FISHING, BOATING, HIKING, 4-WHEELING, SNOWMOBILING, BIKING, CROSS COUNTRY SKIING, HUNTING & RETREATS

The Grand Mesa is a large mesa in western Colorado in the United States. It is the largest flat-topped mountain in the world (with over two hundred lakes)! Vega lake is the largest lake in the area.

The cabin sits at 8200’ elevation and features incredible craftsmanship throughout, from the custom cabinetry to wrought iron railings. The expansive kitchen features a breakfast bar with seating for 10 that opens to a stunning living room with 35'cathedral ceilings. Exposed beams provide a warm feeling. The dinning room seats another 7. The lower level includes a 500 SF family/theater room, with handcrafted pine paneled walls and ceilings including two large couches, an 80” smart TV, 500 DVD’s, foosball table, TV for gaming systems (BRING YOUR OWN GAMING SYSTEMS), two other TVs, Satellite and WIFI. For small children there are plenty of toys and for infants we have a high chair and crib.

You can walk out onto the spacious 500 sq ft covered deck (with gas barbecue) that is the perfect place to kick back and enjoy the serenity of the views. Or build a fire in the fire pit out front and roast marshmallow. You also have access to unlimited recreation in the immediate area with fishing, hiking, biking, 4 wheeling, cross country skiing, birding watching, boating, snowmobiling depending on the season. Wildlife abounds around the home: deer, elk, moose, eagles, chipmunks, fox, marmots, wild turkeys and numerous species of birds can be seen depending on the season.

Sip hot chocolate by the crackling fireplace, gaze at the amazing views of Vega lake & mountains down below or unwind and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Aspens and Pines that surrounds the cabin on all four sides.

FOR RETREATS:

The cabin is the perfect place for corporate or other type of retreats.

FOR SNOWMOBILING TO THE TOP OF THE MESA:

Start right at the cabin. The Vega Snowmobile Trail #545 begins at the Vega State Park Trailhead just after crossing the dam and ends at an intersection with the Sunlight to Powderhorn Trail (SP). On the Sunlight to Powderhorn Trail Map the Vega Trail is #37 (66 6/10 Road). There is a large parking lot at this Trailhead for trailers and you can drive snowmobiles to and from the cabin from there.

The Trailhead #37-A is just down from the cabin at the cross roads of Parkview Road and 64 6/10 Road. This trail 37-A intersects #37. While our guest you can park trailers on Parkview road tight to the right so that the plow can drive by. Then drive the snowmobile or your car/truck to and from the cabin.

The trail #37 continues on Forest Service Road 262 in the Park Creek drainage through aspen into open meadows in Big Park. About half way through the meadow, the trail will intersect the SP Trail near Monument Creek. NOTE: The large heated garage is the perfect place to park and work on your snowmobiles.

Super time

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful mountain home to spend time relaxing with family - reading, enjoying the fireplace, enjoying the view and being able to bike from the house, doing puzzles, making food in the well supplied kitchen, eating at the dinning area, watching movies, sleeping in such comfortable beds. Love the way you have furnished the place - beautiful but very comfortable. Everything you need is there. Felt like home! Thanks so much for our stay there.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your 5 star review. It took us almost two years to find/get almost every kind of kitchen appliance imaginable to help make cooking at the cabin a supper fun experience. The same thing with all the board games, puzzles and DVD's. We appreciate how clean you and your group left the cabin. We would love you back again and again! Best, Todd and Rhonda

Very nice place

  • 4 of 5

It was a lovely place and we enjoyed our stay. The only issues we had was the water had a sulfur odor to it and the care taker harassing our guests about parking even when we followed his instructions. He was not very pleasant to deal with at all. It also would have been nice to have known we had to carry out all of our trashed or we would be charged in addition to the cleaning fee. All in all we dealt with the downfalls and enjoyed the cabin and the scenery.

Owner's Response: Hi Hillary, Thank you for the feedback following your Wedding at our cabin. We are still in a learning curve for Weddings/Receptions like yours with the need for additional parking and trash. We have discussed your complaint with the couple that 'care take' the cabin and live next door. Best, Todd

Our entire stay was just wonderful. The cabin did not lack anything. All we needed to bring was food. Carl and Beth were most helpful. They did not hesitate to respond to any needs we had.
