Our staff loves this one! One of our most popular rental homes, Base Camp is open for business and sure to delight vacationers young and old. Upstairs or downstairs, beautiful views are provided on every floor. Base Camp is plenty "cushy" with king beds only, lots of TV's, WIFI, and a wet bar. Step outside to enjoy the firepit, gas grill and plenty more views! The well-equipped kitchen is sure to satisfy even the fussiest chef and the game room with air hockey, shuffleboard and a large TV will keep the gang busy while the kitchen magic happens! Base Camp is walking distance to a delightful petting zoo and horseback riding at Mountain Trail Rides! It is a quick drive to Canaan Resort's pristine golf course and outdoor pool for summer fun. In winter you cannot lodge any closer to White Grass or the slopes at Canaan and it is a short, easy drive to Timberline Mountain! Plan early. Base Camp is sure to become your favorite! Well behaved dogs are welcome with an additional fee.

This property worked great for us- a group of 7 and a dog. All bedrooms are nice (king bed, private bathroom except one be with own bathroom outside of the room); great hang out areas (main LV, loft has a cozy reading/work space, and basement has a large screen tv and play area). This house works really well for big groups- and is stocked really well with cookware, cutlery and ceramic dishes. Location is excellent. We would go back in a heart beat! Also, the property management was exceptionally responsive to any of the very minor needs we had while we were there. 5 Only suggestion would be to upgrade tv in main living room for easier streaming options

Perfect ski weekend

We wanted to be near Timberline so we can ski all weekend. Super close to Timberline and easy access, great roomy cabin with beautiful views. We loved it.

Base Camp was the perfect venue for our annual Dad-Daughter ski trip (3 dads, 3 teen daughters). The place was well appointed, very clean, great amenities and a gorgeous view! 5 stars!

First trip to Canaan

We spend every summer in WV but this was our first time visiting this part of the state and we are so glad we picked Base Camp to stay while we explored the area. The location was perfect, the house was just as shown and we will definitely be back. The only downside is that we didn’t stay longer.

Great place, great views

New construction with beautiful reclaimed furniture and features. One bedroom in the loft, one in the first floor/basement, two on the main floor. Scenery from the living room/dining area is spectacular.

The view from the home is amazing, directly between two ski resorts. We loved watching movies and playing games downstairs and the beds were so comfortable. We had camp fires and s'mores nightly. All this and our pups could join us, too. We are often limited with choices when we bring our fur babies and this home couldn't have been more perfect. Our family plans to stay here again for future family reunions. Truly a fabulous find!

Ideal spring break

This house really was the perfect base camp for our sprint break adventures in Canaan. It had everything two adults, three teen boys, and a dog could need. The boys enjoyed the basement games and hooked up a laptop to play games and watch movies (byo HDMI). We spent most of our time hiking or biking and the location was perfect for going to the big destinations-Dolly Sods, Blackwater Falls, Seneca Rocks. But we also found very nice trails off Freeman Road. Canaan Valley resort also had nice mountain biking trails. The house was pristine and had everything we needed- sheets, towels, blankets, pillows, fans. The kitchen was fully stocked but we did hit Davis for extra paper towels and foil. The grill worked well and just needed a little cleaning before use. The house is in a nice, new development with other houses nearby but it still felt private. The view of the horses and mountains in the back was superb. Can't wait to come back!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great stay at the Base Camp. Its location is perfect for skiing at Timberline and Canaan Valley, both are super close by. The house's layout was great for our group. It's decorated beautifully and equipped with all you need. The only thing we noticed is that the bottom floor and top loft area and bedroom were always cold. We didn't call the rental company to check and see where additional thermostats may be.
