In addition to central heating, there is the added charm of a free-standing, woodburning fireplace. The large deck with barbecue provides a beautiful private setting for dining or sunning. Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Betsy & Bud,

Thank you for making so many of our family vacations together so special in your cabin. We realized this year especially that coming to one place year after year, and experiencing the familiarity and comfort of your place, reinforces all the memories. We know the rooms, the kitchen, the horseshoe pit will be there. We even feel like we know your family a little bit from the photographs and art on the walls. This is all to say again "thank you" and we hope you and your family are doing well.

Absolutely works

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was clean and included many of the 'must-haves' frequent VRBO'ers come to value (kitchen items, cleaning, etc). Great location. Fire place was perfect and having wifi was great. I would stay again.

Great location! Very quick response time!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin has a great location--easy lake access close to Tahoe City and Carnelian Bay. Located in a very quiet neighborhood, this cabin has that Old Tahoe feel that I remember from my childhood. It fit our group of 4 adults, three children, and one Tahoe-loving golden retriever perfectly. We enjoyed eating meals on the spacious deck and our boys loved playing on the surrounding grounds. We spent most of our time at the lake but the cabin was warm and welcoming when we returned. Our son celebrated his birthday there and will have fond memories of turning 11 at the cabin.

Bud and Betsy were fantastic. They were so easy to work with, refunded our cleaning deposit promptly, and responded within a few hours to every email I sent. Thanks, Bud and Betsy for being so kind and prompt.

Great cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect cabin for our needs. Weekend getaway for our family of 6 Adults, 2 kids and our boxer pup. Plenty of space. Comfortable beds and living area. Fully stocked kitchen. Cozy fireplace. Beautiful views, especially for the kids in the loft. Super reasonably priced. Plus the owners were easy to contact and helpful. We had an amazing time that was stress free and relaxing. Exactly what we were looking for. Thanks Betsy and Bud. Already looking forward to another stay!

Lovely stay at a warm and cozy cabin.

  • 4 of 5

A lovely cabin with plenty of rustic warmth. We visited during the major February storm and the driveway was regularly plowed clear. Nice dinning room / family room combo with plenty of room and very functional kitchen. We found the beds quite cozy and the views enjoyable...some of the rustic forest surrounding the area, some with patches of the lake peaking through.

If you are looking for the Taj Mahal with full service, then this is not your place. If you are looking for a VERY reasonably priced, cozy and roomy place, where you will save many $$ in return for doing your own cleanup (required for rental) and bringing your own sheets/towels....then this is about as good as it gets.

The only thing better was the kindness, promptness, and helpfulness of the owners, Bud and Betsy!

They treated us well and have created a lovely part of our Tahoe experience!

Don't go here!!

  • 1 of 5

First of all, the owners did not use VRBO for payment and charged more than the site indicated.

Contacted owners to make sure the cabin would be accessible due to snowfall. We were assured that it would be. We arrived and the driveway was plowed but the entrance was not accessible and we had to shovel 4 ft of snow to get into the house. The heat was down to 46 when we arrived and the vents were closed. It took over an hour for the house to heat up. The fireplace flue was opened but did not draw well so we did not use it. The house had not been cleaned professionally. The shower curtain rod in bathroom #1 had been broken off the wall and unusable. The bathtub did not have a stopper in that bathroom, so we were unable to shower or bath in that bathroom. There was a working shower in the 2nd bathroom that we used. We had to bring our own sheets. There was not laundry available. There was no dishwasher. Everything in the cabin was dated, not kept up. We were expected to clean the cabin and take the trash out. The trash box outside had been plowed under and we had to dig it out to place the trash in. They need a property manager to take care of the property to make sure it is in working condition prior to renters arriving.

Owner's Response: It is important to us that our guests enjoy their stay at our cabin; and as you can see from all the reviews (except this one), our guests love our cabin and always enjoy the time they spend there. We often have repeat renters – mostly families that return again and again for family vacations in Tahoe, and folks who are looking for a comfortable, low-cost place to stay. Unfortunately, the guests who posted this review neglected to read our listing details completely, and did not notice that we ask all our guests to provide their own sheets and towels, and to please leave the thermostat set at 46 degrees when they leave (to keep the pipes from freezing). We’re sorry they thought our cabin was “dated”, as most people find it charming, and tell us how they spent many evenings enjoying the fire in the fireplace. This is our second home, not a rental property, and we do our best to keep it in good order. The rod for the shower curtain had fallen down (it was not broken), and our handyman put it back in place and easily tightened the rod. With the incredible rain we’ve been experiencing in Northern California, the Tahoe area has had the largest snowfall this January since 1995. These guests arrived at night following a snowstorm, and their vacation did not get off to a good start. Please read all of our reviews, to see that this was an isolated incident. We partner with a local couple who check our home between rentals, to be sure it is ready for our next guests. We hope you’ll visit us soon!

Really, really cool cabin - fireplace, loft, views

  • 5 of 5

SUCH a great cabin - lots of room, plenty of blankets, wood for the fire, views of the pine trees, kitchen supplies, etc. We had three couples and had a great Thanksgiving there. Perfect holiday. We will be back!
