About Jim & Peggy Seavey
Jim and Peggy have been married since 1985 and have made Newport and living on Sebasticook lake their home . Both grew up in the area, Jim in Newport and Peggy in the nearby town of Corinna. The lake has always been a huge part of Jim's life as he has lived beside it since he was a little boy. A lifetime of exploring on a boat or a snowmobile, Jim knows every inch of Sebasticook lake and all the history and stories to go with it! As a young man, he found a fixer camp of his own and eventually built a year-round home there with his bride. Together they raised a daughter with the same passion for the water and all it has to offer, that they have enjoyed for years. Peggy is an avid flower gardener and interior decorator, both of them share a passion for antiques, and Jim collects and restores old John Deere tractors and authentic and antique military vehicles At this point in their lives, they are thrilled to have found a cottage that they restored together and get to share with other families so they too can make everlasting memories of time spent on this beautiful lake!
Jim & Peggy Seavey purchased this Cottage in 2015

Wonderful cottage and beautiful view!
We enjoyed our visit very much! Would definitely come again. Lovely cottage, special touches, decorated beautifully, lots of activities to do at the lake. Lots of amenities. Very comfortable and would surely recommend to friends and family!
Perfectly Peaceful Vacation!
The property was even better than the pictures! We had a relaxing week enjoying the beautiful view, peaceful waters, gorgeous sunsets, all accompanied by the sounds of the loons! The week was just what we wanted and more.
The cottage was sparkling clean and the owners available if we needed them. We enjoyed the cottage and location and hope to return someday.
Thank you so much Jim & Peggy!
My family and I had the most amazing stay at Hart Cottage. The location is perfect because it’s close to stores and restaurants, but also tucked away and in a very private area on the lake. The cottage itself is stocked with everything you could possibly need. Jim & Peggy are great hosts and are nearby if needed. The sunsets are breathtaking over the lake. We spent most nights cooking dinner at the cottage so we didn’t miss them! This is a great place unwind and reconnect with family!
Peggy and Jim were wonderful hosts. They have literally thought of everything to include in their rental even including a basket of toiletries in the bathroom, should you forget something. I've never had a more well stocked kitchen in a rental. So convenient to cook in, eat on the deck followed by a fire in the fire pit.The cottage is so cute and wonderfully decorated. We paddled pretty much every day in the included kayaks and had a good laugh with my sister in the paddle boat. The fishing was wonderful - my husband caught quite a few bass, both from the dock and also from a kayak. Lastly, watching the resident bald eagle dive for his dinner and waking to the sounds of the loon family is what a Maine vacation is all about.
The property was as described. Clean and well maintained. It was well supplied. The only things we felt we could of used is more smaller glasses, and maybe a few more common spices. We would like others to be aware that it is not childproofed, and you should keep that in mind if you have little ones. We certainly understand that it is a cottage, and can't be prepared for all situations. The owners kept in touch with us to make sure we had what we needed, and that we were comfortable. The campground across had fireworks on Saturday night, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Other than that night, it was pretty quiet. We would definitely rent this property again!
Newport Maine 2 week vacation
5 stars all the way, beautiful, ultra clean, quiet and right on waters edge. Enjoyed watching Eagles diving for fish, Loons and ducks., kayaking and fishing, (which is great, caught some big Bass). Great antiquing, Near good restaurants, grocery, strawberry and berry farms, Bangor, lots to do. Peggy and Jim provided every thing you could possibly need and were wonderful. Can't wait till next year. Rod and Bev Schena
