Situated in the village of Lamlash, adjacent to the owner’s home and only yards from the shore, this property offers stunning views over the sea to the Holy Isle. This is a modest, little old cottage kept cosy by an air source heating system, with the toilet and shower downstairs. Lamlash has four pubs with restaurants, as well as two tea rooms and a pretty bay full of sailing boats. From here, you can hop onto a small ferry from the jetty to the Holy Isle. The cottage has a hilly garden behind and from the top, guests can enjoy splendid views of the village and the bay. Seals live on Lamlash Bay and other bays around the island, and can always be seen resting on the rocks. Arran is a fantastic place to see sea otters, as well as basking sharks and porpoises which are sometimes spotted. Close by, visit the natural cavern known as King’s Cave which inspired Robert the Bruce. Visit the famous standing stone circle at Machrie Moor, which is located in a stunning and mystical setting, on the flat valley floor with a dramatic mountainous backdrop; a photographer’s dream. There are many ancient pre-historic burial sites around the island, the most well-known is the Giants Graves in Whiting Bay. Lamlash is the ideal centre from which to visit these attractions and there is a very good bus service, should people not want to drive.
The island has a scattering of pretty villages on Arran’s stunning coastline which are contrasted by a rugged and mountainous interior in the north. This is a natural paradise with sightings of red squirrels, golden eagles, red deer, otters and seals. You can even join an island safari! If you need inspiration for your picnic, beach barbecue or dinner then Arran offers it all on a plate and in your drinking cup! From jams, relishes, oatcakes, seafood, cheeses and chocolate to whisky and beer you will then have to plan one of many walks on the island! With seven golf courses it is easy to see why this island holds such an appeal for golfers. For adrenaline junkies, Arran offers mountain biking, paragliding, canyoning, sea kayaking, scrambling and more! Take the ferry from Lochranza to Claonaig to explore Kintyre with the ferries to Islay, Jura and Gigha easily accessible. Beach 20 yards. Shop 100 yards, pub and restaurant 30 yards.
