Description

This quaint historic building was once the Patonga School House and has also been a general store. We have chosen to nickname the house, POSH (Patonga’s Old School House) because it’s easier to say than the lengthy name.

POSH is an historic building but was sympathetically renovated creating an open, airy, ambient atmosphere inside whilst retaining the quaint, ‘old school’ appearance. POSH is now a comfortable, open plan, casual beach house.
POSH is within a few moments easy level stroll to all amenities that Patonga has to offer which includes the Coffee Shop, Renowned Fish and Chip Shop as well as the Patonga Boathouse Hotel which serves great meals.

Of course there is also the beach, creek and Patonga Wharf across the road from the coffee shop, great to wander out on to the wharf to sip your coffee enjoying the views, the sunshine and waterside activities.

This house has a light and airy ambience. It offers open plan, casual living, a well equipped galley kitchen, with 2 actual bedrooms, a sleeping space as per mud map/house plan and 2 modern bathrooms. The living space opens onto a private courtyard which nestles beneath a stunning cliff highlighted by the spotlights at night.

PLEASE NOTE: As of 1st March 2020, the configuration of the bedrooms at POSH will change to allow us to maintain a private room which is used as storage and maintenance. No one will be present or access this room during your stay, The house will still sleep seven and have a Queen, Double and Sofa Bed, sleeping six however a portacot and roll out trundle is available if required.

If you require the cot or the trundle bed, please, let us know as they are stored.

Ceiling fans - throughout the house add to the sea breeze in summer and in winter there is a R/C air conditioning to keep the house cosy. Go to sleep to the sound of the waves.

Easy street parking.

Sleeping Arrangements -There are two actual bedrooms;

Bedroom One (queen size bed).
Sleeping area - Sofa Bed
Bedroom Two (Double bed).
All the beds have electric blankets, bedside lamps as well as ceiling fans and remote controlled lights.

Cot- There is a portable cot, linen, towels, highchair and a potty also available if needed.
A roll out trundle is also available but notification to get it out is required as it is stored.

Linen - Linen and towels are provided for guests noted on the details form.

Towels – are provided, Beach Towels are not supplied.

Living Areas – there is a living/lounge areas, with a large screen, wall mounted TV and DVD/Multi Media player. A selection of DVD movies is also available as well as some books. The dining table seats 8 persons comfortably, great for a family get together and under the pergola is an area where a quiet moment can be enjoyed with a good book and a cup of tea or coffee.

BBQ- is available on the deck under the pergola.

Tea. Coffee, Sugar, Condiments,Paper towel, Hand soap, Toilet Paper, Wash Powder,
Kitchen Detergent, Dishwasher Tablets, cloths, Fly Spray etc all provided.

Pets – Metal bowls provided.This property is Pet Friendly but only upon negotiation with owners as there are hygiene and cleanliness requirements to adhere to if you wish to bring a pet ie, no animals are permitted in the house, checking the yard for dog waste and disposing of accordingly.

The premises is fully fenced however due to recent heavy storms etc we have ‘decommissioned’ the back yard so that water mitigation works and subsequent landscaping can be undertaken so it is not accessible.

Netflix is now connected.
Internet connection is available but will require a password, please request the password.
(Please note the reception for the Internet can be quite sketchy!)

Purpose of Visit
Patonga is a quiet fishing village, a very special place not very far from Sydney, where a you can relax, do as much as you wish or as little as you wish, cook as much as you like or not at all, go on long walks or short walks or not at all. It is quiet and we’d like to keep it that way by asking that the rights of neighbours and the community is respected.

POSH is a place where families get together, relax, enjoy the ambience, enjoy the beach, watch the stars, watch the birds, watch a movie, take the kids on a walk, to the playground, play a game of hit and giggle at the tennis courts, fish, swim, paddle, sunbake or just let the world rush on by.

We rarely book back to back so that allows us to be flexible with arrival and departure times.

The house is two bedrooms, one sleeping area which is not a seperate room, two bathrooms, sleeping six, a cot and a roll out trundle is (please ask us if required as they are stored) available as well as amenities including bath towels and bed linen.

NB- The total number of guests staying MUST be nominated at the time of booking.

One room has been closed off for maintenance and private use. There will no persons utilising that room during any guest stays.

The house is also walking distance to the Patonga Hotel who offer a courtesy bus as well as other facilities.

Patonga Schoolhouse is NOT available for parties or other occasions that create noise or disturbance to others. Patonga Schoolhouse is therefore NOT available for bucks' weekends, "schoolies week" etc.

There is a ‘MINIMUM TWO NIGHT STAY’

Good ambience and nice to live-in but little natural light and terrible yard condition which we understand but was only explained to us the day before we checked-in. As a pet friendly accommodation, the pets had to stay outside in dust and mud.

A lovely well-equipped retreat
A great property - location, facilities and comfort all excellent. Kerry was responsive and friendly at all times and we felt very welcome. They’d thought of everything. Owing to the location in Patonga phone reception limited (better with Telstra) but didn’t bother us too much. We’d love to stay again and recommend to other travellers. Thanks Kerry!

Great pet friendly property
We really enjoyed staying at this property with our pets. The house was very comfortable, well equipped and had everything that you could need. There was a huge selection of DVD's which the kids really enjoyed. This house is perfect, the only thing it's missing is an air conditioning system.

The Patonga Old School House is a Heritage Listed home built around 1919. It has been renovated and provides a quaint ambient atmosphere conducive to relaxation. It's a level home and sleeps seven persons and has the facilities suitable for a baby or young child/ren. Fully equipped kitchen, BBQ and pergola is perfect for family get togethers and reunions.
A short level stroll to the bay, beach, boat ramp and shore walks as well as the newly renovated Boat House Hotel and Restaurant which is open for early morning coffee, breakfasts etc and offers sensational beachfront views.
We have furnished and equipped the house with a view to guests comfort and although only a short walk to the hotel, it is very quiet and pet friendly (upon negotiation).
