Great week in the Dordogne

Lovely traditional property in a quiet spot with a fantastic pool and everything you need for a family holiday. The house is in a great location to explore the Dordogne area, a little distant from local amenities but absolutely fine if you have a car.

About the host

We spent several years searching all over France until we finally found Bellevue, our lovely stone cottage with far reaching views.

We live in the UK but have a local company that specialises in gite rentals to manage change overs or any issues that may arise.

Why they chose this property

This is a traditional stone built cottage with many features including stone floors and oak beams, the large garden has several fruit trees, a pool and swings for children .

Patio doors lead from the leaving room onto the newly laid patio which is great for alfresco dinning and at night you sit and listen to the owls and see the sky full of stars.

What makes this property unique

At the end of the lane is the Hotel La Metairie which has beautiful gardens and a Michelin rated restaurant.

The village of Mauzac is a pleasant 20 min walk away on the banks of the river Dordognde and is a pretty village with two very good restaurants and a small shop.

Tremolat is a 5 min car ride away it has a bakery four restaurants and a water sports centre on the river that specialises in water skiing you can also rent canoes or pedalos and both villages have regular festivals in the summer months. Lalinde is the nearest town 15 min by car, this is a Bastille town and is also on the banks of the river it has many restaurants a pharmacy doctors, vets and three supermarkets.

In addition, there are other nearby tourist destinations, Limeuil, le Bugue, Cadouin, Baynac and Sarlat, plus many more Bastille towns and the lovely city or Bergerac. The old town of Bergerac which is pedestrianised, also is full of great restaurants situated down narrow side streets and is well worth spending a day.
