About thomas k sweeney

My wife and i have owned our property for eleven years. We built the studio/guest house in 2008. I am an oil painter and needed a large studio to do my work and the large guest suite seemed like a natural fit for visiting relatives. For several years we have used home away for our own vacations and so it dawned on us that other people might enjoy our place as much as our relatives have.

thomas k sweeney purchased this studio in 2004

With the coffee grinder we include dark french roast beans from Trader Joes. Our main home pool is available for use on a seasonal basis and is fenced off separately and actually is closer to guest home than the main house. We have no kitchen facility, however a table and chairs for having a meal are provided with many take out restaurants nearby. We clean upon request and provide garbage pick up and clean towels every third day. We will consider one small dog but it must remain with you at all times-there is no safe outdoor space to leave it because of possibility of encounters with coyotes or bobcats. We also stock 4 bottled waters and a complimentary bottle of cabernet or merlot, and a bottle of chardonnet. Check in time is 4pm check out is 11am but is flexible if there is no reservation coming in or leaving on the same day. There is no smoking allowed on site. We prefer to rent to a maximum of two adults but will consider pets upon request.

Owner's Response: The detractions Paul mentions are barking dogs, doing dishes in the bathroom, poor internet. The dogs are hundreds of feet from ou suite and across the road and no other guest we have had have has ever mentioned this. We take pride in the peace and quiet we have provided with double pane windows and foam insulation throughout the suite. They were neat and tidy guests but they must have missed in our property description that most of the dishes and cutlery were disposable. The internet which we detail in our website and the guest binder material has been good for some depending on their devices and our Netgear AC1900 Router and DST. We know that some visitors need good internet and we have been upgrading as soon as viable products come on line. Sincerely, Tom and Bonnie Sweeney

Wonderful views, lovely accommodations, peaceful

  • 5 of 5

We appreciated the comfortable and spacious room, the well-supplied kitchen and bath areas, the outdoor setting, privacy and quiet. It was worth the extra drive from the main part of the city. We highly recommend this property and hope we have a chance to return in the future.

Relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

The guest house was just as it was described. The location was perfect for us. The property is in the country with great views of the mountains and desert landscape, however; it is close enough to easily get into town and on the highway! The one pleasant surprise were the paintings in the guest house! Thomas is a talented artist and his works adorn the home.

If you are seeking a private, quiet retreat to decompress, write, or go adventuring look no further.

  • 5 of 5

Available and welcoming, Thomas & Bonnie have set up a lovely studio with views to the Sky Islands, the stars, and the desert garden. After a day of hiking, play lizard by the pool, or enjoy the sights and sounds of downtown Tucson. Kitt Peak Observatory is within reach for those who want to go deep into space. The hiking through the Saguaro forest is unmatched and proves again how full of life the desert is. Don't miss the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum if you love natural history or botany. If you want to go to sleep listening to great horned owls and awake to desert birdsong, this is the place.

The spacious studio is furnished with charming antiques, and offers a gracious bath and walk in closet with skylights, a cozy kitchenette and a gas grill on the covered patio. Studio is warmly decorated with desert tones and Thomas' juicy oil paintings of nearby surroundings. Two bottles of wine anticipate your arrival, along with serene desert quietude.

Enjoyed the natural setting.

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our two days. Self contained suite was tastefully decorated and comfortable. Outdoor patio and pool areas were wonderful, particularly with the hot temperatures. Lots of shade. Setting was quiet and natural with great views. Lots of varied hiking trails close by.

Wonderful property

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent 3 nights in this comfortable, spacious suite. The rooms are very clean and include all the little things you need and can't bring with you. We would stay here again, and recommend it to other vacationers.
