Farm Stay Cottage on Organic Farm

Bedrooms 1
Space 500 sq ft
Property type bungalow
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

North Country Farms is an organic family farm with a hand-crafted, private lovely farm stay cottage, located just east of the rural and historical town of Kilauea on the lush north shore of Kauai, the Garden Island. We grow vegetables, fruits and flowers on our 4-acre piece of heaven and welcome visitors to come and experience a slice of real life on beautiful Kauai. We found our paradise - come and share it!

The farm stay cottage is an attractive, hand-crafted 500 square foot wooden guest house – completely self-contained and away from the main house. It overlooks our vegetable garden. It is landscaped with lush, tropical plantings to insure your privacy. Decorated in simple and tasteful island style, the cottage is fully and comfortably equipped for any length stay-with queen bed in sleeping area, futons available for extra sleeping, full bathroom with shower and tub inside, outside shower for after beach (or anytime!) use, dining area, kitchenette and large covered lanai with grill.

The cottage is airy and bright, with big windows and many shutters to let in the abundant trade winds. The kitchenette is perfect for vacation cooking—with small refrigerator, double sink, two burner electric stove top, large convection toaster oven, and blender. There is a stereo with CD player and a small selection of CDs, a television with DVD (along with a selection of movies) for your enjoyment, shelves full of books, puzzles and games, and baskets overflowing with diverse magazines for beach reading. There is wi-fi available in our gazebo near the main house.

We supply beach mats, beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, loads of paperback books, an eclectic magazine selection and a cooler for your many island adventures.

We are an eco-friendly destination. We have made a conscious choice to operate our endeavor in a completely green and sustainable manner. This means, among other things, that we keep our garden and orchards pesticide-free and our cottage insecticide-free. Subsequently you might see insects in our cottage, along with their charming “predators” the geckos.

We are a working organic farm – the perfect destination for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path alternative to the hotel and resort experience.

Splendid cottage in beautiful setting

Peaceful, well anointed cottage. Wonderful, kind, attentive hosts. Just my style and exactly what I was looking for! Even the driveway approaching the cottage was amazing; lined in palm trees and gorgeous plantings. Thank you Lee and Sky for an incredible stay!

Incredible, Gorgeous, Unique

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing property. The view from the porch is gorgeous. Listening to the rain pour in the evenings was magical. The outdoor shower was a lot of fun. The grill worked great and we used it every night. It was nice to feel secluded and to have the house to ourselves. Lee was a fantastic hostess. Would love to stay here again.

Amazing place

  • 5 of 5

If you love to be in touch with nature, that place is for you. You will not ever find such cozy, sweet and comfort farm stay place. It happend so that storm came to Kauai while we where at there, that night was absolutely amazing, lightnings and really heavy rain all night long, that was something.

Healing, peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I arrived at North Country Farm exhausted from our city life, seeking a simple and peaceful island retreat. We were immediately delighted and knew we selected the perfect Kauai accommodations for our needs and tastes. Lee is a wonderfully warm and welcoming host. Her small farm is lovingly cared for and a welcoming environment for people like ourselves seeking a more authentic and close-to-nature Kauai experience. Her guest cottage is sweet and comfortable, and we enjoyed its traditional plantation style architecture as its interior remained cool even in the hotest days. The outdoor shower was a favorite daily experience. The farm's fresh bananas and avocados were mouth watering. Kilauea tuned out to be a perfect location for us. Close to a small business district with delicious restaurants, a bakery, fish market, farmers markets and calm beaches. Although I loved sitting on the cottage's spacious porch, the local mosquitoes decided I was a gourmet meal. Thankfully the helpful staff and remedies at the local pharmacy saved my Island experience from minor misery. (The bugs had no interest in my partner!) All in all, we loved our stay at North Country Farm and hope to come back before too long. Thank you, Lee!

Romantic and Private Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. We were pleasantly surprised upon our arrival as the cottage is rustic and charming yet tidy. It has this intellectual calmness about it that doesn't show through in photos. Lee provided us with all of our basic needs; we had bath towels provided in both showers, all necessities in the kitchen were there, and in the living area there were lots of books on Kauai that were helpful. There are many DVDs to choose from as well if one wanted to watch a movie, which we didn't. Our bed was super comfy with a large ceiling fan above which soothed our sun drenched skin whilst we slept. Although it is a working farm we didn't really see anyone during our stay unless we sought Lee out and she was very quick to respond and exchanged towels when we needed them. The beach towels and chairs provided came in handy as well. The outdoor shower was delightful and we used it exclusively; who knew an outdoor warm shower in this climate could be so wonderful? We used the barbecue for grilling fresh fish and it was clean and worked great. One of our favorite things about the cottage was sitting on the lanai and listening to the many tropical birds make their calls. The most amazing beaches in the world, gorgeous hikes, restaurants, and probably the best little store ever, The Healthy Nut Market and Cafe, are mere minutes away by car. Our goal when making this trip to Kauai was to unplug, spend time alone, get in touch with nature, and avoid crowds at all costs and our stay at this private romantic cottage allowed us to do just that. Mahalo to Lee
