Porter's Barn, where luxury meets seclusion on the water's edge...

There is a fanciful quality to this secluded property where nature's beauty and luxurious accommodations coexist in quiet harmony. Located on the banks of Holden's Creek, a headwater of the Chesapeake Bay and a 20-minute drive to the pristine white sand Atlantic beach on Assateague Island, Creek House Guest Cottages are private, convenient, and offer bespoke modern amenities. Explore life off the beaten path and take a true vacation. Whether you are kayaking or paddle boarding on the creek, sitting by the fire pit, biking down country roads or going to the beach, you will find plenty to do or enjoy doing nothing at all. The views of the creek are magical at any time of the day or night from inside your cottage or from any vantage point on the 3-acre property. The Cottages have been designed and decorated by a professional interior designer.

'Porter's Barn' has partnered with our friends at Sun Outdoors Resort (located less than 2 miles from the house) so that all guests may enjoy the fun resort amenities FREE OF CHARGE. This extra bonus includes a private beach w/ water rentals, pool, playground, "snak shak", comfort stations & more!

Shared amenities include: a gas grill, 20 ft. radius fire pit, 2 kayaks, a SUP, and 2 bicycles. There is a boat launch on the property and two docks (one floating). Linens and towels are provided.

Porter's Barn: 900 square ft. Full Kitchen and Laundry Room. Marble Bathroom. Sleeps 2 (Queen Bed). Outdoor Shower. Smart TV. WIFI

In addition to Porter's Barn, the compound is also home to two other luxurious dwellings: Hosta Cottage and Creek House. All combined, The Creek Compound will accommodate 18 with no parking problems. Please note that this listing is for Porter's Barn only; the other two homes - Creek House and Hosta Cottage - must be booked separately. A direct inquiry should be sent for special event pricing or if you wish to rent the entire compound.

- Linens and towels are included with your reservation.
- No smoking is permitted on the premises.
- This property is pet friendly with a pet fee per pet. Pet fee is $150 per pet. All pets must be disclosed prior to arrival. Limitations: one dog only. No pets on the furniture, please.
- Any reservations made for a future year (known as "Advanced Reservations") are subject to rate and availability changes. These reservations will be confirmed in January of the arrival year.

Absolutely one of the nicest places I have stayed!Quiet and peaceful, yet close enough to shopping, restaurants and entertainment. Beautiful views all day overlooking the creek. Perfect for a couples getaway.Oh, and the outdoor shower gets two thumbs up!We have already started the process of booking for next year.Thank you for offering such a wonderful cabin!

Amazing place!

If you want a place to just getaway, I recommend coming here. Beautiful view of the water and kayaks are easily accessible. Clean place, beautiful windows all around, and a fire pit outside! Will have to come back and stay here again.

A Relaxing Experience

I needed a place to relax after a very stress time. This location was PERFECT! Just what I was looking for. Planning to return. The pictures on Vrbo site and description were accurate. This was worth my 3.5 hour drive!

Birthday Getaway

If you enjoy wildlife this is the perfect place to stay. The windows from floor to ceiling made you feel like you were outdoors . We roasted wieners in the fire pit; hadn’t done in years and it was fun! Fishing from the dock was so relaxing. Jenny was extremely attentive to our needs and was lovely to speak with.

Really special place! The view of the creek and sunrise are wonderful. The fridge snacks were appreciated. The Porter's Barn has a stove, oven, fridge, and coffee makers but no microwave. Easy commute over to beach at Chincoteague. A small loveseat might better suit a couple. Would stay here again.

My husband and I had a very good time at this beautiful spot. The accommodations were tasteful and clean, and we soaked in the peacefulness and quiet of the woodsy, creekside setting. We took advantage of the luxury of being picked up at the dock for a scenic tour by boat offered by a local captain,(Holden's Creek Water Tours). It was great being near Chincoteague and Assateague Islands, yet having this lovely retreat from all the hustle. We recommend!

The Porter’s Barn is truly a magical place. Holden’s Creek just steps from the all windowed front make the views spectacular. So much wildlife to see being so close to unobstructed nature. The bay and ocean are just short drives away. Jenny is such a gracious host, and truly an asset to the area. Definitely a 5 star vacation experience. Can’t wait to return!! Beautiful natural setting

We could literally watch osprey chicks getting fed from the breakfast table. Millions of birds, fireflies, fish - a pleasure to just sit at the firecircle or kayak on the creek and feel like a part of it. Near enough to enjoy Chincoteague (beaches, hiking, birding, restaurants) easily while being able to escape the tourists staying in town. Jenny was very kind and helpful when we needed anything. The minimalist design aesthetic is very soothing. Highly recommend for solo travelers or couples looking for peace and time with nature.

Peace Getaway

I can’t say enough too things about Porter’s Barn. The location was perfect, it was quiet and so surreal. The house itself was adorable. We had plenty of towels and toiletries. There was wood for the outdoor fire pit, even some citronella candles available. We didn’t use these, the misquotes were out in full force and I get eaten alive, so we skipped the outdoor activities at night. Contact with the host was great, they always texted back with any questions we had. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend Porter’s Barn!

Perfect R&R

The Porter’s Barn is perfect for anyone wishing to escape, relax, and recharge! Beautiful sunrises and incredible birdwatching right out of the amazing windows of the cottage. We even saw a Great Horned Owl come down right in front of us at dusk on our last evening there! So nice to have the kayaks right there on the property for use, as well. The cottage was extremely clean and very well appointed with everything that we needed to enjoy our stay. The property owner, Jenny, was so nice and was quick to answer any of our questions. We are both public school teachers and staying here was the prefect way to mentally prepare for the upcoming school year. Bring on the kiddos!! Thank you, Jenny!

The setting is spectacular, with pristine views of Holden's Creek and beautiful wildlife. If you're seeking a remote location to relax and remove yourself from a hectic pace, this is it. The kitchen is very well outfitted with quality appliances, where one can prepare simple meals. There are Adirondack chairs around the fire pit, providing an ideal spot for unwinding and enjoying a beverage. (you may want to bring bug spray!) I would highly recommend this property for anyone seeking seclusion, but with easy access to route 13 and a 20 minute drive to Chincoteague. *Note that there is a nearby cottage on property with a long term tenant, but that didn't negatively affect us in any way. ENJOY!

Woodland Oasis

Our time at The Porter’s Barn was everything we dreamed of! The barn is so beautiful with concrete floors, spa-like bathroom, full kitchen with sleek appliances. It was so appreciated to have the kitchen stocked with several pantry staples, such as salt/pepper, foil, parchment paper, Keurig pods, and more. Full size stove top, oven, dishwasher, and all the dishes and pans you might need. The fire pit was pre-stocked with kindling & fire wood. Of course you need to come prepared to use bug spray, but that is to be expected with the beautiful wooded setting. I loved the outdoor ground lighting that illuminated the property at night. The wifi & cell signal is weak- which may be a good thing if looking to escape. Would not be an ideal remote work location. The owner, Jenny, was so kind, welcoming, & helpful with any questions we had. All of Assateague island can be reached within a 30-60min drive. There’s a Food Lion, pharmacy, sonic, & family dollar “in town” about 10-15 mins from the property. 10/10 recommend!

As always, Porter’s Barn did not disappoint. This is the second time we have stayed here and will again.Clean, private, close enough to restaurants and shopping. We bring our boat and use the dock daily.The only thing I would add is another chair to sit and look at the views out the front.Unfortunately real life and jobs cut our stay short by a couple of days, but we enjoyed it while we could.
