Welcome home to your own peaceful oasis in the heart of Duck! "Happy Go Ducky" checks off all of the items on your wish list, while offering the comfort and serenity you seek for your Outer Banks getaway. This picturesque beach cottage is perfect for your whole family to relax and create everlasting memories. Cherish your hot summer days, cool summer nights, and the nights' sky from your private heated swimming pool or take a short walk to the beach access to explore the Atlantic Ocean.

The subdivision of Poteskeet features a private beach access and is conveniently located close to Downtown Duck and the Duck Town Park. Park amenities include a soundside boardwalk, amphitheater, public kayak/canoe launch, picnic shelter, playground, gazebo, walking trails and summer events. A seven-mile long multi-use path is located on the east side of Duck Road and provides a scenic and safe recreational venue for visitors to enjoy. Pedestrians, bicyclists and in-line skaters share the Duck Trail. This delightful home is just a short walk to the beach and 5 minutes to the shops and restaurants.

Duck is always great. House close to shopping and dining.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house has bugs. The first night one guest was attacked in the night in her bed. Maintenance response great. Kitchen had bad ants. We lost food that was left out. Some screens so could not open at night. Hot tub so hot could not use. Could not set temp. Otherwise, nice house. Boardwalk just down the street. No yard at all for the dogs.

Perfect week in Duck

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We just returned from a fantastic stay at Happy Go Ducky. The house has so much traditional OBX cottage charm and the owners have done a great job making sure it is well equipped; extra fuzzy blankets in the bedrooms, extra games in the bedroom closet, charcoal grill accessories, plenty of pots and pans, pool floats, beach cart, small mini fridge on the bottom floor for easy access to drinks while at the pool, boogie boards. The list goes on and on. We would sit on the top deck at night and watch the shooting stars while listening to live music from town and swam in the perfectly maintained pool every afternoon. (The pool guy was awesome and came mid week to check on the pool and hot tub) Our only complaint is that by the end of the week we noticed that the freezer had trouble maintaining temperature. Our bags of ice were melting and refreezing as a puddle in the bottom of the freezer. Other than that, our stay was perfect! Thanks for a great week!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Happy Go Ducky is a nice house. There are some things that would improve it: the stones around the pool under the house make it really hard to walk on barefoot to access the shower; putting a hose or spigot by the downstairs door would facilitate rinsing sand off when coming from the beach (due to stones being so uncomfortable), perhaps a different coffee table that is more pet and child friendly. The bath on the 2nd level which is shared by 6 people or so for showers is seriously lacking in places to hang all the towels and wet bathing suits. Furnishings and atmosphere are wonderful: bright and sunny. The deck is wonderful and I would love to love the screened porch but the air is quite still there (perhaps a ceiling fan?)

Room for Improvement

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house’s location and layout were perfect for our family (three adults and four children). It was convenient to both downtown Duck and the beach. The private pool was clean and refreshing and the perfect place to come back to after a long, hot day.That being said, there’s a lot that could be done to make this place perfect. The solar string lights meant to illuminate the pool area don’t work well at all. The housekeeping service leaves fresh linens beside the front door. As such, we had ants crawling in some of our sheets and towels. The furniture in the living room has seen better days and the decks aren’t very inviting places to sit and relax with few chairs or tables.Overall, we had a good experience and would stay again, since the price since the price was much more reasonable than other properties with private pools.

Liked the location in relation to town & beach. Just watch for burs on the vegetation outside. Had issues with the hot tub (service guy addressed). Porch was very dark at night to get in & out of hot tub, never found lights out there. We did like the hot tub on the porch. Advertised as pet friendly house but not pet (or young child) safe with beautiful glass tables in master bedroom & living room. Additionally not really anyplace for them to go potty outside as there is not a fenced yard or area. I was asked about housekeeping (review) I gave a lengthy review, probably a C minus on cleanliness. And did not hear from anyone. I’ve cleaned commercial & residential before & I know what’s acceptable. 4 foot long cobwebs hanging from the ceiling among a longer list of things that I stated on the review & cleaned myself while I was there. I left the house better than I found it. These things take a very nice house down substantially. Personally I will not stay at this house again.

When we arrived we found a huge pile of burned popcorn on the deck that we had to clean up as well as multiple bits of wrappers etc that were found behind the bed in the kids room. Also the array of pots and pans was limited to say the least. Looks like one may have been the product of the burned popcorn. We did enjoy the pool area, hot tub and the location was great. Home needs some updating for sure.

Dixie and Luna had a great time and spending time with my family. The house was cute, my only thing was the bathroom doors didnt lock but overall the house was nice, the pool was fun, the house was about .40 miles from the beach. I loved sitting on the deck, watching people go by, drinking wine. I would definitely recommend this house.
