About Melissi Hammer - Moyer
The Brubaker House is located on land that has been in my family for several generations. Originally built by my parents, it is adjacent to my grandparent's farmhouse and its close proximity to the Shenandoah river, mountain hikes, Luray Caverns, and downtown activities made it an ideal place to grow up. I am a local artist who loves to capture the beauty of the area that I was raised in and I want to share that experience with you! If you're interested in learning more, go to www.jeanbmoyer.com.
Melissi Hammer - Moyer purchased this House in 1951
Why Melissi Hammer - Moyer chose Luray
This property was passed down through past generations of Brubakers and has a uniquely beautiful view of the mountains and local landscape.
What makes this House unique
The huge front porch has been a place of family gatherings, quiet moments watching the sunsets, and hours of relaxing in the swing.

Like visiting your Grandma's family home....
This was our 2nd stay at Brubaker House. My husband wanted to go to Arlington and since we loved our stay so much last year, we decided to stay here and drive to DC.
The weather didn't quite cooperate with our original plans so, we ended up just hanging around Luray and at the house for a day but, it wasn't a disappointment because we love this place.
Last year we travelled with my Sis, this year it was just us. The house will accommodate a family and is perfect for a couple too.
Can't say enough good things about this place.
Wish I could live there!!
Aside from the beautiful views - the home owner Melissi literally has the most kindest soul you will ever meet. She really was as much of the gem of the trip as her home is! Her nurturing and loving spirit provides not only a superb clean home but she also has the best supplies - from shampoo, fresh linens, the brightest white towels (more then enough for our group of 8 with teenagers - especially multi-towel using teenage girls!), all the kitchen supplies, the best artwork, large dining table, the games!, perfect yard to have fun in and run around in, every bit of this home made my entire family comfortable - even the kids have group messaged about missing being there! Melissi you are the salt of the Earth and truly someone everyone should have the chance to meet! We adore you!!
The cabin was very clean and Meliss was very nice
a nice and clean house
We had a peaceful vacation in this lovely house. The house is very clean and cozy. Melissi is very helpful and responsive in all measures. Definitely recommend to other families!
The Brubaker House was a perfect match for my husband and our 3 teenagers. Plenty of beds, wifi and TVs in every bedroom. The decor was warm and inviting and reminded me of visits to my grandmother's home. Such a peaceful feeling - sitting on the porch and looking at the mountains in the distance. My daughter was the cow whisperer, bringing the herd at the farm across the road over to the fence so she could enjoy seeing them close up LOL. Melissi was wonderful - provided us specific directions to Massanutten where we enjoyed a day at the indoors waterpark. The house is very close to Luray Caverns - if you go be sure to also visit the car museum which is free - it was an unexpected hit with my family. I would also recommend dinner at the Speakeasy at the Mimsly Inn - we went on a Sunday night and not only was the food great, but there was an awesome jazz trio to boot. And for a great breakfast/lunch visit the Gathering Grounds in downtown Luray. Despite our only have a short 2-night visit we had a great time. Definitely would recommend staying at the Brubaker House! PS - check out the paintings throughout the house by Melissi's mother-in-law...she is a wonderful artist and we were even able to bring home mini depictions of 2 of her works that Melissi had made into keychains!
Beautiful, convenient location in charming, comfortable home!
Plenty of room for the two adult couples and three children. The owners brought out a twin size ‘roll-away’ bed to allow all three children to share a room. The home was spacious and had all we needed. The kids enjoyed exploring the games and fields surrounding the home on the family’s property. It was filled with family artwork and truly felt like a home. It was convenient to Luray caverns and Massanutten Resort. Would highly recommend!
Though the Brubaker House is located in a quiet, rural setting with inviting scenic views, it is centrally located within minutes of attractions such as river rafting, hiking in the Shenandoah Park, walking through the Luray Caverns, visiting the New Market Battlefield, and shopping and dining in downtown Luray. This hub to your Shenandoah Valley is within two hours of Northern Va/Washington DC.
