There to be around family members who had a house up on mountain. Needed space for me and dog Jazz who is old and can't do stairs. House was comfortable and convenient. Lots of loud traffic on 194 all hours especially from those coming to school and going to work I guess. House is very close to that hwy.

Lovely, clean and comfortable house that’s convenient for day trips to explore the Boone area and beyond.
We enjoyed our stay- it was away from town but close enough we could find anything we wanted or needed. If you are an App Stste fan, it’s an excellent location!
This was such a beautiful cottage. The quaint atmosphere embraced us as soon as we entered. Our two dogs felt at home. Thank you for being such an amazing host.

The cabin had a funny smell…. The bedroom fan was so loud! The home was so close to a major highway that I could see (the lights) and hear the cars going by 1:00 AM, 2:00 AM , 3 ;00 AM! The kitchen was not clean. The bathroom was super small. A sink you could barely wash your face in.
This property is nice and clean, wish I could have had access to a broom for sweeping as we brought leaves into the house on our shoes. Cold in home upon arrival. No heaters on. Nice area, close to stores.

Better than a hotel
It’s a great place to sleep. Nothing special. The remotes didn’t work and the tub drained slow. Overall, it’s a good place to use as a base if you’re visiting App State.
If u r looking for some space to sleep and cook this will fit those needs. Nothing fancy but clean enough. Had a comfortable stay. Bedroom not great for a light sleeper because of the traffic lights and sounds 30ft outside windows. Not a very busy road so not too disruptive.

Cute cottage but…..
Cigarette ashes on the floor in master bedroom. Couch and chair smelled like old cigarette smoke. No access to cleaning supplies, mouse droppings on pans underneath stove.
Property is 30 ft off the rd with one little heater for the whole place. Don't recommend.

Hi Dennis, thanks for taking the time to review your stay. After reading your feedback, the homeowner wanted to share the following:
We have a mini split heating system in the dining area, which is capable of heating the entire unit. Also, there is a large electric heating fireplace in the living room, another electric heating fireplace in the master bedroom, and a smaller electric heating fireplace in the second bedroom. All heating sources are shown in the listing photos.
Thank you for letting us know about your stay.

Not worth it
I booked this place to do some hiking, and the location was close to Blowing Rock and other good hiking spots. The rate per night, after other fees ended up spending more than double. Property backs up to a main road and traffic is clearly heard day and night. The furniture is uncomfortable including the mattress and couch. Not worth the price, would rather stay at a hotel for the cost.

Hi Kristy, we passed your comments on to the homeowner who would like to share the following: We do our very best to uphold high standards of hospitality for our property and provide all of our guests with an exceptional experience. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the location and glad to hear you were able to do some hiking!
- We strive to be transparent with our guests at every stage of the booking process and do break down all rates and fees before the reservation is confirmed.
- The cottage is furnished with two cozy glider rockers and a plush leather love seat. The rockers provide a firm seating option, while the love seat offers a softer and more luxurious feel, allowing guests to choose their preferred level of comfort. For guest use, there is also the queen bed that ensures a comfortable night's sleep tailored to individual preferences. We're sorry to hear that the mattress did not meet your expectations.
We do all we can to make our home the best possible experience, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.

Close to hiking but little else to recommend
The location is convenient for hiking, but the proximity to a major road means lots of traffic noise day and night. The furniture is uncomfortable- couch is low and worn, kitchen dining high and uncomfortable, and the mattresses are also uncomfortable. If you want to sit outside either on the front porch or “side yard” you are looking at a street. The rate seems inexpensive but after multiple additional fees the cost is double what’s on the site. Would not recommend

Hi Kristy, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
- The love seat is plush leather and quite soft and comfortable. The pub table and stools are high since they're pub-style. However, there are other places to sit and enjoy a meal.
- While we try to accommodate all guests' comfort, mattress taste is subjective. The Queen bed has a pillow-top mattress and we're sorry the mattress didn't meet your preferences.
- The home is located close to hiking and is also just 1.5 miles from restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, and even a large movie theater.
- We do include a map on our listing so that guests can see the approximate location of the home before booking, but we apologize that this caught you off guard.
- The home is also just 400 yards from a convenience store and since the home is close to the road, this allows access to the home year-round, during inclement weather.
We always work with guests when issues arise and wish you had contacted us during your stay. We truly go above and beyond for our guests, and are confident that future guests will have an enjoyable stay!

Dirty and Bug Infested
I would give this 0 stars if I could and attach all the pictures of the bugs (alive and dead) discovered during our short stay here. The bathtub was stained and there were pink stains around the drains and corners of the tub. It’s as if I was vacant for months with no upkeep. I reached out to both the personal contact given and Evolve and received no response! I do not recommend and currently trying to get money back. Hotels are only a couple miles from the house and similar in price so I would highly recommend taking that option instead.

Hi Haley, we want all of our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we're sorry that you experienced some cleanliness concerns. We passed your feedback onto the homeowners, who would like to share the following:
- Guest safety and satisfaction are our top priorities, so we take all feedback seriously and investigate claims right away.
- After seeing your review, we visited the house and did not find any cause for concern.
- We did not find any bugs, and we confirmed that the house was clean and guest-ready.
- We also followed up with our property manager, who did not hear from you during your stay, though they would have been happy to address any concerns.
We work frequently out of town and stay in many rentals. Although the property was conveniently located and would have served our needs it was definitely not rental ready. Firstly, upon arrival the property was very cold (no central heat), and each room was operating on a space heater (fireplace). The primary bedroom's heater kept creating an arc fault in the breaker panel and shutting off a large portion of the home. We were forced to move a small heater from the front room into that room.Secondly, after the first evening, we recognized that the refrigerator wasn't operating. On our first night we had already purchased perishables, this became a large issue for us. Though the manager sent someone to look at the unit, the solution of unplugging and defrosting the fridge didn't solve the issue.Thirdly, the property listed availability for three persons to sleep within the home. There was a primary bed, a secondary bed and a trundle. However, the trundle bed didn't have an actual mattress rather a box spring only. I was forced to purchase an air mattress to sleep at this property.Lastly, one of the living room chairs was broken and when sat in I was flung back and hit my head on the wall behind the chair. Needless to say, not as advertised, not in good serviceable condition, and not a pleasant stay. Though they allowed me to cancel the remainder of the rental, still very displeased they didn't over a refund for the trouble of finding a new rental.

Hi Joe, we appreciate your feedback and want to clarify a few points:- The home has central heat (mini-split) along with space heaters. Upon inspection, all were running.- The refrigerator was tested at 44°F, with ice still frozen in the freezer.- The unit accommodates three guests with a queen and twin bed; the trundle is for an infant if needed.- Water froze due to extreme cold (7°F) and not following rental guidelines to let faucets run. Despite this, we refunded the remainder of your stay.- We were unaware of the chair issue but will address it.We strive to provide a comfortable stay and appreciate your feedback.
We spent 2 nights in this cottage which is at a great location to visit Boone. It was clean and appeared to have been renovated in the past year. The water has a terrible odor, so we bought bottled water for drinking. The temperatures at night dipped into 20s, but each room had a heat source that could be regulated to keep warm. The bathroom is tiny, but we managed. All windows had blinds for opening and closing , but suggest the owner put up curtains over windows at front and back doors to provide a greater sense of privacy and security for those staying there. We thought the daily rental fee was very reasonable, but once cleaning fees, taxes, and VRBO service fees were added, we calculated we could have stayed in a hotel for less money.
My daughter and I wanted a unique experience in Boone the weekend of the App State open house. We enjoyed the space but weren’t there much.
The water smelt like sulfur and was a big turn off for my daughter. We would have loved written directions on how to operate the heaters and the TV but managed.
