If you don't care about not being right in the action of Waikiki, then consider this place. It is adjacent to Kapiolani Park, and about a slow 15-minute stroll to the edge of Waikiki. We really loved that it was at the end of the building, so you truly did have awesome views all around, an amazing breeze, and a sense of privacy. David, the on-site manager, is as nice and welcoming as can be, giving my tween girls sun glasses, beach balls, and offering boogie board loaners. There is a nice sand beach that is less than a five-minute walk, but we did most of our swimming off of the sea wall directly behind the hotel. The water was great, not crowded, and there was decent snorkling as well. The room itself is a bit snug for four and perhaps could use a bit of freshening up, but we spent so little time there that we didn't care. I would pay the extra $20/day for parking (a bargain in Honolulu). There is an ice machine and laundry facilities on site too. We would definitely return to this little gem.
