About the property

Accessible Riverfront Lodge, 6 BR + Detached Units, 6.5 Baths, (Sleeps 24)

Rivers Ridge Lodge and the cities of Black Mountain and Asheville offer something for everyone from Waterfalls to first class Spas, Craft Breweries & Wineries, award-winning Restaurants, Scenic Drives, Folk Art, Rock Climbing, Performing Arts, Music, Shopping, The Quilt Trail, unique History, etc. Planning a wedding or event? Check out photos on our facebook page. Not sure about local activities and events? Our website’s own EXPLORE WNC or EXPLORE ASHEVILLE pages have tons of ideas for you...

Fly Fish Rivers Ridge Lodge’s 3000 feet of private waters (probably best for beginners to those with mid range skills) with family or friends. For the expert fly fishing group, we’ll help you schedule an expedition to one of Western North Carolina’s beloved fly fishing destinations. There are many within easy driving distance, and we know great local guides.

Does your group crave competition? Because of its proximity to Pisgah National Forest, the area features ambitious races of all types, most notably those bordering on the crazy or zany...think Black Mountain Marathon/Mount Mitchell Challenge or Assault on Mount Mitchell.

Is golf the game of choice? Western NC is a golfer’s paradise offering a wide variety of well known courses.

Weather not conducive to fishing or golf? Home to 11 craft breweries, Asheville boasts about 50 local beers. Asheville has more breweries per capita than any other US city! Wine vineyards have thrived in Western NC because of the area’s excellent conditions for growing grapes at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are six excellent wineries just east of Rivers Ridge Lodge and the vineyards and winery on The Biltmore Estate in Asheville.

Did you know that Western NC has a rich Revolutionary and Civil War history? Reenactments are celebrated and many sites are commonly visited. There are famous literary personalities with museums and memorials in the area...Fred Chappell, Gail Godwin, O. Henry, Carl Sandburg, Thomas Wolfe. Whatever the focus, we’ll help you create an exciting getaway.

Where luxury and style meet the Blue Ridge Mountains. Rivers Ridge Lodge is a custom built, 5,000 SF, 6 bedroom, 5.5 bath log home nestled into 3000+ feet of river frontage on 17 undeveloped acres. Immerse yourself in the beauty of Western North Carolina from the 5,000+ SF deck that wraps the Lodge on 3 sides and juts over the edge of the widest span in the river. The open gourmet kitchen/living room, with its 16 ft stone fireplace and antler chandelier, will warmly welcome your extended family, friends or colleagues and comfortably accommodate them. Sleep and relax in any of 3 Master Suites on the main level. We have also crafted ramps, a barrier free shower and widened doorways to make the main floor and deck of the Lodge wheelchair friendly so everyone is included. The Lodge will sleep 20+ and the exterior bunkhouses add space for 5-6 more.

Very private, yet only minutes away from Interstate 40 (Exit 75), Rivers Ridge Lodge is an ideal spot for year-round vacations and events.

Popular day trips include: Pisgah National Forest, within minutes; Black Mountain, 10 mins; Blue Ridge Parkway, 12 min; Lake James, Lake Lure, and Chimney Rock, 30 mins; downtown Asheville's Biltmore Estate and Grove Park Inn, 25 min; Linville Caverns, 40 mins; Mount Mitchell, 50 mins; Sugar and Beech Mountain (skiing), 60-70 min. Access tons of information about favored locales, special events and interesting diversions by visiting our website's EXPLORE ASHEVILLE and EXPLORE WNC pages or our Facebook page. Rivers Ridge Lodge, we’ve tried to think of everything.

Guestbook comments from the manager

“What a great place for a family getaway! Twenty-four of us, ages 7 months to 81 years, spread out upstairs, downstairs, on the deck and in the creek. We played games and shot pool, waded and walked, ate and drank. The manager, Lana Massey, was a fabulous hostess, ready to help with our every query. Everyone loved the charming city of Asheville, and the beautiful scenery between it and the lodge.

My husband suffered a heart attack the third day into our visit, and awful as that was, we found Mission Memorial Hospital to be among the top 50 cardiac hospitals in the US, so he’s healing after a triple bypass. In spite of that major set back, everyone managed to help out anyway necessary and still had a memory filled, enjoyable vacation.

If you want to be pampered and constantly entertained, take a cruise, but for superior family fun, try River’s Ridge Lodge in Old fort, NC.”

Sincerely,

Sandra C

Great place for a big group

  • 4 of 5

This house was rented for our tennis team and spouses for a long weekend. The accommodations were great. The HUGE deck is a perfect place for everyone to congregate. There's enough tables and chairs to eat and we had 2 corn hole games going at once. The hot tub was a little disappointing. It's not suitable for this size house. It just fits 2 people. We made the best of it. The AGA oven is spectacular. The rooms are a good size. However if you are going to stay with couples plan to share rooms and/or utilize the bunk houses. Two of the bedrooms have full beds with twin bunk beds. The Wifi was intermittent. I would bring a hot spot for extra internet power and connection. It's the mountains so the reception is to be expected. Lana (the property manager) is unbelievable. She is VERY responsive and very clear on all that's included in the house so you know what you are getting. The extra touch she puts in each room didn't go unnoticed. The flowers, fruit in kitchen, etc. She's fantastic. This is a great place for families with children. There is a river out back by the fire pit to fish or skip rocks... its just a beautiful place to stay. WE played tennis in Asheville every day and it was a very easy drive. Thanks we will return...

A+ .... Everything we were looking for

  • 5 of 5

Had a bachelor party with 13 guys in the house, and our entire group loved the house.

The house itself is pretty impressive. Full kitchen, two refrigerators (one in kitchen and basement), extra freezer (in basement), two TVs with DirecTV (one main level, one basemant), pool table (basement), and poker table (basement). Upstairs is multiple bedrooms with multiple beds in each room. Main floor contains the kitchen, two living rooms, and has three bedrooms (Master Suite is pretty amazing). Basement is where the entertainment area is. Every single member of our party had their own bed to sleep on, and we didn't even utilize the two bunkhouses which are on the property.

The Patio is just as impressive as the house. It is enormous and contained ample seating and tables for our party. There is a gazebo in the back corner for a shaded area to sit during the day and also a 4 person hot tub as well.

From the patio there is a set of stairs that leads to the ground level and another set from there which leads to a open field/firepit area which is right up against the river which runs by the house. Absolutely gorgeous. The water is shallow enough and calm enough that you can (CAREFULLY) walk out to some of the rocks the rise up out of the water and just hang out in the middle of the river.

The property itself is nice and secluded. We played music pretty loudly and pretty late/early and received no complaints that we are aware of. The house is about 10-15 minutes off the highway so you about 20-30 minutes from the nearest wal-mart or large grocery store. There is a gas station right next to the highway exit that should cover your most basic and immediate needs.

I would recommend renting a car or SUV with four wheel drive to make the trek easier as the final road leading to the house is a gravel road. We had a Chyrsler Town and Country minivan, a Jeep Compass, a Ford Focus and an Infiniti G35 and we all made without much issue though so don't fret too hard.

Great for a large group!

  • 5 of 5

My high school friends and I planned a reunion here with our families and had a fantastic time! This is truly a log cabin deep in the mountains. Be prepared that you are about 10-30 minutes from the action so renting a car is a must to get around. But it is very easy to get to Asheville and all the nearby hiking spots. The lodge is comfortable and spacious, and the deck is huge! We traveled with 12 children, all 6 and under and they had a ton of fun in the creek and making smores at the fire pit by the river. We never felt cramped for space, and really enjoyed our time!

Absolutely Incredible Wedding Venue

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I rented this cabin to have our wedding in, and honestly, it could not have been a more magical and special weekend.

To begin with, the booking process was a delight. The property manager, Lana, is spectacular. She helped us through the process of getting the cabin rented, and letting us know what to expect with our visit. When we called with a large list of questions, not only was she there to answer them, she had just the answers we were looking for. They have hosted many weddings, and are prepared for so many of the needs that come up! We planned ours in a few weeks, and the extra assistance provided really helped us out so, so much.

Our wedding was about 35 people including children. We had about 24 stay in the cabin, and not once did it ever feel crammed. The humongous deck would have held 6 times that amount without being filled up. This property is very spacious, but still has that very intimate feeling we were looking for.

The property itself is perfect. The cabin overlooks a beautiful NC stream, and is not near any neighbors to taint the experience. It was immaculately clean, and furnished with everything and more that we could have needed for the weekend. The rooms are large and styled wonderfully, and the bunk houses are a nice addition to allow even more people to stay on the property. The deck is incredible, and played host to our ceremony, rehearsal dinner, reception, and late night shenanigans. From the pool table to the Jacuzzi to the AGA range to the gazebo, the property was fantastic!

Lana was a delight to work with. She made great recommendations for local vendors, made sure we were well taken care of for the event, and followed up with us to ensure we enjoyed our stay. I swear she would have literally bent over backwards for us if we needed her too. She even found an heirloom silver handheld mirror a guest had left, and had it shipped back to them. I haven't dealt with any other property managers that I've been so pleased with.

My mother in law went from wanting everyone to come back in ten years to experience it again, to five years, to one year by the time we left the property.

Thank you, Lana, and I plan on working with you again for another visit in the future.

Perfect mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

I recently rented this cabin for our Girl Scout troops end of the year trip. We had 30 girls and moms enjoy the space, the creek, the views and would highly recommend this property for a group get away! We were all comfortable and had plenty to do right on property for the weekend. The girls loved playing in the creek and the moms enjoyed the gazebo and mountain views from the deck! We had plenty of space to spread out and the deck was perfect for our sunrise yoga practice. Our hosts were super helpful providing details before our trip and answering questions quickly!

Amazing spot for our honeymoon!

  • 5 of 5

I can't speak highly enough about this lodge. My husband and I went for a honeymoon weekend and it was the most relaxing, peaceful weekend we've had in a long time. The deck overlooking the river on all sides of the lodge took my breath away. We really enjoyed cooking nice meals and eating while sipping wine and listening to the river flowing. We also enjoyed going into nearby Asheville for brewery tours! The lodge itself is so luxurious and the hot tub was incredible. We would highly recommend the lodge for ANYONE. Amazing time that we will never forget!!
