We enjoyed our stay here and it had everything we needed. However the cleanliness of the place was below average and needs to be improved.

Sleepy Kawhia
A great spot to explore Kawhia, hot water beach and easy walking distance to wharf to catch that fish. Compact accommodation, sufficient dor what we needed.
a very clean 70 year old bach that felt very safe and secure during the very heavy rain. The external renovations are a work in progress. would definitely look for this when we plan another trip to Kawhia

Enjoyed our stay. Needs an electric heater and mouse/rat traps
It was perfect for me and my lovely little family wish we could stay longer was a awesome getaway thanks for communicating made things easier to use in the house.
We were looking for a pet friendly break and got exactly what we were after. A great little bach in sleepy Kawhia. The hot water beach was great as were the takeaways at the wharf. A great relaxing stay and even better that the dog was welcome as well. A great escape!

Classic kiwi bach
Great stay, great location, classic kiwi bach. Reason for 4 stars is that there was a miscommunication with owner, oven didn't work, shower was a bit hard to use.
Over all we had a great time and had everything we needed
Not good,no hot water so couldnt shower no towels,no heating fire but no wood, broken window in kitchen, had to fix ourselves to stop cold,no hot tub as stated, power points in two rooms not working, not table inside of any sort no gas for bbq,no communication
as it says cosy and comfy...beds were super comfortable. it was quiet and homely, took a little bit to work out the shower and couldnt get tv to go, however if they left instructions on both that would help. great pressure in the shower , fridge had lots of little extras in it which would be good if we cooked and a great supply of milk. it had everything we needed and loved the style and bits and pieces in there .eg the record player and games books etc. thanks very much very helpful and responded quickly to our questions before arrival.would stay again. cheers

All good
Just a basic bach with everything we needed for a peaceful weekend
The bach is located in a very quiet street with a beautiful view of the mountain.
The kids loved climbing in the Pōhutukawa tree and using the swings.
The bach could do with a deep clean and fixing the shower but the owners have made a decent effort to put in new carpets, nice decor, good furniture and new appliances.
Kawhia itself is a beautiful little town and we loved going down to Hot water beach.

Okay
Was ok but cold wet wood no heat no tv was good 4 fisherman left 1 day early
Cosy, cheap and cheerful. Walking distance to beach and town. No internet or tv which is what we wanted, as we spent time together playing board games and being out and about together as a family. Watched DVDs, and spent quality time together. Host was great, excellent communication, nice neighbours and vibe. The place has a few quirks typical of its age. We went there not expecting the Taj mahal and we got what we were after, a hassle free, place to stay close to the beach. An absolute bonus we could bring our dogs! No complaints here.

Never again
Broken window in the kitchen no cover has huge hole, no firewood in the middle of winter and nowhere to buy it in town with no other source of heating. The linen on the two queen beds was dirty and smelt like they had been slept in by dogs, there was no way we would use the fridge that was there it was disgusting and to top it off the main bedroom smelt like a cat had pee'ed in there the smell was overwhelming.... All in all highly disappointed for the price
We went to Kawhia for a snapper fishing charter and to celebrate my 65th birthday, there were 4 adults my wife {65}, sister {66} brother {75} this property was selected because of the location and online of rating of 4.5, as we pulled in I knew from the outside first impressions issues strait away;
OUTSIDE
*Lawns unmowed, gardens a mess, rubbish around the
outside of property.
*The outside BBQ table unbrella was on the ground broken
with nails poking out, lucky my grandchildren
weren't there.
*As we walked to front door my wife slipped, I caught her
before she hit the ground, uneven and slippery walkway to
door.
INSIDE
*Fridge no milk, broken trays on the bottom
*Everything we had to cook in and eat off had to be washed
first, because of filth.
*The whole place needs a DEEP CLEAN
*Bathroom shower door broken, no soap, shampoo,
conditioner, towels and toilet rolls
Summary you lucky to get a rating of 1 from us
I think we were the first people to stay at this property, there were a few things that needed sorting out and the property manager was very responsive to that.
