Felt right at home in this spacious, warm and welcoming home.

  • 5 of 5

Our visit at Respite Lodge was the best ever. We entertained our TN family members in the comfort of this welcoming home. Our teen grandchildren enjoyed the versatility this home offers. Challenges at the pool table upstairs, battles at the ping pong table downstairs, puzzles on the dining room table and some major UNO and YATZEE games at the kitchen table. We all are looking forward to next year to enjoy this once again.

Beautiful home with an awesome view! Plenty of room, and the kitchen had everything you may need! The home owner was very nice and was always available.

Scary situation with owner

  • 1 of 5

We have had a lot of great experiences through HomeAway but this was terrible! The owner ruined the last day of our trip. He and a couple friends came to the property and stayed all day to do woodworking in the garage. It was loud and they set off the fire alarm while we had 2 babies sleeping. Later, after they left, the owner came back and said he heard a toilet running and that he wanted to come in to check. I told him we just had multiple baths going for the kids. I wasn't comfortable having him come into the house because there were a few naked children running around getting ready for baths. I tried to offer to check something myself (and would have been open to other ideas like maybe waiting a few minutes) but he would not listen to anything I was saying and forced his way past me into the house and into the basement. There is a separate door for the basement from the outside. If there was a legitimate concern, he could have gone in that door. I understand this is his house but when I pay to rent a place I expect a certain amount of privacy and we did not receive that. It was a scary situation to have a man force his way into the house. We are trying to forget about it and not let the situation leave a stain on an otherwise perfectly good vacation.

Owner's Response: Interesting review from this guest family. There was no forcing entry into the Lodge. I was simply concerned about leaking which would have been destructive for the septic system. To get to the basement from the front door is a matter of 6 feet. To go to the cellar door spoken of was a walk of over a 100 feet. This family broke things like a pool stick. Their children drew with chalk all over the driveway, the deck from one end to the other and then on the exterior surface of the log walls. It took me personally 3 hours to clean up the mess while my girls cleaned the rest of the Lodge for guests arriving the same night this family departed. When I mentioned all the chalk work they said that the rain would wash it away. I wonder how these sensitive people would have reacted if the Lodge was presented to them as they came with such a mess waiting for the rain to come. They also destroyed wood work that decorates the bunk room windows. They amaze me with such a review when they were so destructive. Guess they were upset because I charged them through the damage deposit for the mess they left and the broken items.

Wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Nothing but greatness! We are a group of siblings and spouses who take a vacation together each year. This year one couple was not able to make it, but we still had 11! Everyone fell in love with this house the minute we walked in the door! Rob was there to greet us and update us on the property. We all had plenty of space to move around and not get in each others way. We are deck-sitters, and this deck was perfect! Great view! The house was stocked with everything that we could possibly want. The guys had a great time playing ping pong and pool, and a couple of them tried their hand at fishing. Thanks so much to Mr. Silvera for being such a great host and allowing us to stay in his beautiful home. If we are ever back this way, we will certainly stay here again! Wonderful time had by all! One of the nicest experiences in our 51 years of marriage!

  • 5 of 5

I'm afraid to speak so highly, because we want to return next year, and I'm afraid Respite Lodge will be booked! This was a wonderful trip for me my husband, and a group of friends. Rob met us at the lodge and took us on the tour, and left us the keys and a number should we had any issues. There of course were no issues. This lodge was built with love. It is peacefully remote and I had no cell service, however the owners had an in house phone, which we were able to use if we needed it. Two refrigerators so that there was plenty of storage for everyone's personal items. We had our privacy, a beautiful view, and everything at our fingertips. Clean, and comfortable beds. 4 tv's with Xfinity and all the channels we could ask for, we could even record a show we might miss. A huge kitchen with an island that you need roller skates to get around. They provide soap and softner sheets for a huge brand new Matag washer and dryer, dishwasher cleaner, dishwashing soap, Dove in clean bathrooms. I could go on and on. This is a 5 star property hands down. Thanks Rob, and hope to see you again next year!

Beautiful home with a beautiful view. Plenty of room and lots of emenities for the young and old.

  • 5 of 5

8 adults and plenty of room for all! Loved the fact that there were so many bedrooms and bathrooms so that everyone had their own space. We enjoyed our week at this lovely home playing board games, ping pong and pool. Relaxing on the deck, cooking on the grill, sitting by the fire pit (could use some seating there) and watching the lake life. Only thing lacking was easy access to the water for swimming and play; it was a hot week so that would have been a big bonus. The neighbors were wonderful and allowed us to come over and fish from their property as well since there were only a couple places clear enough here.

The house is located close enough that we were able to take two day trips: Gatlinburg and Tellico Plains, Bald River Falls, Indian Boundary St. Park and the Cherohalla Parkway

Will definitely return in the future!
