About this property

Luxury Oceanfront Lodge with mountain view and natural Geothermal hot spring

The Luxury Lodge is part of Hvammsvik Estate, a private 1200 acre estate along the coast enjoying spectacular nature and views, only 40 min away from Reykjavik. Its a magical place where you become one with nature in a rustic yet luxurious lodge with top quality furniture and art. There is a private geothermal pool, fishing lake and its close to many of Iceland's nature pearls like the Golden Circle and Glymur and multiple hike and bike paths. Scenes in Game of Thrones where shot at Hvammur.

The Luxury Lodge was completely renovated in the 2017 and is part of Hvammur Farm. It has an exceptional panoramic view overlooking a lake and the Whale Fjord bay. It's a rustic but luxurious lodge with all the modern and updated appliances. The floor plan is open with a new kitchen that opens up to the dining area and living room. The open floor plan with windows on all sides highlight the amazing views from all angels. The lodge has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The Lodge is ideal for a family or two couples. The Lodge is full of original Icelandic art by many of Iceland's most promising artists however ultimately its all about the surrounding mountains, the ocean and becoming one with nature. Starting in September you can see some of the most incredible northern lights covering the sky with their magic. Since its part of a private estate you can walk around the property for hours and in the surrounding mountains in complete privacy simply enjoying the peacefulness, the ocean and the mountains.
Hvammsvik Estate consists of several old farm buildings and a large barn that have been newly renovated to meet all modern needs while still keeping the integrity and rustic charm of its origin. One of the unique elements of Hvammsvik Estate is that it is entirely self sufficient both for its hot and cold water both of which are sourced within the Estate. There is a Geothermal hot spring at the oceans edge which is available to our guests and the same well provides all the hot water for the property. There are over 30 different types of birds in and around Hvammsvik. Wild sheep roam around and if you are lucky you can spot the Arctic Fox roaming around. The Arctic Fox is a small and completely harmless Fox that changes colors with the seasons. There are also a lot of mussels around the islands on the property that are accessible in low tide and are delicious to cook. The season for picking fresh Mussels is September through December. We also highly recommend that our guests visit the newly opened Hvammsvik Hot Springs on the estate where you can enjoy eight hot springs that linger on the edge of the ocean. At the hot springs you can also enjoy great small dishes and a delicious seafood soup from our bistro, Stormur.

Wonderful - definitely want to return!
This place was simply amazing! There was a very small issue with our booking and instead of staying in the lake house we were moved to the hilltop house and all I can say is WOW! The property in general is just incredible with 360 degree views. The hot springs were so relaxing. The hilltop house sits on a hill and you can’t get enough of the scenery. The house was stocked with everything we needed to cook dinner (no microwave which was fine) and we had plenty of space with our family of four. They even had a Christmas tree set up! We would love to come back in the summer when we can enjoy more of the outdoors. Thank you for opening your home to us.

Scenic Property
Beautiful area. The cottage is a nice size and is comfortable. Be aware there are more houses near, as well as a retreat like place in the vicinity. We saw seals, eider ducks and the northern lights in a 3 day stay.

pretty amazing
Very nice property with amazing views. The pictures are accurate and representative. The house is in a small cluster of other rental properties (though there is good separation between) located in a large estate that is being developed as a recreational property. Two things the VRBO ad didn’t mention when we rented – The private hot spring fed pool is shared between all the rental houses (four houses maybe). It is not located at the house but a ten or so minute walk away on the shore (could also drive). There is also a hot spring resort that brings in a fair number of day trippers (and available discounted to the house renters). The resort, its entry and parking, are separated from the rental houses and you don’t even know it’s there unless you walk over. The resort has a small and quite good (sandwiches, soups, and salads) restaurant which is very handy since the house is isolated with no access to groceries or other restaurants. The restaurant can be crowded so call ahead.

Amazing for making memories
It was an absolutely breathtaking estate on the fjord surrounded by mountains. The Hot Spring Spa was the perfect conclusion to an incredible day of hiking. It really isn’t near much in the way of a town so you definitely need to rent a car and travel to other areas. Overall, we’d definitely stay again!

Absolutely Breathtaking!
Rented the Lake House as a home base for our stay in Iceland and it was amazing! The views, property and seclusion are breathtaking. The added bonus of having Hvammsvik Hot Springs on the property- a short walk or drive- was heaven. There is a hot spring reserved just for house guests located separately on the property. Location is great for taking day trips to the East part of island, Golden Circle, Reykjavík and Reykholt Valley. The house is beautiful! Well appointed living/kitchen open floor plan. The beds are comfortable. Outside patio and a fire circle to take in sunrises/sunsets or star gaze. This is where I plan to stay whenever in Iceland. You will not be disappointed.
