Please note: There is an unfenced river 20 feet away.. This beautiful, converted Cider Barn is full of character and lies in the picturesque Welsh Marches. The accommodation is decorated with a comfortable, vintage country style with modern facilities. Original beams and a welcoming wood burner add to its charm and appeal, and a basket of logs will be waiting for you to cuddle up in the warmth. The cosy bedroom is in the eaves of the barn, with oak beams and a small fireplace.
A welcome basket and dressing gowns are provided for your stay but please contact the owner, in advance, for any additional extras which may be required on arrival, especially for those truly special occasions. The Cider Barn is set on the owners’ small holding with pet sheep including rare breed Balwens (Welsh Mountain sheep) and Herdwicks. The Cider Barn has a small garden area with seating and a BBQ with access to the shared garden, the river, and the grounds, if you wish. The Cider Barn is popular with walkers with numerous nearby towns and areas of interest with Kington town hosting a walking festival in September and walks such as Offas Dyke from Knighton.
The area has many outdoor activities on offer including riding stables, National Trust Houses and Parks and golf within the beautiful surrounding countryside. Visitors can enjoy the slower pace of life and potter round the old villages and towns. The barn is well placed for the small town of Presteigne, 2 miles away, which holds many events throughout the year and is the first town when you cross the border into Wales, with its pubs, restaurants, cafés, takeaways, museum, and antique shops. There is an award-winning inn (Herefordshire Dining pub of the year in 2020 Good Pub guide) just 2½ miles away towards Kington. Leominster is a small market town and offers vintage/bric-and-brac and antique shops a-plenty, just 10 miles away. Ludlow and Hereford are about 40 minutes away by car. There are many other attractions such as the Chase distillery, Monkland Cheese, gin and cider makers, museums, farm shops, art galleries and markets, all within the locality. The Cider Barn is situated in the heart of a farming community with easy access to both Herefordshire and Welsh villages and towns. The nearby road can experience heavier farm traffic at certain times of the year. Shop, pub and restaurant, takeaways 2 miles.
