About The Owner

Jim and I live in Wisconsin, but always loved the Colorado mountains. We are empty nesters, I'm retired and manage the rental of our home in the mountains and Jim is still working.

Jim tried to live in CO going to and graduating from Denver University, back when Vail was just starting, but came back to WI to be in a family business.

Our son, on the other hand, was successfull in relocating to Denver after he too graduated from Denver U. He is fulfilling his passion for a year round outdoor active lifestyle as well as a career in the active and competitive restaurant business which Denver provides, and our son so enjoys.

Our daughter will graduate from the Kellogg School at Northwwestern this spring, so we will see where she lands, but CO isn't far from anywhere if the desire is strong.

The Owner purchased this house in 2006

Why The Owner chose Edwards

We built our home taking advantage of a land opportunity in an area we know well, Beaver Creek/Arrowhead. It gives us direct walking access to the mountain, about 100 yards.

This is the second home we have owned in 15 years and we love the location for the privacy and incredible convienience to the mountain as well as to the towns of Avon and Edwards and the village of Beaver Creek.

We love skiing in the winter and golf, hiking, and biking in the summer and it is all right here.

Jim has been going to Vail since 1963 and has always wanted to be a part of the Valley. This location gives us both. We can be in Vail in 13 minutes for all it has to offer then come home to the quiet and convienience of Beaver Creek/Arrowhead. We have access to two of the top five ski resorts in the world right out our door. In addition, some of the most beautiful golf views I've seen are also right in the area.

What makes this house unique

Our home offers seven bedrooms, and three living levels that is perfect for larger groups, especially multi-generational families. Two groups can have activites on two levels without interference.

We have a deck with a hot tub that provides the ideal end of active day relaxation.

I like to cook and have stocked the kitchen with cookware and utencils that can accomodate most anything. This kitchen is large enough to be the heart of the home and even has its own fireplace!

Lastly, I decorated this house with the pride of my primary home, to provide eye-pleasing comfort. It is a special place for me as it should be to our guests who want to vacation in the style of their own home. Additionally, the gated residential community we are in, provides pece of mind for security.

What an amazing house and location. We have spent 8 summers in the Vail Valley and this by far was the best location for our crew. We had 2 families at any given time and had more than enough space to spread out and enjoy. Great beds, kitchen and living. The location to Beaver Creek, Avon, and Edwards, along with the hiking trails is perfect. Very clean and functional. Great areas for the kids to enjoy the beautiful Colorado's summers. All in all couldn't have selected and better house or location.

Owner's Response: Finding the right house to rent is really hard and can make or break a vacation if the fit is not right!! I am so happy your family found the right fit for your needs and you were a pleasure to work with from the start! Thank you for your kind words and it was a pleasure working with you, James. Please consider us if you come back this way again!

A fabulous getaway. Wish I could have stayed longer. The photos do not do it justice. Everything about it is first class. It is beautifully furnished and the attention to detail is divine. Kudos!

Great house, ideal location!

  • 5 of 5

The house exceeded my expectations. Even as a seasoned VRBOer who researches thoroughly before signing on, there's always some trepidation as you enter a property for the first time. No worries, it was better than the pictures and suited our large (11 people) family group perfectly. The kitchen/great room were at the ground level, with the 7 BRs located on the upper and lower levels, so coming in w/ groceries was easy. Great kitchen/DR made for memorable meals with this family of cooks. Especially loved what we described as the kibbitzing area (chairs flanking the fireplace in the kitchen) so the cooks always had company/advice. Particularly appreciated the well stocked "pantry" (wraps, paper towels, trash bags, dishwashing soap & detergent) which meant we didn't need to buy a zillion groceries that would ultimately be left behind. Makes it feel more homey than a completely stripped down condo where you're lucky to have an extra roll of tissue.

Barb, the owner, was spot on describing the location & its access to so many amenties/activities. A great hiking trail was a stone's throw from the house and we walked to the pool daily. The kids (ages 6-11) loved their sense of freedom with easy access to the trails and lawn area outside the restaurant closed for the summer season. Very quick, easy ride up the mountain to the village of Beaver Creek. Enjoyed the summer adventure activities, shopping, free concert in the park, yoga. Many activities very close by, including fishing, paddle boarding, rafting. Avon (5 minutes) offered groceries, more shopping & of course the rodeo which was a big hit.

Everyone wants to come back!

Luxury Ski Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I just wanted to thank you for the opportunity to rent such a lovely, well appointed house for our ski getaway! Since this is our second stay at this property, I thought I would write a review. The location is wonderful, and the house is warm and welcoming. The house presents all kinds of opportunities for home entertaining (very well-equipped kitchen designed by an ambitious and creative cook, large dining area, deck for grilling and hot tubing and a wet bar in the rec room and large fireplaces). Being an architect, I really appreciate the vaulted ceilings, lots of light from the large expanse of windows and the thoughtful floor plan. Love to ski but are over the "roughing it" stage. At this point we enjoy the comfort of our own bedroom and being a few steps to the lift, We heartily enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend your property!! Thanks again

Owner's Response: Thank you, Mark, for your generous comments. We bought our house for the location to Beaver Creek and we appointed it to our lifestyle and for entertaining groups, but I appreciate your "Architect's Eye" description. It gives me a fresh point of view! It has been a pleasure to work with you and I hope you keep us in mind for your returns!

3 Families - Perfect Set Up!

  • 5 of 5

3 Families, 14 People - We frequently travel as a group and this house was absolutely perfect - each couple had their own master suite upstairs and the kids were incredibly comfortable in the other four suites, two floors below. High end equipped Kitchen, beautiful Dining area and two living rooms were all large enough to accommodate our group! House is beautifully decorated throughout. We had a great time summer 2014, and are planning a trip to ski - hope this is available when we finally pick our ski dates for 2014/15.
