very problematic home- a LOT of issues
Where to begin? We did not receive instructions on checking in, we had to message the host the day of to ask for this. The home was extremely dirty, from the kitchen to the bathrooms & bedrooms. Bedroom furniture covered in dust. Dirt/dust on floors. One bathroom had a shower curtain that had the bottom stained yellow and smelling of urine. Toilets, sinks, showers and stove were full of grime. The kitchen sink even had dead insects. The kitchen faucet was loose/not screwed on properly. The kitchen sponge was used and worn, completely torn from the use, and filthy. There were many ants all over the kitchen as well. My family & I planned to eat in to avoid public restaurants due to COVID. However, there were only 2-3 pans with missing/mismatched lids , one knife and a couple of silverware, making our groceries useless since we had no appropriate dishes to cook with. The stove and toaster did not work properly. This alone defeated the purpose of booking this house since we wanted the convenience of a kitchen to avoid restaurants. One bathroom does not have a door, only a curtain so please be aware since this is not said in the listing ad. The couch pillows all had tears in the back and the stuffing was coming out. There was also a water leak outside, and worse of all, a wasp hive right outside by house entrance. We were unaware of this because it's hidden behind a wall plaque, and unfortunately a small child was stung because we were not advised of this hive. We tried to book something else immediately but of course everything in the area was full. We also contacted the manager on site and he arrived and we showed him all the concerns, he apologized and offered to send a cleaner. Unsure if cleaner showed up or not, since we left to try to find another place to stay in. When we came back the place did not look any different, and we had no choice but to stay since we could not find anything else. This is unacceptable given the amount we are charged as a cleaning fee. I am filing a formal complaint with the pictures we took.
