This is a gorgeous house perched above the Chama river on a stunning 22-acre ranch. With beautiful gardens, woods, river and mountain views, and river frontage, this is a magical spot for personal retreat, local exploration, family gatherings, workshops & weddings. The spacious main house sleeps 2-6 adults in 3 bedrooms. An optional second section sleeps 6 more in 2+ bedrooms. The second section must be requested and adds $155/night to the base quote. Pet & wedding/event fees apply if relevant.
The house marries old New Mexico charm -- deep set windows, kiva fireplaces, antique and tribal furnishings, and original art work -- with modern comforts and conveniences throughout. The spacious main section of the house includes three guest bedrooms, each with a private bathroom; a large living room, dining room, and sunroom; a well stocked kitchen with an adjoining game area; and a laundry/mud room (not shown in photos). The main section of the house accommodates 2 to 6 people -- up to 7 when the small, pull out sofa bed is used. (Upon request, two king size beds in the house can be converted to 4 single beds.)
The second section of the house adds two additional bedrooms, a large shared bathroom, and a sitting area with a pullout, queen size sofa bed. This section must be requested and the additional fee will be added to the base quote. With the second section, the house accommodates 10 people, and with the sofa beds, up to 13 people in total. The fee for the second section is $155 per night.
The house's deep walls, ceiling fans and cool Abiquiu nights make for lovely sleeping temperatures during summer months. During the winter, radiant floor heat and several fire places keep the house an equally lovely temperature.
The garden area adjacent to the house includes a barbecue, smoker, outdoor fire pit, lawn furniture, and seasonal grape arbor, herb and flower gardens, and fruit trees. The property features an old growth cottonwood grove, beautiful river and mountain views, and direct river access.
The barn, outbuildings, corrals, and pasture areas are not included with the house rental.
Special gatherings and events are welcome, including weddings, receptions, family reunions, and retreats. Additional fees apply.
Longer stays with reduced rates are also possible. Please enquire with us directly to work out your details.
Dogs and horses are welcome, but only with advance approval. Additional fees apply. Please enquire.
Ranch Animals: Pepe, our burro, Rosy, our pony, and Paddy and Black Berry, two rescue horses, live in the barn along with Noche and Dia, our barn cats. Our animals are friendly, however use of the barn and access to the animals is off limits to guests for safety reasons.
River Access: guests are welcome to visit and play in the river from the property, however you do so at your own risk. Currents can be strong and we cannot vouch for the safety of playing in the river.
Wildlife: different kinds of animals (including coyotes), species of birds, reptiles (including rattle snakes) and insects live in abundance in this part of the world. There is exceptional natural beauty to be found here, both on the property and in nearby areas, but exploring the outdoor areas here is best suited for people who are comfortable with and love nature in all its manifestations.
