A Four Wheel Drive Vehicle is Required- Delight in the experience of driving where there are no hard roads! Three night stays are available in spring and fall.
This stunning semi oceanfront home will knock your flip flops off!! Amenities include, private pool, baby pool, hot tub, sauna, media room, cabana, game room, volleyball, horseshoes and more. The top of the line kitchen will make meal prep a joy. Designed with entertaining in mind, the well outfitted living areas provide many options for gathering or solitude. The views from both upper levels of this home are the icing on the cake. Solstice by the Sea will make your memories of the long days of summer last through to the winter solstice when you will begin to plan your next visit to Solstice by the Sea.

Come enjoy fresh clean spaces and all of these updates:
New furniture including dining room chairs, patio and pool furniture, coffee/tea bar with an espresso maker, new theater room furniture and remodel and new pool table. The kitchen is getting an overhaul with a boatload of appliances, cookware, bakeware, and gadgets. Outside the horseshoe pits and the volleyball court have been remodeled!

Sunday Check In - 4 wheel drive Required - Linens and Towels provided. - Approximately 9 miles up the 4x4 beach Parking passes for parking two cars on the beach are included with this home. Parking at the house is free and unlimited. Two dogs considered depending on age, weight and breed. There is a per pet fee and a refundable security deposit. No cats. Private pool which is heatable (for a fee) No graduation groups or events are allowed in any of the houses offered by Carova Cottages.

Perfect for a large family vacation!

First off the property management is awesome! The house had everything we needed for a big group & room to spread out. We really enjoyed our week and the horses in the back yard!!

Fully stocked, lovely home

This house was amazing and full of amenities! Very comfortable and lots of seating. Loved how stocked the kitchen was but it does need new, large skillets. Would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic Week!

We had a fantastic week at this lovely house. The location and house were perfect. The house was very clean and the kitchen was so well stocked. We enjoyed the pool, hot tub, game room, and crow’s nest! The horses visited in the backyard most days, and it was a short walk or drive to the beach. Highly recommended!

There was a brief issue where they forgot to include towels upon check-in, but Laura hand delivered them to us within the hour. Exceptional service! The only real complaint I had was that the volleyball court needed some tlc. It was a bit overgrown. But that is just nitpicking. Will absolutely stay here again and I recommend it to anyone who wants to just get away!

Only problem is we couldn’t use horseshoes or volleyball because of so many sticky weeds. My Grandaughter ran out there with no shoes and had a ton of thorns in her feet. It needs attention.

Thanks for your review. We're so sorry your granddaughter got sand burrs in her feet. They are hard to get out. That yard is mowed pretty regularly, but there isn't much to be done about the sand burrs, they thrive on the conditions found here. Too late for your granddaughter, but the sand yards here are not for bare feet. Just the beach and the roads are safe. Thanks for your review. I hope you will come again!

Great stay!

Such a great house! We especially loved the size of the home (great for large groups) and remote location. The owner/manager provided clear, concise email communication and a contactless check in/out. We appreciated having 2 dishwashers, 2 washer/dryer units, and used the large water filter daily. The location is remote and we loved seeing the wild horses daily! We agree with other reviews that the property could use some upgrades. For example, the decking shows heavy signs of wear and tear from age and weather. We wanted to use the volleyball court but the weeds/grass were too overgrown. Overall, we had a lovely week and would consider staying here again!

Hi Shane Thanks so much for your nice review. Solstice by the Sea really does have a beautiful layout and is perfect for large family gatherings. The owner has done so much to make your stay comfortable including TREX decking to replace the typical splintery wood decks. The volleyball court has both sand and grass, which we get mowed about once a month. LOL... that is all you need here since the horses typically keep the grass mowed for us!! So glad you would like to come back. I think this owner offers a small repeat guest discount... so make sure to ask!!

A beautiful, clean home that is well stocked and super convenient to the beach, just over the dune. The kitchen is equipped with everything you can think of, along with beach chairs, sand toys, canopies, and games for the rainy days that is also provided. We love sitting on the porches watching the horses in the yard, grilling out around the pool, and late nights playing pool or watching movies in the theatre room. The owner, as always, did an amazing job updating with new furniture, paint, décor and other home improvements. The owner has poured heart and soul into making this a home away from home for everyone to enjoy. There are plenty of places for diversion or just relaxing. Multiple living/playing areas means you can enjoy each other or steal away for a quiet afternoon. There are so many ways to spend your time at Solstice by the Sea!! The kitchen is so well stocked with appliances and dishes - you just need the food! The setup is great and there is plenty of room for everyone to hang out together or spread out to different parts of the house. The bottom floor game room and theater room is awesome and we hung out there a lot! The pool deck is perfect and there is plenty of room outdoors for everyone. The beds are very comfortable and the house was very clean. We are definitely going to return. You can tell how much love was put into making this house a very comfortable rental property! Laura is great to work with, as always... she and David go out of their way to make sure their renters are happy and taken care of!

Games, puzzles, pool table, air hockey etc.. Kitchen was loaded with all kinds off cooking gadgets. 2 refrigerators was really nice. Gas grill was fine but the charcoal grill was in rough shape. Need a new one. The pool was used alot, along with the kiddie pool. Hot tub some. The large dining table was really nice for family suppers. The basement was great for the adults after the kids were in bed. Summary,the best rental I have had since we started going to Carova over 15 years ago. Highly recommended for big families. Now. Carova Cottages & Laura. There is a reason why I always rent with them for the past few stays. Everything was in order, easy booking & always there when you need help. I had a vehicle problem which involved a replacement part by a mechanic at the house. Laura worked with me,calmed me down really,and I was able to get my truck repaired & gone before the next family came in. Laura went above & beyond to work with me through my difficult situation. Carova Cottages & Solstice by the Sea. Great combination!!

A property worth rebooking

This property is on its way to being an amazing family friendly listing. Our vacation taught us a lot about the things that property owners deal with. However without a great management company the renter can be left with a lot of hiccups. Laura and David at Carova Cottages are the most amazing people to have had the luxury to work with. They are literally willing to do whatever they can to help out even if it’s dropping off extra propane at 1030 at night. Their help, ease, and efficiency of getting in touch with made every question easy to ask and quick to be answered. The horses are visible on any deck and sometimes the pool. You’ll have amazing sunrises, sunsets, and rain storms in the crows nest and screen patio. The kiddie pool was prestine and perfect for our 7/8 yo. We even sat in it. Perfect amount of privacy and yard for quiet fun. Make sure you turn all the lights off at night: To see the stars and rid the side of the house of bugs. The bedrooms are great and bathrooms are good. Kitchen had everything we needed and then some. Overall it’s an amazing place to stay. Laura will help you out with anything but you shouldn’t need much! She made our vacation what it was! Already tons of pool stuff, air compressor, and an ice machine that just needs to be hooked up to water. Enjoy everything! It goes by too fast!

THANKS and you are so right, you really shouldn't need much once you arrive to this well outfitted home. The owners have thought of everything!! There are some many diversions! .. Game room with pool table, air hockey, foosball, sauna, ping pong, and theatre room, and just steps outside are the grill, pool, and baby pool. Corn hole boards, board games, puzzles... you name it. We are so glad you came and want to extend a repeat guest discount to you for your next visit. :-) Come back soon.!

Great Location and Nicely Stocked Home

It's not a perfectly crisp new house and there are signs of age if you look closely, but it has charm that allows one to overlook the imperfections. There are great public spaces in this home - plenty of seating around the TV, at the dining table, and the bonus is the cute nook a few steps up off the family room which always seemed to call to people. There are many outdoor spots from which to take in the beautiful views and enjoy the ocean breeze. Beds were comfortable and there is an HVAC zone on each floor. The house really has about everything you can possibly need - kitchen is stocked with appliances and utensils, water purifier, there are labels on all of the cabinets so you know what goes where. The game room downstairs has a pool table, air hockey table, ping pong table, dart board... volleyball and horseshoes outside. Really, if you get bored in this house you have a problem. Issues - the house presentation was a bit of disappointment when we arrived from previous guests smashing bugs on the walls, deflated pool toys in front of the house, dog waste. We called the mgmt company and they were immediately there and took care of everything to our satisfaction. Bathrooms are all pretty small and lack counter space - this was not an issue for our group, but may bother some. Minor item, but fixable - the door on the fridge swings the wrong way for the kitchen so you're blocked off from the food prep area with the door open. They make the swing changeable for this reason. Simple fix that would improve the livability of the kitchen. We very much enjoyed staying in this house and will certainly consider a return in the future.

The kids loved the heated pool. The adults continued on to the hot tub and then the sauna for complete and utter relaxation! Meals were easy in the well-stocked kitchen with room enough for plenty of chefs! The theater room was a big draw for the multiplayer gaming as well as some late-night movies! There were enough spaces for people to disappear if they needed some quiet, but level three is large enough for everyone to gather with ease. We took the two littles to the beach. The 2-year-old had never played in waves or seen sand crabs! The late OCT weather was still warm enough for splashing in the surf and finding treasures on the beach. We all agreed that Solstice by the Sea provided a GREAT vacation. We are already making plans for next year! :-)

A family vacation full of memories! House was awesome and enough room for everyone to spread out. Well stocked kitchen with all the necessities. All the kids really enjoyed the game room and the pool! The wrap around deck was a favorite for everyone to search for the horses. Will definitely be back!!

Perfect

This house was perfect for our stay. It was very clean and the kitchen is stocked with everything you will need for the week including a crock pot and blender. The views from the house were great and we saw horses in the yard all through the week! The beach was very close and it was beautiful! This was our first time in OBX and we are already talking about coming back next year! Hot tub and pool were also nice after a day at the beach. We would definitely recommend this house to others. You will not be disappointed! Laura was great and answered all my questions VERY quickly! Thanks for everything! We had a great time!!!!

Very Disappointed in the Cleanliness

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location and the house was well stocked from the kitchen to activities to do. However this house needs a serious deep cleaning. It's very dirty. I u derstand the bugs stuck to the outside of thr house but cobwebs every where inside is not acceptable. The beds were very dusty as if a rag is never used on them. The sheets were cleaned but thst is all I can say. Outside by the pool the step between the kiddie pool and adult pool needs fixed very badly. The house also has a smell to it of mold as if it has gotten wet and by thr looks of thr walls and woodwork it has been through a storm. We actually left a day early do to the cleanliness. The whole family just wasn't comfortable. It would be very beneficial to really give this house a deep deep cleaning and inbetween guests have either more people to clean or a longer time frame this is a big house. Laura was a very nice person and answered all my questions when I called and discussed the cleanliness however it really does need alot of work. It's hard to relax when your uncomfortable where ever you go within the house.

Wow, So sorry you felt so out of sorts at this home. When I went in after your departure, I found a few cobwebs in the tall entry stairs and there was some fuzz on a light in the bedroom you stayed in. But honestly, the house looked good other then those few things. I know everyone has different levels of acceptable cleanliness, and so sorry your level was reached while on vacation. Might I just add that if cleanliness is a big issue for your family, you may want to plan your vacation for the spring, before 20 weeks of back to back guests. This housekeeping staff is one of the best and they are very conscientious. I am sad you were so disappointed.

Pure Relaxation

We had another great year at Carova! This was our first time staying at this property and it did not disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of “extras” they had for guests! I ended up bringing stuff I didn’t need too (normally it’s stuff properties don’t have). I lug along a big air compressor to blow up pool and beach toys (they had it) I lug along my margarita machine (they had it). Books, games (they had it). Cornhole boards (they had them) A griddle (they had it). That’s on top of the awesome amenities… ping pong, pool, fooseball and air hockey! Our kids had a blast! This was our first time not staying oceanfront and we didn’t mind the change. The crows nest gave you an awesome view for the sunrises (better than being oceanfront) The drive/walk to the beach access was right down the street and very convenient. A few things to keep in mind… the beach chairs could use some TLC or bring your own, the spiders inside the home were kinda a nuisance, we couldn’t get the propane grill to work (but the griddle came through for the win) but the charcoal grill was great. All the bedrooms were amazing but felt the shared bathrooms were small since 3-4 people would share it. Last but not least… this one is for the moms!!! Dual Laundry and 2 dishwashers in the main kitchen were a DREAM! (Plus the basement kitchen had a dishwasher as well) We’d definitely stay here again! Thank you for sharing your property with us!

THANKS so much for your great review! You are right, Solstice by the Sea is full of extras. They all pile up and give you so many options for entertainment!! Sorry you got a buggy week. We had about a month of midges this year.. annoying little bugs but not biters at least. The spiders follow the midges so while not everyone's favorite, at least they work on the midges population!! LOL. I wish you had mentioned the grill being out of order... we would have come with a new propane tank for your stay. But glad the griddle played second fiddle. lol. Charcoal lovers will be happy that this home offers BOTH types of outdoor cooking. I hope you all will come back and stay again. Seems like the kids vote YES!

Best equipped house

….we’ve ever stayed at. Well suited to accommodate a large group of all ages. All enjoyed the wild horses showing up in the front and back yards and on the beach. Must have 4 wheel drive vehicles to access but the ride along the beach is an experience you will not forget. Short walk or ride to the beach. You can park next to your tent or umbrella.
