*The rates provided by Stayz are based on a 4 bedroom stay (accommodating up to 8 guests). However, we can accommodate up to 18 guests. Apart from our 7 bedrooms, we also offer extra beds for an additional cost of $85 per night for a foldout bed and $60 for a rollaway per night.*

Perched high on forested Flagstaff Hill overlooking the town of Port Douglas and the Coral Sea, Villa Empat Puluh Dua is a place of peace. Sweeping views of rainforest, beach and mountains, the sound of falling water and breaking waves, birdsong and tropical breezes are Empat Puluh Dua's essence. The villa is a place for families and friends to be together, or for couples to retreat from the world. Revel in the myriad activities that Port Douglas has to offer or simply relax by the villas pool and do as little as you wish. The Villa has been designed so that smaller groups can stay without having to rent out the entire Villa. A minimum of 4 bedrooms can be leased out, but the great thing is the villa will be for your private use only.

Inspired by the architecture in Bali, Villa Empat Puluh Dua is imbued with a monumental, Asian feel - which is also reflected in the name, Indonesian for number 42. Spilling in a series of levels down a steep hillside, the villa makes use of space with multiple timber decks and terraces that offer private, tranquil retreats for outdoor relaxation, as well as being an ideal platform for entertaining. The facilities and services available give Villa Empat Puluh Dua the feel of an exclusive mini resort where almost anything can be arranged, and complete seclusion is possible.

The perfect place for a family get together

Villa Empat is an incredible place to stay. The very generous sized house and easily accommodated our family of 16 to catch up, soak in the vistas and relax in the pool.

Paradise in Port

This property has the most amazing view. We had two families staying here between Christmas and New Year and it was perfect for that amount of people. The pool area is amazing with a bar fridge and bathroom so close and a spectacular view over the ocean. The managers were so responsive and helpful. There are a lot of stairs to the main part of the house but they were worth it for the view and the facilities in the house.

Family gathering in Port Douglas.

Firstly we would all like to thank Thilo for the assistance he gave us to move in our groceries and perishable items in early. The house lived up to our expectations. Accommodating 8 adults and 7 children. The rooms were large with all family groups having their own rooms and the grandchildren having seperate rooms and en-suites. Beautiful home would recommend this house for family gatherings.

Your own personal resort

Villa Empat Puluh Dua is a great place to stay with a group. We stayed as a group of 16 women, with the stay culminating our 50th's. It's a great venue for group celebrations, or just a bunch of families holidaying together. Great pool area, great decks to relax on, plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms to give everyone some space. Yes, the access can be a challenge if mobility or fitness is an issue. Once you make it up the hill from town, there's 72 stairs to tackle before you make it to the front door. Don't let it turn you off though, as it's really not that bad. As one other reviewer commented, five minutes walk into town/beach, ten minutes walk back. There is an inclinator at the property, which would prove useful, however it wasn't working during our stay. Perhaps check with the host prior to your arrival so you can be prepared if you have to carry luggage/groceries etc up the stairs. Kitchen is well equipped with 2 fridges, and large gas stove/ plenty of utensils and plates etc for a large group. The bedrooms are a really good size, and all have fantastic views, but one. The 7th room (King room), which is right up the top (another 16 stairs...) has no view, and has shutters that open up to look over the lounge/dining area, which is not ideal if people are up late and you are trying to sleep. If your numbers reach up to the 18 that the house accommodates, the ottoman's are actually sofa-beds and not really suitable/comfortable for adults to sleep on. Ella, the host, and the Stayz contact were really easy to deal with and prompt in communication. Would recommend strongly considering this property if looking to holiday in Port Douglas. Would definitely stay again if it suited our requirements.

Stunning location and views

We rented the property to share with both friends and family after lockdown last year. With the beautiful views, large living area and kitchen we thought it would be perfect for a gathering of the 10 of us. The property turned out to be even more amazing than we thought. All of the rooms had ensuites and the kitchen was well appointed and supplied. The views from the living space and top bedrooms were incomparable. In all we had an amazing time, barely needing to leave the house except to top up supplies. Lots of space and a beautiful pool area. Certainly the best view in port Douglas!

Couldn't recommend this property more highly. Actually works out to be great value when large groups / families are involved. First time ever that the pictures do not do it justice - was even better than it looked in photos. Excellent standards of cleanliness and building very well maintained.

Probably better in the peak season

We recently rented Villa Empat for a family holiday. Helen was lovely and very helpful, however, there are some things you need to know about the property. 3 of the bedrooms can only be accessed by a veranda outside the villa. This means when it's pouring with rain, you will get wet! During our stay the roof leaked in the laundry and the washing machine broke down. The stairs up to the villa are also not covered so if it's raining, there is no way to get from the car park to the villa without getting wet. The air conditioner in the 3 outside rooms also don't have a temp control so it's either on or off. Our guests were very cold or very hot. Helen and John fixed everything we requested promptly, however, I wish we had known about the layout of the villa and the lack of covered outside area before we booked as it wasn't suitable for what we wanted.

Wonderful Experience

Have just come home from a wonderful family(16) holiday at Villa Empat Port Douglas for my husbands 70th birthday Ages ranged from 2yrs to 70yrs the house was fantastic for all plenty of room pool was great for kids Kitchen was great eating areas large BBQ was efficient Hill worked off the food & drink!! Thank you so much to Michelle at Stayz for her efficiency and to managers Helen & John for their attention to detail that made the whole experience "delicious'

We booked the entire house for my parent's 50th Anniversary in May. The house accommodated all of the family and we thoroughly enjoyed every aspect. Everything was delightful and made the memories even better for sharing them in such a fabulous spot. It is perfectly located to walk into the village or down to the beach, enough facilities to cater for all of our needs and special touches made us all feel special.

Super views

This property has superior views almost from everywhere on the property, even from the shower in the main bedroom! It is well equipped and comfortable. The design is unique and very interesting and the service extremely effecient and friendly. There is an elevator almost like a little cable car that takes you from the garage to the rest of the house which was fun to use, however it is a little bit time consuming if you have a lot of luggage (as we had with 3 families). An unique and lovely property which I would recommend any time!

IT DOESN'T GET BETTER THAN THIS!!!!!

I took 13 of my friends here for my 50th birthday!! The house, location, views, everything was amazing!! Plenty of room for all of us to have fun together but also enough room for anyone wanting some quiet time (bedrooms & bathrooms were gorgeous). It was windy on the hill but this made no difference to us. 5 minute walk to town, 10 back. Don't let the hill put you off, it's really not too hard!!!! Kitchen was fantastic, we had a couple who did all the cooking and they lacked for nothing!!! For us all to sit at the beautiful big table, eat amazing food and have that magnificent view, it really doesn't get any better!!! Excellent DVD & book selection!!! The pool area was well set up( bar, towels etc). Do yourselves a favour and RENT THIS HOUSE!!!! Best birthday I have ever had !!!! Thank you SO much Helen & John for allowing us time in this very special place !
