Description

Invalides Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

This elegant and luxurious Left Bank pied a terre is centrally-located, in a lovely and chic neighborhood, a few blocks from two metro stations (Varenne and Solferino) and a short walk to the Musee Rodin, Assemblee National, Musee d'Orsay, and Hotel des Invalides. Rue Cler, one of the best street markets in Paris, is a ten-minute walk from the front door, as is Rue du Bac, a fantastic shopping street featuring everything from lively cafes and elegant food shops to the Bon Marche department store. If you like the idea of staying in a quiet, very Parisian neighborhood within a short walk to all the bustle of Saint Germain, this is the place for you.

Located on the fourth floor (French) of an 1860's Directoire-style building with elevator, the apartment has been completely renovated. It features wood parquet floors, double-glazed windows finished with beautiful silk curtains, a mixture of antique and modern furniture, original art, and modern conveniences including wireless Internet, a flat screen Cable TV, a DVD player and Bose stereo system. It is ideal for a family of four to five with older children or for four adults open to sharing a single bathroom and separate WC (toilet room). Central air conditioning was recently added.

The entrance hall, featuring a decorative antique stove and ample storage/coat hanging space, opens into a brightly-lit living room/dining room. There is a marble fireplace (decorative only) with a Directoire-style mirror, comfortable sofa and chairs, the TV/stereo equipment and an oriental rug. The dining area features an antique 'bibliotheque' in rich walnut and a matching dining room table that can expand to seat eight people. The kitchen is entirely modern and equipped with gourmet cookware and recipes for people who enjoy cooking as well as a microwave, toaster oven, dishwasher and easy-to-use espresso maker for those looking for speed and convenience.

Both bedrooms are bright and comfortable, with windows overlooking the street. They are outfitted with luxurious sheets, feather pillows and comforters. The queen bedroom, with its cream and gold tones, features side tables, individually controlled reading lamps and a walk-in closet with a dresser and additional space for clothes. The larger bedroom has a king-sized bed (which can be converted into two twin beds), a built-in bookcase, two small closets and a long side table, which can be expanded to form a large desk.

The bathroom has been completely remodeled, with recessed lights, a large mirrored cabinet, a spacious walk-in shower, a sink with a large shelf below, and a towel warming rack. The toilet is in a separate room at the end of a curving hall hung with interesting photographs. Laundry facilities (a separate washer and dryer, both new) are located behind sliding doors.

Fabulous apartment and location.

  • 5 of 5

This beautifully appointed apartment is in a perfect location, just blocks from the Musée Rodin, the Musée d'Orsay, and the Musée de l'Orangerie, and only a short, lovely walk to Saint-Germain-des-Prés. It is spacious, comfortable, and elegant with everything needed for an independent stay in Paris.

It is on a street with an excellent bus route that will get you across Paris from the Eiffel tower to the Père Lachaise cemetery. The apartment is close to all sorts of shopping choices and excellent restaurants. The owners have provided detailed guides to local sights and restaurants etc.

The two bedrooms are comfortable and spacious, and there is a conveniently organized kitchen and delightful dining and living room combination. Shower is excellent and includes washer and dryer. The wifi works perfectly. One can phone the United States for free up to quite a few minutes a day!

Ask the owners for the name of their guide and driver who can take you to and from the airport, as well as around Paris and vicinity.

Coming home to this apartment after touring all day, was such a delight and a respite. It was a perfect choice for us.

Excellent Apartment for Experienced Travelers

  • 5 of 5

Experienced traveler here. This was our 20th+ trip to Paris. We used to live in France. We were looking for a quiet place with good access.

This is a first rate apartment experience. Clean, functional (even American in terms of appliances and the like), quiet, double safe, good location. It is likely a great candidate for someone familiar with Paris. Less so for a first-timers. Ideal for those willing to work through a few details in exchange for a great stay. Not for those unable to get around. Walking and stairs are the price you pay for a great place like this.

The recommended shuttle from airport is -- well, recommended. Same for leaving. More experienced folks can take a cab to the apartment. Not too many cabs for leaving.

Near many tourist spots once you look at a map and walk a few paces. Near great shopping. Grocery store nearby. Several good restaurants nearby. A guest book has good reviews of local spots.

The apartment has real wood floors. Upgraded appliances, shower and bathroom. Good couch and chairs for relaxing. Good beds with nice size rooms. Way better than the 15 hotels we've stayed in. Larger fridge. Dishwasher. Washer/Dryer. Iron. Blowdryer. Microwave. TV to catch headlines. Internet. All was functional and of good quality.

The experience with owners was first rate. Well worth the price to have competent owners genuinely concerned for you as their guest. I hadn't seen any negatives before we signed up. There was a change in local managers before we came -- we were the first, but I can only report that the managers did their jobs well. We really liked the shuttle and initial orientation.

There were enough basics in the apartment to get you started. We filled up with additional items the first night. (This isn't a hotel people! Bring or buy what you need).

There is a Regus Executive Suite NEXT DOOR! For those who can't escape business, it is a great place to escape for a half-day and do real business.

In all, one of my best stays. I will be returning again thanks to great owners and a great apartment.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for the review. We agree that it's not a super touristy location but there are many things within a few short blocks (two metro stops, Les Invalides, great restaurants, Musee Rodin, Musee D'Orsay, rue du Bac and St Germain). And, lest anybody worry, we want to make it clear that there is an elevator up to the apartment, a taxi service you can call, and a bus running past our building. We do love hosting first-timers and are happy to offer all sorts of advice about nearby places to visit, restaurants to check out, etc.

A perfect Paris jewel box

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this jewel box of an apartment for the month of December 2013. We didn't see a single drop of rain the entire month but, if we had, we would have been more than content to hunker down indoors and enjoy the beauty, comfort and charm of this perfect Paris apartment. The owners have truly thought of everything, and have combined old world Parisian charm with new. modern amenities (excellent wifi, washer AND dryer etc.) that are easy to operate. Thirty nights in Paris, and we only ate out three of them, as we so enjoyed the nearby open air markets and the perfect little kitchen in which to prepare our meals. Double paned windows and a quiet residential street (combined with very comfy beds) ensured that we slept well. In addition to a five star rating for the apartment (perfect location, too -- close to everything, but in a true neighbourhood away from the madding crowds), the rental agency and the owners also get five stars. Very receptive and responsive; there was never a thing to worry about and, if there had been, we knew there was immediate and friendly help just a click or call away. We loved this place.

Perfect Location, Wonderful Apartment in Every Way!

  • 5 of 5

We simply could not have asked for more! We booked this flat because friends stayed there a few years ago. They were captivated by its charms...and so were we! We were able to walk to major attractions such as Les Invalides, Musee D'Orsay and the Seine, Tour Eiffel, Metro, and more. The immediate neighborhood is great with 2 grocery stores, many restaurants, and plenty of banks/cash machines. And the flat itself? Charming beyond words with its French windows and wood-plank floors. The bedding in particular is fantastic! Luxurious sheets and fabulous mattresses. I would love to replicate them here at home! Towels are plush. The kitchen well stocked - in fact we loved cooking in it. The owners have left a wonderful library of tour books, reading material, and DVD movies. Three air conditioners helped us during the heat wave in Paris. Double-paned windows and very quiet neighbors provided respite from the busy city. (I should add that with our teenage son, there was plenty of room to spread out and have some privacy). The management company was on top of our arrival in every way. Oh, and the washer/dryer were user-friendly and handily in the WC. We would return here in a heartbeat. And we recommend this flat highly.

A Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

Everything about the apartment is so chic, elegant and perfect. Upon arrival, the owners left us a bottle of wine, baguette and cheese. We had 2 cell phones to use during our stay to keep in touch with each other as well as make local calls. All the appliances are updated and modern. The shower and bathroom were great. The apartment is SPOTLESS. The washer AND dryer were a godsend, the kitchen was equipped with everything you would need.Everything was so beautifully appointed and best of all, the beds. BEYOND COMFORTABLE. Frette linens made you feel like you were sleeping on silk. I felt so spoiled - it was wonderful. The location is so close to everything. Easy walk to the St. Germain, Eiffell Tower, Musee D'orsay, ( a can't miss) The Louvre and the Metro. It was quiet w/o being boring. You will be glad you booked this gem. I am anxious to return.
