Beautifully renovated and superbly decorated, this home balances tasteful elegance and modern comfort. Exquisite stone patio opens to terraced steps leading to 130 feet of private, sandy beach on the Lagoon.

Beach Access! Extraordinary 137 feet of private, sandy beach on the Lagoon Pond just steps (48 steps to be precise) from your door. The Lagoon is warmer and calmer than the ocean, making it perfect for swimming (especially for little ones). Spending a day at South Beach, the Inkwell or Jaws Bridge is certainly not to be missed or minimized. But with a sandy beach and beautiful water just steps away, you can add in a morning dip or an afternoon paddle to your everyday routine. House includes two stand-up paddle boards, two single and one double kayak, boogie board, towable tube, clamming rake, beach chairs, umbrella and beach toys. Additional kayaks, paddle boards, small sailboats, windsurfing are rentable—delivered to the house or across the Lagoon.

Peaceful Lagoon View! Relax on the patio with a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine. Enjoy glorious sunsets on the Lagoon with the Vineyard Sound in the distance while you listen to the sounds of the beach (seagulls and ferries) and breathe fresh sea air. Watch the local osprey and cormorants dive for meals or read a novel in the sun-filled living room or on the second story deck. The Master Bedroom faces the Lagoon, allowing you to relax in bed as you watch the morning ferry sail out of Vineyard Haven.

Main House. The main house hosts a second-story master bedroom (King) with master bath and second floor deck with spectacular views. There is a small room off the master bedroom with a daybed and armoire—perfect for a Pack-n-Play or just to spread out.

The main floor offers two additional Queen bedrooms; a second full bathroom; a chef’s kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances and gorgeous island that opens to the chic, yet comfortable great room; and a dining room with wine fridge. The main floor opens to a beautiful blue-stone patio for outdoor relaxing, grilling and dining. An outdoor shower (unenclosed) is tucked around the corner.

Guest House. A separate guest house hosts one bedroom (two twins), full bath, kitchenette and living room (with pull out sleeper-sofa), plus an enclosed, light-drenched porch.

Great set-up for extended family or two-family vacation. The home has A/C, parking for 4 cars, washer and dryer, gas grills, cable TV (with flat screens in the living room, master bedroom and Guest House), beach toys and high speed WiFi. Linens (sheets and towels) are included.

I've been coming to the Vineyard since college (30 years!), and this has been my favorite place to stay! The location is ideal, the house is gorgeous, and the owners were responsive, kind, and attentive. The water in the lagoon was warm, which made swimming a delight! We will definitely be back!

Barbbra and Wayne have a gem of a place to stay. It has Everything imaginable that you might like for your trip and they are super nice people. Highly recommend!

Paradise

My family really enjoyed our stay. The house is gorgeous and has everything you could need and more. We spent the majority of our time on the back patio sipping coffee/wine, eating meals, reading a book and enjoying the view and each others company. Wayne was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. We were all so sad to leave and ranked it in our top 5 vacations. We hope to come back again soon!

Has everything - including amazing views!

Just returned from a wonderful stay at Wayne and Barbs. The house was lovely and had everything we could need for a good time - basic spices and condiments, equipment for watersports…Truly a great find in MV! Stunning views from the first floor and 2nd floor master. Homeowners were super responsive. Would definitely return.

The Perfect Stay in Martha's Vinyard

Amazing stay on Martha's vineyard!

We stayed here for our wedding weekend with the family and couldn't be happier. Wayne and Barbara worked with us on booking accomodations and kept in contact up until before our time there. The property truly is as gorgeous as the listing! Our family couldn't stop raving about the house, amenities, and views. It's close to everything in Oaks Bluff and still super private. I would stay here again every time and recommend to all!

Idyllic

Absolutely stunning property!! On the hillside over looking the lagoon. We had the most lovely time hanging on the deck overlooking the water, chilling by the outdoor gas fireplace, and relaxing inside the beautiful house. Highly recommend!! Thanks wayne and barb!

5 Star Accommodations for Family Vacation on MV

The property is lovely & the outdoor patio overlooking the beautiful, peaceful lagoon is fabulous. The house is very well equipped with kitchen supplies, tools, as well as household products. The linens/towels are top notch. It really has everything you’d want or need. Perfectly located near Oak Bluffs, State Beach & Vineyard Haven. Just a short ride into Edgartown. The host is an absolute pleasure to work with. Always in touch & helpful. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Helped us reconnect!

We had a wonderful stay here and everyone in our family kept saying it was “magical.” Even with less than stellar weather during the week, we enjoyed the location and the setup of the house that allowed us to gather and reconnect as a family. Lots of attention to detail at the home including the water sport toys, grill, fire table (s’mores every night!) and more. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful home in an ideal location

We came as a party of 10 with 4 kids under 4 and this home was amazing for our group. The kids loved the easy access to the water as well as all the beach supplies provided (made packing much easier!) and the views of the water made me feel like I was on vacation every minute I was there. It’s easily accessible to oak bluffs Centre by car (or maybe bike if we weren’t so kid laden!) but feels very tucked away and private. Wayne and Barbara are incredibly communicative and helpful and check in was very easy. My husband and I have been coming to MV for years and it’s our favorite place we have stayed and it was a wonderful introduction to the island for our friends who were first timers. Thank you again for a lovely vacation!

Exceeds Expectations

We just returned from one of the best vacations ever. Wayne’s house on the lagoon has it all, and the location can’t be beat. We enjoyed jaw-dropping sunrises and sunsets from the beautiful patio, abd spent many hours on the water with the many water toys. Have you ever wished you had a friend with a beautiful beach house? Now you do. Inside and out, this house is decorated and appointed with everything you will need, and in a style you rarely find in a rental house. The gardens are lovely, the furniture unique. And Wayne, your host, really cares to know that you’re enjoying your vacation to the fullest. I cannot wait to come back!!

Just as we hoped it would be!

We had a lovely week at this property. The master bed was really comfy. The outdoor dining table was used extensively for meals. We were there just the perfect time of year so the temps were very welcoming to spend a lot of time on the back patio. We purchased a shellfish license and diving for clams at about 6’ of water right behind the house produced more clams than we could harvest (threw remaining back). The view of Lagoon Pond is just as amazing as in the photos shown. We also loved how central the location of the home is to all the towns. You can get to the 4 major towns within a 5-10 minute drive of the home. This was by far the most we have ever spent (splurged) on a rental home and we were not disappointed. We look forward to coming back in the future.

Absolute Heaven

What an amazing experience from start to finish. Wayne and Barb have such a beautiful location with a fun lagoon beach steps from the house. The view when you enter the house is gorgeous. After a long trek from Colorado they had a bottle of wine and some bourbon we happily helped ourselves to. We settled in and stared at the view. We must have made hundreds of comments about the view over the course of the two weeks that we stayed here. The house was perfect and had everything you needed to cook and we all love to cook so it was wonderful. We loved all the glassware and serve ware that they provided. The outdoor dishes were especially cute. All the spices and olive oil, garbage bags, TP and paper towels etc. were provided. The fridge had an ice maker and filtered water that was great to have. The lagoon was so fun, perfect for all the fun water gear they provide. My kids loved kayaking and SUPing around the Lagoon. One day we all tied up with the SUP’s to the mooring and sat out on them enjoying the gentle rolling waves. My youngest son caught 17 clams and we made clam chowder one afternoon. So fun! There are too many wonderful memories from the house and our vacation to MV. Sitting on the porch or in the dining room overlooking the water was definitely my favorite. Sleeping in the comfy bed with the sound of water was my husband’s. The house was spotless and it is such a nice house, the guest cottage was perfect for my teenage sons. If that is not enough Wayne and Barb are the most gracious hosts you will ever have. Communication was so great we felt like we were staying at a friend’s house. If you have any issues they take care of them immediately. Such a pleasure staying here, I am jealous of anyone booking this reservation now. Definitely more than five stars!

We have been visiting Martha’s Vineyard every summer since our son was a toddler (he’s now a freshman in college; well, he’s home distance learning now due to the pandemic, but this too will pass). We have stayed in every town down island, each year or two finding a home that is a little bit more perfect than the last. Eventually we landed at a rental on Lagoon Pond, nestled between Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven. Once we experienced the glory of mornings and sunsets on the Lagoon, we knew we had found our perfect spot.

As we toyed with the idea of purchasing a home on the Vineyard, we knew we had to be on the Oak Bluffs side of the Lagoon, but there are only so many homes on the stretch of Lagoon that we preferred. Truthfully, the idea of owning a home on the Lagoon felt like a dream a little too good to ever become true. When we learned that the home at 82 Springfield Avenue might be for sale, we knew: THIS is what we have been waiting for.

We feel lucky and honored to have been fortunate to purchase 82 Springfield from its prior owners. The prior owners renovated the home, which is 100 years old, with an unbelievable eye to detail, to elegance balanced by comfort, to an amazing fit with its unique location on the Lagoon. Sometimes you just know when something feels right – and to us, we knew from the first minute that 82 Springfield felt like home.
