiking trails and attractions were most helpful - thank you!
Charming cabin in the woods
We thoroughly enjoyed this cabin for a recent mother/daughter retreat. I arrived with my two girls (ages 9 & 12) and they loved it. We loved the wooded view from the porch, the proximity to the Tallulah Gorge, and quaintness that came with being in a cabin that is a 100 years old.
We're already thinking about booking it for next year!
Perfect family lake / mountain house!
My family arrived at our Lakemont House tucked away off the main road in a wooded area. It is very close to old 441 and the village of Lakemont, yet you feel miles away. The exterior is rustic for sure and not particularly handicap friendly, but the interior is clean, roomy, comfortable and charming. It reminded us of something from the 40's, but with a modern kitchen and bathrooms. Particularly comfortable for my family was the master bedroom with the children's room off the joint bathroom. It worked out really well with our 2 year old. The owner is quick to respond and eager to please. This is situated very conveniently to the North Ga. attractions such as trails, wineries, horseback riding, and more. We loved it and will return.
very nice historic cabin
We had a great stay in this lovely historic cabin. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.
We used the house for overflow for a family weekend. Folks loved the place; it was comfortable, clean and had a lot of history which everyone thought was great. The owner has really kept the place in great shape.
