About Lorin Miles

Our goal is simple: To provide all of our guests with the best experience possible in our spectacular mountain getaway. We are both successful business owners who know that attention to detail is the key to a memorable vacation. Being outdoors enthusiasts ourselves, we are in a unique position to help our guests plan their outdoor adventures. It is a pleasure for both of us to be able to interact with our guests and help them to plan an unforgettable experience! We strive to maintain our home meticulously and have built in all the comforts of a luxury home. You will find a big difference when comparing our home to others. Simply put, you will not find a better value in the area! Our view is the THE BEST in the lower Smokies! Our furnishings and decor are modern and comfortable. Be sure to read our previous guests comments near the bottom of our site and see why so many people return to our fabulous mountain getaway! Thanks, Lorin & Dawn Miles

Why Lorin Miles chose Franklin

Being avid outdoors enthusiasts, we could not have picked a better place to build our dream home! It is perfectly located between Franklin, Bryson City and the Nantahala River area. Hiking, rafting, fishing, waterfalls, mountain biking, gem mining, restaurants and great shopping are just a few of the things within minutes of the home. Our home is an easy drive from the Asheville or Atlanta airports and within a 6 hour drive to over 25 large cities! Our location allows you to feel like you are 'away from it all'... yet it is close enough to run in to town if you need anything. Our view is a live, ever changing canvas of National Forest with layers of beautiful mountains!

What makes this cabin unique

One of the main reasons we love our home is the access to the Little Tennessee River. The river flows just a 5 minute walk away from the home! It is one of the most majestic rivers you can find. Our relationship with the Great Smoky Mountain Fish Camp allows us to help you plan your river activities! Just ask when inquiring about our home and we will be glad to put you in touch with them! The home offers absolute tranquility. Fresh coffee and sitting out on the deck listening to the wildlife in the early morning is an unforgettable experience! Watch as the sun lights up the incredible mountain range! This has become a 'guests favorite activity'. We invite you to come and stay with us to see why!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Lorin & Dawn, The giant spectacular view that greets the first time

visitor to your franklin vacation home is absolutely stunning! It is something

that photographs (even good ones like yours) just cannot capture. Despite

this, I persisted in taking pictures from the deck at all times of the day, in

sun, clouds, fog and rain. The look and mood of the mountains is always

changing and always beautiful. During our week here, we traveled hundreds

of miles around North carolina through the national forests and parks. The

best scenery was always the view from your home, waiting right here for us at

the end of the day.

The home is attractively furnished, fully equipped and the interior decorating

is just right. The kitchen is great. The wall of windows brings the mountain

views in to almost every part of the home. I'm even going to miss the bear in

the bathroom, making his offering from the roll between his paws.

Congratulations on what you have achieved here. You were very smart to

realize the potential of this site, and bold enough to commit to a complicated

and undoubtedly expensive home construction. This is a special and

unforgettable place, and Kathy and I are very happy that we had the

opportunity to stay here. Best wishes!

Smokey Mountain Heaven is heaven on earth!!

  • 5 of 5

This remote home is every thing you might want to come back to after a day of hiking or investigating the many area attractions...It is every thing you would want if you just need down time. The owners are very attentive to insuring your stay is positively unforgettable. Great attention to detail, like luxury towels and linens. When you add the amenities of the home to the glorious view, there is nothing to compare..The view is like watching an ever changing mural of God's creation..This is the best experience I have had using HomeAway. AAA+++ Thank you Lorin and Dawn.

Owner's Response: Sandy, it was a pleasure to host your group and we truly appreciate your kind review of our mountain getaway. Your description of the view as "God's Mural" is so true!! My wife and I always call it the "ever-changing mountain canvas". You can look out one moment and see clouds drifting above the river and in the next moment see beautiful shades of light dancing among the mountain greenery. It's truly spectacular seeing it from the 30 foot tall deck! We take pride in offering amenities that are of great quality to provide a comfortable experience. We are thrilled you enjoyed everything. Thank you for taking wonderful care of our home and please return when you can!

We came in just as a snow storm was approaching the area. We were not particularly worried but our host (Lorin) thoughtfully called while we were driving up to check on us let us know of the inclement weather. The area received over 7 inches of snow the day we arrived. It was absolutely stunning. The home itself is perfectly set up to allow you to 'live' in the Smokies during your stay rather than just have a place to stay. We cooked every meal in the well-equipped and nicely layed-out kitchen. The location is remote enough yet not too far from town. We enjoyed walking our pups through the quiet neighborhood each morning. The loft bedroom is incredible giving us incredible sunrise views every morning. There isn't much more that I can rave about that hasn't already been said about this wonderful home and host. We would stay here again without a doubt.

Gorgeous views

  • 4 of 5

My favorite part about the house was definitely the view. The house was gorgeous as well and we made ourselves right at home. We didnt have any fire wood but thankfully there was some there when we got in which was fantastic! We ended up parking on the shoulder pull off because the driveway was a bit steep. My sister wanted to take a bath in the jacuzzi tub in the master suit but it was a bit dirty. She bought her own cleaning supplies to scrub the tub just to find out the jacuzzi tub doesnt work...that was a bit of a let fault to you, you never advertised a jacuzzi tub. Overall, we loved the hone and would stay again.

My wife and I stayed during the 2nd week of November. The fall colors were still beautiful and the views were amazing. I cannot say enough about how amazing the views are. The pictures don't do it justice. We highly recommend this cabin for a quiet retreat.

Perfect remote mountain cabin

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a well equipped cabin in the mountains of NC with an amazing view you have found the right place. Cabin has everything you need to relax and just look at the views. The view changes every hour of the day, beautiful sunset every night. We have travelled to many cabins that are high up on country roads, this one has a paved road! Hot tub was great, kitchen had everything you need, fireplace works like a charm. There is a charcoal grill, I would prefer a gas grill but to each their own, It is a wood cabin so I understand not having gas so close to the house. Little Tennessee river is right down the street. For the price, this is a great deal. There is plenty of space with an excellent layout. Our friends tagged along and utilized the suite downstairs that gave them complete privacy. Would book again! Thanks Lorin.
