Shorepine Retreat is the perfect space for a quiet, romantic retreat. With its wood-lined walls, beamed ceiling, rustic exterior, and oceanfront views, Shorepine Retreat has all the charm of a classic Oregon beach cabin, but all the modern amenities to make your studio stay downright luxurious. You’ll have the comfort of a leather sofa, woodstove, and flat-screen TV for cozy lounging, a small but updated and surprisingly well-equipped kitchen, dining space looking out to the sea, and a queen bed. A beautifully updated bath includes a slate-lined walk-in shower. An easy walk will take you to miles of sandy, level beach and views of the Yaquina Lighthouse; hop in the car and arrive in minutes at the restaurants and shops of Nye Beach, the Oregon Coast Aquarium, and the marina and quaint storefronts of the historic Newport Bayfront. The location of this property is amazing. The views of the beach and lighthouse from the large deck and the privacy make it a very special place to stay. It had everything we needed for a very pleasurable and relaxing few days at the coast. We would definitely stay here again when we're next in Newport. Finding the location was a little tricky because the address doesn't show up correctly on maps, but the property management company was very helpful when we called to get accurate directions.

A Gem

Perfect spot for 2. Quiet, secluded yet close enough to services and Old Town. We walked to the beach. It's a bit of a hike, but definitely doable. Everthing we needed was provided for us. Clean, good shower, good bed... A good spot for sure !

Relaxing

We showed up and the garbage outside was overflowing from the previous visitors. I called the # and also took a picture right away and was told that someone would show up to take care of it. This was Thursday. No one came and we had to add to the pile of overflowing garbage when we left. Otherwide, we loved how secluded it was. Great for just 2 people.

Beautiful

The property was exactly as listed; while small, we were perfectly comfortable. The big windows across the whole back of the house gave us a beautiful view of the Yaquina Lighthouse and the rolling of the waves on the shore was almost hypnotizing. It was an easy drive to Nye Beach and downtown Newport and all the grocery stores were close by. Don’t miss the aquarium, it’s amazing. If you have the chance have dinner at Zurita Tapas Restaurant. Delicious and worth every penny.

Enjoyed our time in Newport. Great location for seeing Depoe Bay and Newport. Enjoyed 3 days of seafood and a fabulous view!

This place has an amazing view of the beach and nearby lighthouse. It's a nice quiet retreat for a couple. Well managed and maintained.

Fantastic cabin overlooking Nye Beach. Complete privacy, framed by trees below and on either side, and off a dead-end road. It was like we had a little slice of the Oregon Coast all to ourselves.The west wall of the cabin is basically all glass, overlooking the deck and ocean. It is spectacular. The lighthouse is visible to your right. The bed was comfy, and extra towels and blankets were easy to find. The cabin was very tidy.Really, it's just a great place to chill, see the ocean, and cuddle with a loved one. My only forewarning is that one can only use Presto logs in the wood-burning fireplace. There are none that come with the cabin. And as far as I could tell, one can't buy them in Newport (at least on a weekend). I went to both Ace Hardware and Walmart and had no luck. If you can, arrive with your own supply of Presto logs, since a roaring fireplace would have made things extra special. Still, it's a fantastic little getaway. And makes for a perfect base to explore Newport as you are close to everything and have a perfect view of the ocean.

This place was our little secret beach bungalow Heaven. It definitely was not what we were expecting but we ended up loving it. It can be hard to find but this was something we learned to love. Note you should have a 4wheel or off the beaten path ready vehicle! The views were breath-taking! There is no beach access but it is close to access to Agate Beach. No AC but you don’t need it. However I wish the neighborhood/surrounding areas felt safe to leave the windows and doors open at night. With a wrap around deck we chose not to leave it open. The windows did not lock well either.

Tucked away with sweeping views and the only sound you'll hear is the crashing waves!

This property is even better in person. It has all the ammentities to be comfortable, the bed was comfortable, and the privacy and views were amazing. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat! Thank you for a great stay!

Cabin getaway with a few

Great little cabin with a fantastic view. Beach access is easier from Agate Beach, but Nye Beach is also walking distance. Internet is not sufficient for video conferences but fine for checking emails

Amazing soot

Great place. Besides all the BS fees, its pretty amazing. Super cozy. If they could cut away from the fees it would be a better experience. You literally pay just as much in fees.

Great! Will stay again. Cold weather guests FYI only use presto type logs in the fireplace and bring your own. For the host: would have been cool to have a couple logs provided :) we left one behind.

Your place is great! View, privacy, proximity to stores, etc was excellent. Biggest downside is the heater. It is loud with a clanking noise that suggests it’s breaking, it actually can wake you from sleep! Fix that and you are a 5/5z

Peaceful

What a cute little slice of peacefulness. You truly feel all alone with all the trees and bushes however none of them blocked the amazing views of the ocean. We saw several Whales while gazing at the ocean. The walk to the beach access is a short walk however it is on a fairly busy road, there is no trail or pathway so be careful as you have to walk on the road in several places. The only suggestion would be to have a screen on a window or sliding glass door so you can hear the ocean and not worry about the bugs or resident (and very persistent) squirrel getting in the house.

Ocean Getaway

We loved our stay here! We did have a hard time finding the cabin. We had to ask a neighbor how to find the cabin because the path down is really easy to miss and they don’t have any pictures of the entrance or front of the property on the listing. Super good location and a quick drive to tons of beaches. We loved Nye beach! The Wi-Fi is not “work from home” ready. It barely sustained Netflix, & does not load social media or search platforms well. If you need to work remotely or rely heavily on Wi-Fi, this spot won’t work for you. Those are our only complaints! The cabin is private, soooo cute, and the VIEWS are absolutely unmatched. The location is close to everything you could ever want, most restaurants/shopping/beach is within 5-10 minute drive. There was good shower pressure, the bed was very comfortable, no AC needed with the fresh ocean breeze. Couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else! We would definitely stay here again!!

Beautiful little coastal cabin

The view, the view, the view! AMAZING. The bed is super comfortable! It’s a little hard to find. Especially in the dark. Follow the written directions. GPS will take you off location. It has a nice little kitchen. Enough to cook in for the night. Quiet and relaxing. The only suggestions would be: they did not provide firewood. It was 55 degrees inside when we arrived after dark in a rain storm. Then realized there was no wood to start a fire. Had to go back out in the rain to track down some wood in a town I didn’t know after traveling all day. Has an amazing fireplace, but definitely plan for that. Being on the coast, it’s hard to find dry wood. There’s a Fred Meyer just up the road that you can buy some at. Also, they wanted to charge $50 for an early check-in. Just an FYI. Managed by a property management company. So it’s definitely lacking some personal touches. But, the location, the relaxation, and the view is definitely worth it!

Disappointing

This review is for those, like us, that love the ocean and are just looking for a quiet, ocean front place to stay close to Nye Beach in Newport. It’s also for Meredith Lodging. Hope this feedback helps you improve. POSITIVES The deck was a fantastic space to enjoy the stunning views of the ocean and Yaquina head. Appreciated the outdoor flowers. The deck chairs were fine, but the table for two was funky. CONCERNS Large ANTS, dead, dying, and very much crawling on floors and walls were encountered daily. Upon arrival, there were about a dozen dead ants around and in the main sliding door, ant traps under the fridge and bed. This explained the strong indoor pesticide smell. Below average level of cleanliness: Other than dead ants and old insect traps, the floors and flat surfaces were lightly clean. However, spider webs above the bed where the wall meets the ceiling, the layer of dust on the walls especially in the bathroom, obvious dust near the edge and under the bed. For both my wife and I, the bed was one of the worst we have ever slept on. The mattress was an odd combination of foam and box spring that provided zero support. Drapes on the main windows facing the ocean were frustrating to use. Blinds needed. There was a sign near the stove stating that we couldn’t use real firewood, yet there was no indication of this requirement in the emails leading up to the visit other than stating to bring your own, which we went to the trouble of bringing. We won't be returning.

Shack in the Woods with a view

Keep looking…This was a total let down. This should not be booked if staying more than a night or wanting basic things like a working fridge. Management not responsive, little to no follow through. Arrived to ants all over the counters, walls and inside the cabinets with the dishes. The fridge didn’t work. We contacted the management 3 times and never got any resolution, the owner said he came and reset it but it still didn’t work. Food and drinks spoiled. The shower backs up within 5 minutes so you have 5 min to take a cold shower. The bathroom fan that works with the light is on its last leg and screeches like an owl in a blender when it’s just turned on, so you can’t use the light at night unless you want to wake up your partner. All around the property looks to be under construction or not cared for. The door is an auto number key pad lock and started to die a few days into our stay so we had to have them Come replace the battery so we weren’t locked out. The owner did come and spray for ants after we had stayed a few days so this was a known problem. The views are amazing but honestly we rent a week to two each year and can get similar ocean front views without the headaches. The bed is super soft. The heater is a wall unit and ancient. If you want a fire that is great but have to purchase the special logs at $25 for 4. Also trash was full when we arrived so we put the trash out to the curb ourselves. Bottom line, would not stay again. Would not recommend.
