A wonderful way to visit the area! Great view of the beach, easy access down the hill, cooling breeze at night. Checkin and checkout were easy. Excellent communication by the host. We hope to return in the future.

House overlooking Avila Beach

One of the best locations along the beach - away from the commercial eating areas but yet so close to the beach - the views were exceptional - I am a Landlord in Montana and I would probably have the interior painted. I would stay there again.

Awesome location

You can't beat this location and views of the ocean! Steps to the beach and restaurants and amazing views of the ocean from the large deck, the living room and the bedroom. The property host was super responsive and helpful when we accidentally locked ourselves out. :-)

Perfect view

View is the center piece to this home away from home. No comfortable furniture except for the bed. Stove and oven don't work but a hotplate and toaster oven are in it's place. Also 3 charcoal grills avaliable for use. Which we did daily. It's like stepping back in time with the decor. But like the title says. The view is priceless. All said and done, we'd definitely stay here again.

Dingy, misleading house

The location is fantastic and the views are great. However, the property is very run down, dingy, and smelled bad. For the price, this low level of quality is unacceptable.

This property is completely accurate to the photos and the description, it is a true vintage beach home with classic furnishings and an unbeatable location. It's very competitively priced for what you get, but we get these kinds of reviews from people who don't pay enough attention to what they're reserving and then their expectations are impossible to meet. This guest even received complimentary early-check-in, but still couldn't be pleased. We're happy to answer and all questions thoroughly and honestly before you book to see if this property will be a good fit for you. Vintage properties are not for everyone.

Best location in Avila

The location is the highlight here, incredible views and very short walk to coffee and related. The rental process is flawless, the team is efficient and precise. The listing description is accurate, so be sure to read it and the other reviews. I agree with both the negative and positive are reviews, it's just a matter of expectations and premise of your trip. We are easy going and the value and location was more important and had a good idea of what to expect by reading the description and reviews. I think if the owner leaned into the mid-century beach vibe but freshened the interior paint and features, they would have a real gem of premium option, but as-is we enjoyed the period correct features as it aligned with our goals of living more simply for a spell.

Uncomfortable

For a weekend this place might be okay but we stayed for a month. Retro/vintage is cute, but doesn’t give an excuse for broken furniture, dirty dishes and an oven/stove that doesn’t work. Asked for a refund when we got there but were denied. Disappointed

Thank you for the notes, we agree it is not as suitable for a long-term renter if they plan to do a lot of cooking. We do mention in the AD Kitchen Stove/Oven currently not operating. Equipped with breakfast bar, small appliances - convection oven and hot plate, dishes, cookware. Retro oven replaced with countertop electric convection oven and because it is vintage (family heirloom), they are removing it, but we can't until it is vacant for some time, and they have to cut the doorway to get it out due to its size so the alternative hotplates and convection over are provided. The chairs have been removed and stored for the owner (also heirlooms) and no one has reported them broken in the past, so we apologize that happened. Guests have to clean dishes when they depart as part of your check out procedures, but we did ask housekeeping to double check them each time, as that cannot always be trusted and if you call within 24 hours, we would have been glad to send housekeeping to re-wash those. We are sorry you did not enjoy everything, but location & view are to die for...hopefully that at least made you happy!

196 Front Street, Avilla Beach

The location is very good. The rooms were clean. The furnishings are mostly quite old and eclectic. The ceiling lights required a tall person to pull the cord. Pluses: The view of Avila Beach is superb. And the window shades are are very good at controlling the afternoon sunlight when the temperature rises. Minuses: The biggest disappointment was discovering that the gas stove was nonfunctional. There was only an old 2-burner electric unit placed on top of the gas burners of the stove. This unit was barely working and it took forever even to heat a kettle (also too old) of water. We had planned to cook all our meals but were forced to make major adjustments and scale back considerably. The contents of all the kitchen drawers (except for one containing a silverware organizer) were filled with unorganized very old utensils simply tossed in piles. The cotton duvet on the king-sized bed is extremely heavy. During the night it tended to slide off the bottom of the bed and had to be wrestled back up. Sometimes one of us had to get up and pull it up at the foot of the bed. It would be nice to have a night light in the bathrooms.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Views from the deck, sitting inside by the big clear windows and from the bedroom were amazing. The bed was very comfortable. The Window facing the beach has some weird bubbling film on it so it took away from that view. We expected the retro furuniture, bathroom, kitchen as all looked as they did in the pictures. However, stained dish towels, old used pans, etc are not necessary for the "retro" feel. Replacing hand towels, towels, would not take a away from it. The BBQ was dirty, yes you can burn stuff off but it should be cleaned. The vent above the non working stove was filthy and has dust and dirt hanging from it. In the bedroom one the screens on one of the windows has several tears/holes. Its sad the little details take away from the stay. Also when I went to open the curtains for the great view in the living room and pulled on the rope my hand had a black streak when I was done. We would love to give it a 5 the views and location are a 5, but due to the things we are mentioning can only give an overall of a 3.
