About the property

2 Bedroom, 1 Bath Newly Remodeled Cottage With An Amazing View! Sleeps 1-4

Imagine driving to a secret hide-away nestled in a deep canyon with a beautiful river valley - a magical land that borders the west side of majestic Zion National Park. Our enchanting Cottage is situated on the famous 750 acre Sunset Canyon Ranch conveniently located for adventures in Zion National Park, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Bryce Canyon, Snow Canyon and even Las Vegas. After a day of exploring our beautiful country with the hustle and bustle of other tourists, you can look forward to returning to the comfort of your private Shangri-la where you can take a leisurely walk, go for a swim in the pool, hike to a secret waterfall, play a round of tennis, or have a barbeque in the spacious outdoor pool area.

The west side of Zion National Park, only minutes away by car, is one of the best kept secrets and is home to some of Zion's most famous hikes, including the Subway, West Rim, and Hop Valley. Here you can also investigate ancient caves with Indian Petroglyphs. Yet the Park's main entrance in Springdale is only 18 minutes away where shuttles will take you to the many other hikes the Park has to offer, like Angel's Landing, Weeping Rock, Sinewava, and Emerald Pools. Springdale offers some terrific shopping and dining as well.

For many years we've opened our doors to travelers from all over the world and the telling tale is this: they come back again and again and refer us to their friends and family. Accommodations fill up quickly, so booking early in the season is suggested.

About Vickie Moyle

We purchased this working ranch in 1993 after retiring from a very busy life in the big city. We never dreamed it would bring us such peace, joy, and wonderful associations with people from all over the world who have chosen to stay with us. We consider ourselves blessed to wake up in Zions every day!

Why Vickie Moyle chose Virgin

There is nothing like the Sunset Canyon Ranch in the whole of Zions. To be able to spend the day out in the various parks (Zions, Bryce, north rim of the Grand Canyon, Snow Canyon) and the myriad other tourist activities is great fun --- but to return to the exclusivity, privacy, beauty and comfort of one of the most remarkable settings after the bustling crowds is heaven itself! Our clients never fail to tell us how lucky they felt to have found our property to rent!

What makes this cottage unique

The Cottage is cozy and beautiful inside (remodeled interior-2015) However, the most unique benefit of coming to the Cottage is that it is nestled in the heart of the Sunset Canyon Ranch, which is a beautiful river valley surrounded by sandstone and lava rock cliffs with a stunning view of Cougar Mountain. The ranch offers many amenities such as hiking, biking, walking, swimming (in either the pool or the river), fishing, peace and privacy. It is away from all the hustle and bustle of tourism in the park. We also have stables for horses if you happen to be a horseback riding group coming to this area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

FIVE-STAR: We stayed at the Ranch with our 9 and 10 year-old children. This home was the first stop on our journey throughout the states, ending in San Diego. It was the place we said we wished could follow us at every stop on our trip. It's an amazing place to explore; with horses to feed and watach; a pond/lagoon to paddle in and fish; a private pool area that's serene and welcoming. Vickie, Heinz, and Hank are great people - warm, welcoming and friendly. The two bedroom home was wicked! It was like being at home - all of the little details are taken care of. This home is the place to stay. We are returning and bringing more people with us. THank you, Vickie.

Second time staying in the Cottage, LOVED IT AGAIN

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Cottage for our original honeymoon and again recently for our twelfth anniversary. It was the most sentimental and memorable night we’ve spent in all our years together. The house was so cozy and romantic. We’d recommend it to anyone who wants to reconnect. SK - Utah

Magical location

  • 5 of 5

The beds are comfortable, the shower is hot, and the ranch is incredible! Vickie is very enthusiastic and fun, be sure to ask for some insider recommendations of hiking just around the corner and away from the crowds (the house is just by the west side of the park, so much to explore). We were here over Thanksgiving, and she even invited us to Thanksgiving with the family! So nice. Book this place - you will be glad you did!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review, Jenna. Thanksgiving is a lovely time to be here in the park, especially this year with the autumn leaves still on the trees. It was a pleasure to host you and your family and we hope you find time to visit our corner of the world again. Blessings - Vickie

A rare find

  • 5 of 5

The cottage has it all. It's very comfortable, in beautiful condition, well-equipped, and secluded from the bustle of the park. Vickie and Hank were available and happy to provide information and tips on what to do---though we didn't need much. No TV if that matters to you. And about a 25 minute drive to the main entrance to the park if that matters to you. A rare find.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. We're sorry the construction in the park slowed your driving time, but we're so glad you enjoyed your trip here. We hope to have you as a guest in the future. We certainly enjoyed meeting you. I thought my husband was going to adopt you on the spot! Vickie

Beautiful and Tranquil Oasis

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunset Canton Ranch Valley. The house and property are beautiful, well appointed and very private. There is a lot of attention to detail both inside and out, from a very cozy fluffy feather bed to beautiful flowers all around the grounds. The fireplace was a great perk on cool October nights.

The location is great for exploring the area yet very private and remote. We cannot wait to come back!

Paradise Found!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were fortunate enough to find this gem of a cottage located in the middle of a beautiful working ranch. The ranch itself is like a green oasis in the desert mountains of Zion. The location could not be more perfect - within a half hour ride to Zion and the wonderful little town of Springdale, two hours to Bryce Canyon and two-and-a-half hours to the north rim of the Grand Canyon. The drives to each of these national treasures is so beautiful that sometimes we just didn't want them to end. We visited all three parks in three days. A bonus to these excursions is that you have to drive the incredible 12+ miles through Zion to get to Bryce or the Grand Canyon. We completely lucked out on our return from Bryce when we drove back through Zion during sunset - what an experience!

The cottage is lovely and has everything (and then some) you could imagine. It was extremely clean (the way I like it) and included instructions for everything. We particularly enjoyed the outside patio area which was decorated with beautiful flowers and plants. You could hear the running water of a nearby stream which added to the ambiance. The only things that could have possibly made the patio better in the evening would have been a sort of fire pit (it was cool) and a gas grill (there is one but it is located in the pool area - a bit of a walk from the cottage).

Hank and Vickie, the Owners, were incredibly gracious and generous with their time. They explained all of the ins and outs of the area and provided valuable advise. They even told us about a little riverbed located near the property (just a 10 minute drive and walk) where we would be able to see real dinosaur tracks. She even left a broom at this remote location to be able to sweep out the dirt. This was the frosting on the cake for us and this trip.

We hope to return to this very same ranch one day with our grown children and rent the larger log cabin that is also available on the property. We walked around it before the renters arrived and from the outside - it looks like it would be perfect for our large family.

All of this being said .... trust me if you are thinking of renting this property ... you won't be disappointed!

A Niche of Garden Splendor in the Midst of the Utah Desert

  • 5 of 5

Sunset Canyon Ranch dazzles with its white fenced green pastures and colorful flora, framed by the soaring Utah red rock canyon walls. Vickie and Hank have nurtured the vintage buildings into cozy, contemporary retreats which literally vibrate with color and patterned texture. It is a place to soothe the soul...a place like no other! And you know it from the moment you leave the Kolob Terrace road and literally drop down into the lush canyon!
