About The Owner

I am happy to provide advice, tips, and anything else you need to know about Kauai's North Shore!

The Owner purchased this condo in 1984

Why The Owner chose North Shore

Sweeping views and a pristine interior at one of the most beautiful resort properties in the world.

What makes this condo unique

One of the most unique benefits you will enjoy by staying at our property is being a 10 minute drive from the best beach in the world. I won't waste your time explaining why. You'll know when you go.

Hanalei Bay Resort offers all of the world class resort amenities, which would not be available to you staying in a private home: 2 relaxing pools, a barbecue area, 8 tennis courts, a private beach path, jacuzzi spa, Happy Talk Lounge bar on resort grounds, a professional staff, and more.

You will be able to walk in 5 minutes down to a private beach in front of the world class St. Regis Princeville Hotel -- the beach path begins at the foot of our stairs.

If you've spent a day soaking up the sun on the beach and are feeling too relaxed to walk back up the path, just call the resort and a a complementary shuttle will pick you up.

We have an assortment of beach mats and chairs, as well as coolers available to you. These are stored in the closets of bedrooms in our condo.

Family friendly Heaven

  • 5 of 5

The view is not the only absolutely perfect thing about this 3 bedroom Princeville vacation rental. It is close by, but far enough away from the stunning resort pool, the almost private beach, tennis courts and car park to make it very convenient and private. The island style furniture was very comfortable, the beds especially, and we all slept wonderfully. The care and efforts of the owner, rental company and especially the resort to look after us even checking back on us after our arrival was appreciated. The resort was very accommodating and not once did we feel like we were treated any differently to their other guests, as has been our experience in VRBO rentals in the past. This condo is spacious, clean and well stocked, we had everything we needed for our big family of 9. The resort was still undergoing pretty dramatic renovations (Jun/Jul 14) but these were only really obvious to us when sitting by the pool, which we did only a few times as the beach was so close. I would be back tomorrow if I could and can recommend wholeheartedly this vacation rental for big family's & family's with older children especially.

Slice of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

Start with the obvious- the view is AMAZING. Location is AMAZING (shares the same beach as the St Regis but a fraction of the cost). The condo is part of a complex (time share), which needs some updating and was undergoing rennovations at the time of our stay. The complex has tennis courts, nice pool, hot tub, BBQ area, and a very helpful staff. The owners are also wonderful to work with, all questions were answered, and reservations were easy.

The main unit is spacious, and the view from the living area and master bedroom are fabulous. Large bathroom, nice full-kitchen (full set of utensils, pots and pans, as well as limited supply ingrediants), and lovely balcony. Eating dinner on the balcony (not many mosquitos as other parts of the island) was blissful. The unit was spotless, and well maintained. The complex was NOT crowded, even in peak season, and it felt empty.

The location is great, short (5 minute) drive to grocery store and mini-mall (Lappert's Ice Cream), and 15 minutes from Hanalei and the small town with bars and restaurants.

It is NOT staying at a hotel, so do not expect those types of ammenities. This is perfect for a family who would prefer the peace and quiet and flexibility of cooking for themselves, and exploring Kauai. Highly recommended.

Breathtaking views, island inspired, clean, comfortable... I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

  • 5 of 5

With sweeping views of Hanalei Bay from three different balconies and a private beach just down the hill, this condo is without question my destination of choice whenever I visit Kauai. To complement the incredible location, the unit includes a fully equipped kitchen and spacious living room that make you feel right at home. So even when a tropical storm hits (as Flossie did during my last stay here), there's plenty to keep busy with inside, whether it's preparing an island-inspired feast or simply catching up on a little TV (there's a DVD player, too!). Within steps of the charming unit are tennis courts and the resort's gorgeous pool and jacuzzi. Plus, a set of garden barbecues accompanied by a countertop, sink, and picnic tables make cooking (and dining) outside a breeze. HBR is also a two-minute drive from the Princeville shopping center (where Foodland, an ice cream shop and more await) and just a few miles from the heart of Hanalei, where you can find delicious fish tacos, paddleboard rentals, and live music at Tahiti Nui, all a couple blocks from the ocean.

Not only is HBR, and this unit in particular, located amid the most picturesque surroundings, but it is well-maintained, tidy, and always a pleasure to vacation in. I recently returned from my third stay in the condo and can't wait to go back. A big MAHALO to the owners!

Incredible view, but...

  • 3 of 5

Incredible view, peaceful location, lots of birds and okay accommodations. There is no place to unpack your clothes. There are two smelling Asian cabinets, but they are not made for clothes and have had some kind of water damage. The dinning area needs a light. It is very dark at night. With only light from the kitchen. The kitchen has pans, dishes, utensils and glasses, but we rent a condo or home we expect at least salt and oil. You have to buy everything to cook and we could not find mini sizes of anything. Maybe the house keeping service takes it all?

I could live with all of that, because the view is incredible, but If you do not rent the whole third floor the people in the other units sound like they are in your room. That will jolt you from a deep sleep. :) To top it off, there is no wifi (free or not) you have to go the pool to use it. If you need internet connection it is $10 per day. My husband had to check into work five of the six days we were there. That was an extra $50 that we did not plan on spending and conducting business at the pool would not have worked, even if the wifi did.

Staying in Princeville means less bugs then staying in Hanalei or further north. That was nice, as we have one kid that gets eaten every year we go.

The restaurant at Hanalei Bay Resort (HBR) burnt down, so there is no food on site. The pool is not heated, but it was very pretty and in the summer I bet it is wonderful. The hot tub is great. HBR offers rentals on site for all kinds of beach gear. The prices reflect the convenience. The tennis courts are good. The grounds are well maintained. There are no elevators, but all you need in Hanalei is a bathing suit and cover up. :)

All and all it was fair, but the view makes it average.

Great Condo and Very Helpful and Nice Owners and Management Company !!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time renting this unit. The experience was wonderful. The unit is clean and nicely laid out. The kitchen was well supplied. The A/C worked perfectly but we did not need to use it for nearly the entire trip since the weather was perfect. The view is unbelievable - words cannot do it justice. We had read some previous reviews that stated some issues; but the owners and Gloria at the management agency addressed all of them and we had a wonderful stay. We would definitely book again. The resort (HBR) had just remodeled their pool as well. They have the nicest pool and grounds on the north shore as far as we can tell. Thanks to Denise, Rosie, and Gloria for their professional and friendly attitude, wonderful condo, and the great memories for our family.

Awesome, incredible view

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a family Christmas in Paradise, and we found just that in our condo at the HBR.Ten of us including our 2 adult children, their spouses, our grandkids ages 13, 4, and 3 as well as my sister stayed in this unit for 6 nights and never felt crowded. All rooms are big, bright, and airy. The HBR is so beautiful with its pools, tennis courts, flowers, trees, and other amenities. Its location is close to activities and restaurants. But nothing can top the view from this condo and view is what the HBR is all about. We have stayed in other units here and have never felt so close or drawn in by the view as we did in this condo. Finally, the owner is a delight to work with and very accommodating. For a big family/group, we give our highest, most glowing recommendation to this condo and its owner.
