Plan your getaway to this cozy cabin located on a peninsula with a 180 degree view of beautiful Maple Lake. Whether you're looking for a romantic weekend,a cozy winter getaway or fun filled summer vacation, Maple Leaf Cabin is your lakeside retreat!
Maple Lake is a 172 acre, mile long all sports lake just 2 hours from both Chicago and Detroit, with easy access from I-94.
Recently remodeled and ready for your visit, Maple Leaf Cabin features a bedroom with full sized bed with 100% cotton sheets and quilt. The cabin also has an indoor dining area, modern kitchen and bath, laundry and an outside enclosed hot shower (in addition to the regular ceramic tile shower inside). The cabin features a huge screened porch with floor to ceiling views of the lake. Enjoy meals from the large square picnic table, take afternoon naps, play board games or read by lamplight.
The cabin also has wonderful outdoor space, with a deck, fire pit, picnic table and plenty of adirondack chairs to relax and enjoy the view of the lake while sipping morning coffee or sampling a glass of local wine.
Dine out in local restaurants and pubs or create your own feast from local farmstands and (if you're lucky) your own catch of the day! Fish off the seawall or paddle the lake in our canoe. Or cruise the lake on Miss Maple, our pontoon boat--great for fishing, basking in the sun or sipping cocktails at sunset (extra charge applies). Hunt for antiques, stroll a few blocks for ice cream or a movie in Paw Paw's vintage theatre ($3!) or visit a u-pick farm or local winery. Check out the microbrews at the Paw Paw Brewing Co.--don't forget to bring the growler from the cabin for a refill. Or relax and do nothing...It's always great to get away to Maple Leaf Cabin--and don't forget your pets!

We love getting away and enjoying time at the cabin. We like to relax on the porch, sip wine while taking Miss Maple on a spin around the lake, then throw some steaks on the grill. When we're not antiquing or gardening, we play with our chocolate lab Riptide--he loves to swim and fetch toys from the lake. Come visit the cabin--you and your dog will love it too!

Why Owner chose Paw Paw
We fell in love with the view of the lake--within five minutes of arriving we decided to buy it. We live in Chicago and can leave the City after work on Friday and still arrive in time to open a bottle of wine and fire up the grill--it's a great antidote to city life.
What makes this Cabin unique
We love to relax at Maple Leaf Cabin, whether reading on the screened porch, drinking coffee overlooking the lake or cocktails on the pontoon boat, Miss Maple, it's always a great getaway. The cabin is fully outfitted and Paw Paw has everything we need so it's not necessary to bring alot of stuff--just hop in the car and go. We love visiting the farmstands and farmers' markets for local produce but if we don't feel like cooking there are many good restaurants, from casual to fine dining, where we can grab a great country breakfast or enjoy a relaxing dinner right on the water. And there are always new wines to taste at the wineries--just a few short blocks away!

Loved our weekend at the Maple Leaf Cabin!
The Maple Leaf Cabin was everything we hoped for and more! The Cabin is so charming and the view from the screened in porch cannot be beat. We enjoyed hiking in the parks nearby with our dog even though we had a rainy fall weekend. Coming back to this cozy cabin and enjoying the fire pit overlooking the lake was just the escape we needed. Thank you for hosting us!!
Maple Leaf Cabin
This was our second time staying at Maple Leaf Cabin. The view from the screened in porch is the best on the lake and the cabin has everything you need for your stay. Fishing off the dock or Miss Maple was great! Our little dog loved cruising the lake on Miss Maple. Thank you, Shawn, for another relaxing and enjoyable trip!
Glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to your visit again next year!
Great thought to decor and decorating.
Very cozy, quaint, relaxing. Beautiful view, lots of amenities available. We cook meals there. Renting the pontoon was good, was fun riding around the lake. Hope to return!
Charming cottage on Maple Lake
Shawn's cottage is just darling, carrying a maple leaf theme through out the home. All amenities, kitchen needs, fire pit w available wood, enjoyable screened in porch,Weber grill, and of course the lake, are there for your use. It is a pet friendly space for you dog lovers too! We enjoyed our stay so much, we are going back in August, and will rent the pontoon boat right at the dock for our lake excursions. Owner very nice and answers requests quickly.
Beautiful and many great amenities, but not great fishing
The cabin was small, but plenty of space for my dad, our dog Halo and I. The bed was comfortable, but the only other place to sleep indoors was an extremely uncomfortable sofa-bed. We weren't really expecting it to be super comfortable, but all you could feel were the springs. The area around the cabin was also super cute, and everyone was very friendly, including the very helpful neighbors. We loved the outdoor screened-in patio, it was very nice to sit out there and enjoy a meal while looking out at the lake. There were a ton of amenities - everything we could have needed was provided for us tenfold. Unfortunately, we went on this trip mainly as a getaway, with a huge priority being fishing - which wasn't good. We were out there constantly, early in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening - after about 3 days we had only caught 1 fish. We caught a couple more the next morning luckily, but I would not go here again with my objective being fishing. I don't recommend it to anyone who wants to go fishing and catch a decent amount of fish. However, I would recommend it as a small, relaxing getaway.
In short, positives: adorable cabin and surrounding area, beautiful view of the lake, tons of amenities
negatives: sofa-bed terribly uncomfortable, fishing was pretty bad
I'd like to thank Shawn for letting us stay here, we did have a nice time despite our fishing not going so well!
Over the years many guests have commented in the guest book--both on line and in the cabin--that they have enjoyed the fishing and caught a lot of fish. Most throw them back but some guests have even eaten them for supper. All the locals consider Maple Lake a good fishing lake so maybe the fish just weren't biting for Jaynee...
This was an extremely relaxing, private vacation. The cottage is immaculate and tastefully maintained and decorated. You have a piece of heaven, thank you for sharing this with us. We are planning a return in the fall, the color change should be spectacular.
Visit u-pick farms for strawberries, blueberries and apples, visit local wineries and taste the recent vintages, check out local farmer's markets and farmstands to get produce for your home cooked feasts! Winter sport enthusiasts can ride or ski the Kal-Haven snow mobile/cross country trail or many other trails throughout Van Buren county.
