Great for a blustery winter weekend

The house was great! Spacious yet cozy with a well stocked kitchen. The byo linens (which included dish towels, bed sheets, and bathroom towels) struck me as somewhat odd given the high price of the home (even in the off season). Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed strolling down the dock and exploring the island.

Great house for a group

Our group of 6 had a great time meeting up at the house to celebrate. It was the perfect space with good areas to come together for chatting and board games, cooking and eating together, and plenty of space for comfortable sleeping arrangements. We started and ended each day enjoying the view and the pier. Getting into town was easy, making exploring the area very accessible. Overall, a wonderful stay at the house! Thank you!

Great for bird watchers

This lovely home located in a quiet, private section of Chincoteague, has an amazing bay view and even a “private backyard pond” where ducks, herons, and ibis like to congregate which is great for birders and photographers. The trees and myrtle bushes are filled with songbirds including tons of myrtle warblers. The house was clean when we arrived, and the kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans. The dishes are lighthouse themed which is quite appropriate for Chincoteague. In February, many of the restaurants are closed in town but due to Covid, we cooked meals in the house. We did pick up take out a couple of nights for oysters from Don’s Restaurant and The Village (both are only open certain nights so make sure to call them first). Bills Restaurant has good oyster stew too. There is a grocery store in Chincoteague and a Food Lion about a 10-mile drive. The bed was comfortable but the pillows could have been better so you might want to bring your own. Linens and towels are not included but you can rent them from the rental company, we chose to bring our own. The laundry and dryer are handy for washing clothes. This was a working vacation for me, and the wifi was fast (the password is on the check in information that you pick up from the rental company). The large flat screen TV was in a smaller room off the living room/kitchen. There are 4 flights of stairs into the house so carrying luggage and groceries may be an issue for some people but on a positive note our legs were definitely stronger after the week. The rental company was very good about answering questions before we arrived. We would definitely rent this house again.

Beautiful house, location, sunsets. A few issues

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Hidden Treasure sits in a lovely area along the Chesapeake Bay. The house is very nice in an area of very nice houses. Sunsets are beautiful and the dock was a favorite with all. Both for lounging and launching kayaks. Kitchen is well equipped with dishes, glasses, cookware and such. The large porches have a wonderful view and the screened in porch is nice to sit in and eat at. Loved the Whirlpool bath in the Master Bedroom. But there were a few issues with our stay and with the house. It's listed as four bedrooms but one of the bedrooms with twin beds has no closet or even a wardrobe. The House has four bedrooms, probably over 2400 sq ft and can accommodate up to ten people. Yet the washer/dryer combo is an apartment size stacking unit?? Worse still, the dryer is near death and takes hours to dry a (small - because it is a stacking unit) load of clothes. That well equipped kitchen leaves almost no space to store food. The screened in porch would benefit greatly from a bug zapper - as a few bugs (that is to say mosquitoes- the only insect on the island lol) do find their way in and now can't leave. Cleaning/housekeeping could have been better. The downstairs bathroom smelled of urine and the refrigerator of fish. We cleaned both. And the pricey linen package did not have the right sheets for the master bedroom. We got two queen sets rather than one king. We have vacationed in Chincoteague maybe six times. We enjoyed our stay and the house. A solid four stars overall, but needs a few improvements to reach five stars.

Hidden Treasure July 2022 Stay

We have vacationed many times on Chincoteague Island. Hidden Treasure and location are lovely. Beautiful sunsets. Lots of time spent by family members out on the private dock on the water. Dock was convenient to launch kayaks we rented. Kitchen well stocked with dishes, cookware and silverware. Decent high speed internet, two big screen TV's, a variety of board games. Now for negatives. Downstairs bathroom smelled strongly of urine and refrigerator of fish. We cleaned both. The overpriced linen package had wrong size sheets for Master Bedroom. It's one KING size bed, not two Queens. Towels scratchy. King Size bed is not very comfortable That well stocked kitchen has almost no space for food. The house is large and accommodates up to 10 guests, but has an apartment size stacked washer/dryer. Worse the dryer is incredibly slow. Hours to dry a load. One of bedrooms with twin beds has no closet - not even a wardrobe. The screened in porch could use a bug zapper as bugs do get in. We left behind

Reviewer Comments: We had a great vacation and the view from the back deck was awesome. The problem being the house needs updating and a good cleaning. Ant traps in the living room kitchen etc needs to be addressed. The deck out back has never been swept and thousands of ants there. The only improvements were duct tape. Duct tape on the screen door going out to hold the door together, the door going out barely opens, screen room with so much mold on the screens blowing in the breeze u couldn’t sit in there, duct tape there too. A real safety issue is the railing out there. I can see a law suit forming when some kid decides to lean or climb it. It is ready to fall off or the boards it is attached to will. Also green mold all over that. House was not ready for quests. Very disappointed for the 3400 dollars I had to pay. Wouldn’t stay there again. Sorry

Unfortunately, on the island, this is the time of year that ants are AWFUL. We would have gladly had someone by to take a look at that screen door and the railing. We have someone going there today to fix those things. We could have moved you to another home. We can't fix things unless we know- so please next time if something is not up to our and your standards- reach out to us! :)

Every sunset was gorgeous and enjoyed seeing them right from our deck! The screened in eating area was also perfect for family meals without any pesky bugs. Hooks in the queen bedroom would have been helpful. We also feel the refrigerator probably needs replaced but we were overall very satisfied with this vacation rental.

Good enough, but not great!

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house is in a lovely location and the porch and porch rockers made up for the things that were lacking. However, the clearning amenities were lacking. We had to buy the following: dust pan, washing detergent, sponges, etc. The kitchen equipment was inadequate compared to other places we have stayed. No bath mats in some bathrooms. I would recommend with reservations and a list of what the persons needed to bring -- especially for cooking as we do all of our own cooking. Refrigerator did not stay cold enough.

Reviewer Comments: Great vacation, house was great, although probably needs a little attention outside such as loose railing and popped decking boards on main deck, and large screen ripped on screened in porch (maintenance did do a quick fix on day one). Only other issue was ants in the kitchen and two bedrooms (should be an easy fix, there were a lot on anthills around the property). Overall great place!

Lovely getaway

Reviewer Comments: The home is in a beautiful, quiet area. there are lots of windows/sliding glass doors on both levels to enjoy the view and make the home bright. Furnishings/beds all comfortable and kitchen well stocked with dinnerware, glassware, cookware, etc. The setting suns was not visible from the home during our stay in March as the sun sets further south/blocked by the home next door. We would have need to go out to the end of the dock - but too cold/windy while we were there. In summer when the sun is further north the full sunset should be visible from inside the house.
