Wheatsheaf cottage has been beautifully renovated with lots of little touches that make it really special. The living area is open plan and although it's small it feels spacious and airy. The kitchen had everything I needed and was very well fitted out with, we even used the BBQ one night on the small private terrace in front of the cottage. The bed is very comfortable and again, the bedroom is very nicely decorated. The gardens around the cottage area are lovely and there is a very pleasant seating area to one side. A bonus was the laundry room as we'd been in a different cottage the previous week that didn't have a washing machine so it was great to be able to catch up on my laundry! We were staying with our dog who seemed to like the cottage a lot too. The owners Rob & Emma were lovely and Rob called round on our first night to make sure everything was okay and to offer any help if we needed it. The cottage would have been absolutely perfect if the front terrace had been secure for our dog, but we were told that it's on the list of things to do. We had a great week in Wheatsheaf Cottage and will definitely stay there again if we return to the area. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Another perfect holiday at Wheatsheaf Cottage with perfect hosts Rob & Emma and their little boys.
Another perfect holiday at Wheatsheaf Cottage with perfect hosts Rob & Emma and their little boys. The grounds had changed since we stayed in the snow in the winter but were equally beautiful. Rob & Emma are always working hard to make the cottages even better for their guests. We would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for peace and quiet, rest and relaxation and beautiful surroundings.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday in this lovely, cosy cottage. The cottage had everything we needed, was in a fabulous peaceful location with easy access to the coast, North Yorkshire moors and in land to Thirsk. I would highly recommend, we will definitely be going back in the future.

Our second stay at Wheatsheaf cottage.
Our second stay at Wheatsheaf cottage. As good as the first, if not better. The owners now in their second season had added some nice touches including some dog treats as well as the human cake. We cannot fault the presentation and cleanliness of the cottage. Obviously our Greyhound recommends the cottage for the nearby forest walks and the easy drive to beaches at Scarborough and Filey. He also likes the area because of the number of doggie friendly pubs nearby. We are already thinking about a third visit, probably in the Autumn, for the woodland colours. We would thougherly recommend a holiday at Wheatsheaf Cottage.

A lovely cottage in a lovely location.
A lovely cottage in a lovely location. We walked miles in the Wykeham Forest in both sun and snow (an added bonus) through Beedale, Deepdale and on the Tubular Hills Walk. We walked part of the Cleveland Way around Robin Hood's Bay and Boggle Hole and on return from these lovely chilly walks, Wheatsheaf Cottage just wrapped itself around us and kept us cosy and warm and gave us a good night's sleep in the very comfy bed. We have stayed in cottages where the equipment levels hardly enabled us to boil an egg but this cottage is so well equipped that we could have cooked a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. We can't thank Rob and Emma enough and even though the cottage speaks for itself with its high level of equipment and comfort, they made it special and we cannot wait to come back. So much so that we have already booked again. We wish Rob and Emma (and their two little boys) well with their cottages and look forward to seeing them again in May. Local amenities: We have scored this section as 10 because the cottage offered everything we required, but it may not suit everyone if you require shops, leisure centres, etc on the doorstep. Pickering and Scarborough are not far away and these two locations should give anyone all they require.

Most wonderful holiday in a comfortable homely cottage. The idyllic location of the cottage cannot be described with words, you need to visit it to experience the peace and quiet. A perfect base for exploring the coast or North York Moors.
