Overview

About the property

4 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom Cottage directly on the beach

The beauty of Port Renfrew is right outside your window at our newly renovated beachfront cottage with stunning ocean views. The cottage is blessed with one of the best ocean views in Beach Camp.

Open the sliding door and greet the Pacific Ocean, the mountains, and the beach. Watch eagles flying overhead while you drink your morning coffee. If fishing is what brings you to Port Renfrew we are a 10 minute walk (3 minute drive) to the newly opened Pacific Gateway Marina. It is also the perfect space to start or finish your hike if you are doing the West Coast Trail as the trail head is a short drive away. If you are travelling with children there is a playground across the street.

Our family has been coming to Port Renfrew for years and last year we were lucky to be able to purchase this amazing property. After renovating the cottage it is more beautiful then ever, with a large kitchen island, new stainless steel fridge, a table that seats 8, upgraded fireplace, and an open concept living area, making the cottage perfect for families and friends. The cottage sleeps 8 and has 4 bedrooms with brand new king sized beds and new 350 thread count sheets. We have also just built an outdoor shower, perfect for showering off after your surf session.

Everything you need is here, from a full selection of dishes, glasses and cooking utensils, to all linens.

In the evening enjoy sitting around the outdoor fire pit & roasting marshmallows and later fall asleep to the sound of the ocean at night. When you wake up to the view every morning, you'll feel like you are seeing it for the first time.

The cottage is perfect for friends, families, or for a couple looking for a romantic getaway.

About Christine Dennstedt

We are a family of 4 who love to travel and adventure. I am BC born and raised and currently live in Whistler, BC. We now spend our time between Whistler and Port Renfrew, BC.

Christine Dennstedt purchased this cottage in 2016

Why Christine Dennstedt chose Vancouver Island

We love to surf and had been looking for a vacation home to call our own close to the ocean when we stumbled upon this gem. We had been travelling to Port Renfrew to surf and vacation for many years and after starting a family wanted a place for our girls to spend summers and make memories at. With no cell service this is a perfect place to relax, slow done, and enjoy being surround by the beauty of Port Renfrew. We hope you enjoy it here as much as we do! xo christine & clark

What makes this cottage unique

Port Renfrew, British Columbia is a small community on the southern tip of the West Coast of Vancouver Island. It is quite similar to Tofino, however, it is only an approximate one and a half hour drive west of Victoria, north of the fast growing community of Sooke. Long a forestry and commercial fishing hub, the town has transitioned to being a centre for outdoor recreation including sports fishing, hiking, old growth forest tourism and eco-tourism. It is most famous as the trail head for both the West Coast Trail, and the Juan de Fuca Trail, as well as, for being home to some of the best salt water salmon and halibut fishing on Southern Vancouver Island. Hundreds of fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts descend on the town every summer from local communities, Alberta and the United States and Europe.

Port Renfrew is a seaside community centered around the local wharf, and provides visitors and residents with a relaxed, personable atmosphere as only a small village can create. Several major changes have put Port Renfrew on the map in recent years. The most significant development is the completion of the $25+ million dollar, Pacific Marine Circle Route along with more recent road upgrades connecting Port Renfrew to eastern and northern Vancouver Island with a new paved highway. The completion of the circle route in 2009 has brought increased traffic and exposure to the region from areas such as Duncan and Nanaimo where transit time is now 1.5 to 2 hours.

This temperate coastal rainforest community is dominated by old growth spruce, hemlock and cedar. Captioned as Canada's Tall Tree Capital Port Renfrew is host to some of the tallest and largest trees in Canada which are known to be on or in the vicinity of the West Coast Trail. Sombrio is a fantastic place to surf and is conveniently located an easy 15 minute drive away.

A great family cottage

  • 5 of 5

A great family cottage. We were there with two families with young kids, and there was lots of space for everyone. The location right on the beach is perfect, as well as the great playground across the street. I would highly recommend this place to friends

Nice location and house with beautiful view

  • 4 of 5

We had a super stay in Port Renfrew next to the Pacific and a bald-headed eagel as a neighbour. Plenty of space in the house for 8 people. Thank you for letting us stay.

Great family vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Driftwood Cottage. The place had comfortable beds, a well supplied kitchen, and best of all an amazing view of the ocean and wonderful outdoor patio. A short walk down to the beach and you can watch seals play in the bay most evenings. Christine was also great to deal with. We would come again.

BRIGHT and SPACIOUS !!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our mini fishing vacation ! SOOOO much room for all 6 of us to spread out. We each had our own KING sized bed !! Lovely to have such large bedrooms to have some privacy from the group, and yet such a spacious kitchen, eating and living area to have together time. Appreciated the well stocked kitchen ! The outdoor area was amazing, with plenty of seating and a lovely campfire area. The best surprise was the array of games and toys for everyone in the group. Puzzles and books too !! Truly a home away from home !!
