About Butch Short
We have owned and operated an outdoor store "Far-North Outfitters" in Bonners Ferry for 24 years, through out those years we have had many inquiries, as to if there was a log cabin on the river for rent, since we knew of no actual log cabins, right on the river, we set out to find the perfect spot ( took 5 years ), and build one ( 2 more years )..... And now, is completed and ready to be relaxed in....
Butch Short purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why Butch Short chose Sinclair
I chose this spot specifically because it's right in the middle of all the things we did with our 4 daughters growing up in the 80's.., floating the Moyie River, Hiking to Copper Creek Falls, swimming in the pools, picking huckleberries up Deer Ridge, fishing at Robinson and Sinclair Lakes, having dinners at Fiest Creek Resort, feeding the huge trout in the pond etc... Because of the beauty and uniqueness of Far-North Idaho , I wanted to share this with others as well as always having a place, no matter what crazy place they end up, that they can come back to , to reground , and to share with their children.

What a wonderful property! Such care and detail to ensure our stay was excellent. A great getaway from city life. The wild horse mercantile had great food and the owners were amazingly helpful.
Thank you Butch, We will be back!
This place is amazing! Everything it said it was an more!
The cabin is beautiful! Right on the river! The kitchen was fully stocked with tools, utensils, spices, oil, etc. We brought our own soup pot but they even had one of those! Also included in the stay was snowshoes, sleds, and even ice skates if we had wanted them! There was no one around for miles and it snowed for a day and a half, I was almost worried we were going to be snowed in, but it was the most beautiful scenery with the snow falling. My dog had more fun than I would have thought possible, constantly plowing through the snow and running circles around us as we attempted snow shoeing, which was super fun by the way! There was also access to internet tv and we were able to get caught up on the olympics we missed during our inside down time, which was pretty awesome. I learned to talk to "alexa" which was also kinda fun. I am dying to go back this summer so I can try out the kayaks and mountain bikes and see sinclair lake when it isn't covered in 2 feet of snow! This is the perfect place for a weekend getaway - I highly recommend it!
Perfection is the word I'd like to start things out with. From the Employees at the Far-North Outfitters store that you check in with to pick up the key and the GPS, then arriving to a well lit and warm cabin, seeing all the little details of the cabin that exist primarily for peoples visits. Everything has been very thoroughly thought out and rethought out. The whole experience is dialed in and on top of that the location of the cabin and then the cabin itself is perfect. Thank you Butch for having us and for making this an option in such a beautiful place, not sure there is anything else like it.
A little slice of heaven
We thoroughly enjoyed Little Moose Cabin and will remember our stay always. The cabin is very beautiful, very comfortable, and simply made relaxing and relieving stress inevitable in short order. The owners need to be commended for their knack of thinking of the tiniest things to make one feel welcome and to enjoy the time at this little slice of heaven. Simply outstanding and very impressive! There is much to do in the outdoors in all seasons. We thoroughly enjoyed being here in the winter (saw a lot of wild life) and can't wait to come back and enjoy during the warmer months.
Little Moose is a gem!
This was our second stay at this wonderful cabin on the Moyie River. The owner's sense of how to make you feel welcome is exceptional. Each detail adds to make this a place for both fun and relaxation. We had a lot of beautiful snow and were able to cross country ski and snowshoe right from the door. Wildlife is abundant. I sat in the hot tub with a light snowfall. They provide snowshoes, snow toys, games and even a lovely bottle of wine. Thank you so much!
Great location for quiet in a gorgeous setting!
Nice, quiet, and worth the drive. Cabin is beautiful and river front and the bed in the master was very comfortable. This cabin makes you want to get out and enjoy nature! Dishes are fairly limited but otherwise there is plenty to cook with.
