About Susan Nogues
I love Bastrop and the Colorado River! Everyday, I am blessed that I get to look out at it and see it change, more frequently than you'd think. It is always moving and ever in transition. Being out on it is the only thing better! I am a wine snob, I think. LOL I like a lot of wines and am easily amused by them. I will generally trend towards dry, earthy, non-fruit forward reds. You'll be able to tell that I like wine, staying as a guest at River Bungalow. I'm a Real Estate Broker, so my world is very much about dirt. I love it and helping my people accomplish their current realty goals. I'm mostly an action/adventure movie kind of girl, but I do like a good story and a romance :-). Schulman 8 Lost Pines is a great theatre to see a picture show. There are lots of music venue opportunities in the Bastrop area. I tend to like some blues and guitar pickin'. Food! I love most food types. If you have a hankering, let me know, as I have probably eaten everywhere in Bastrop. Yes, Domino's Pizza delivers to River Bungalow!
Susan Nogues purchased this House in 2015
Why Susan Nogues chose Bastrop
The hope is that this is a River Bungalow of rest, fun, adventure, rejuvenation, and/or romance for you! It was over a year for my contractor to remodel with a lot of passion and talent in the details. We are river people! Rather eclectic neighborhood, but we share the love of the river. Back towards town, enjoy the houses and streets of old Bastrop. The holidays are exceptionally festive times to visit. Be sure to go to the Museum and Fine Arts Guild on Chestnut Street (Loop 150). Bastrop has a wonderful choice of restaurants downtown. Enjoy the nightlife, live music on the weekends. Get breakfast at Texas' Monthly's highlighted Maxine's on Main Street. Great for breakfast and homestyle cooking! Shop until your heart's content! Forgot the wine? Oh no! Cripple Creek and Company can fix you up with a great bottle, or so! They are at 928 Main Street. Colorado Winery has their own to offer on Chestnut St. Downtown. HEB grocery store is very close if you want (of course you will) the refrigerator and pantry space. If you need ANYTHING in grocery on the go - go to Tracey's on the corner of Main and Cedar Street. You probably took Cedar St to get to the River Bungalow.River Bungalow is so very close to downtown. At 2 miles to town, you can walk, drive, bike, or roller skate! Fisherman's Park is right down river and worth the visit when you first get here. It is possible to tube from River Bungalow (let's talk about that). Enjoy the riverwalk. There are several exit points back up the hill to the heart of Historic Downtown Bastrop from the riverwalk. Bring a bicycle or rent one from town. Or, bring a SUP, canoe or kayak, or rent one from my buddies at Bastrop River Co. They also do a tubing trip for real relaxation!
What makes this House unique
I salvaged old 1800's farm houses and mixed it with modern design. There is big style in the small footprint! It is super comfy with spray foam insulation everywhere you cant see, and central heat/air. After the gutters went up, it was 'time to put it up for a short term rental', so everyone could enjoy it. So, 'ENJOY'! The river is not officially accessible for safety reasons, but it does have an incredible view from 3 tier decks (steep stairways) with some chairs, so you can watch the colors change on the water as the sun sets. Watch the huge soft shell turtles that have made the boulders in the river at the hill bottom. Lots of nature and fun things to see.

Absolutely no smoking on the property. Sorry.
New Remodel. House is Ready but landscaping and privacy fencing is in progress. This property is close to town, but is in the country. No access to the river, currently, but you can hang out and watch it from the bank top.

Super Cute and Cozy!
This property is even cuter in person. It's very cozy and everything was super easy to find. There was a note with instructions/rules/suggestions that was really helpful, the screened-in patio was a delight to relax on, and the decks were really cool. I'd be happy to stay here again. :)
Cozy place with great river views!
House was clean. Everything we could have needed was provided. Susan is definitely a gracious host and willing to go above and beyond to make your stay as great as possible. Definitely will be back!
Cute, cozy and clean. The huge 3 tiered deck over looking the river was absolutely awesome to find and the screened in porches are awesome for anyone who wants to stay away from mosquitos too. My wife loved the big bathtub and bed is very comfortable as well. Will definitely be telling people about this place and making it a usual stay of ours.
The perfect getaway!
This cabin is a gem! Susan has provided everything you could need for a relaxing stay. The house is adorable, well appointed, clean and comfortable. The two large screened in porches offer seating and fans to enjoy a cocktail or play board games (there are plenty to choose from). We will definitely plan to stay here again!
Nice place on the river
We really enjoyed our stay. Once the multi-level deck down to the river is completed, it will be an even better place to stay. The house was clean, recently updated with a great kitchen, nice bedrooms. The screened in porches are really a great addition, especially during the spring when the weather is cooler and you can spend the evenings out on the porches playing games or just relaxing.
Perfect Little Getaway
The most charming little cottage on the Colorado river. Susan provides all the conveniences of home and then some. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Bastrop.
Bastrop is a charming place rich with ammenities for a fun stay. Foodies, music lovers, history buffs, brew/wine experts, hikers, bikers, tubers, yakers, kayak/paddle boarders, F1 track.... Austin is 40 minutes away... Play options are endless! Adjacent Small towns of Elgin, Smithville, and even La Grange are all within 35 minutes to play in some Czech/German/Wendish culture or antiques !
My favorite thing to do is to get a fishing license and go float the calm Colorado River. Catch dinner or release, it is all so relaxing! The River Bungalow is a bit challenging to put in a kayak for the steap hill, but a tube float to Fishermans Park is perfect!
