not impressed with the cook islands. the people were lovely. But - there was not much in the way of fruit and vegetables and groceries in the supermarket and what was there was so expensive, heaps dearer than in our supermarkets at home. If you didnt buy your food before 1.00 the bakeries were sold out. the bus service was hopeless, we waited over 30mins for a scheduled bus. No TV stations and very little WIFi the restaurants were more expensive than home, being Melbourne , Australia.the water was lovely to swim in and snorkling was good, but you need to tell visitors to bring reef shoes

Kia Orana Anne,
We appreciate your comments and we are saddened to read the negatives from your holiday here in the Cook Islands. Most of these comments are out of our control as an accommodation property but you have given us a bad review. We would like to provide an explanation for a few comments just to bring some understanding. The Cook Islands rely heavily on importing vessels from New Zealand which is why the prices are higher in comparison to Australia. The recent shipment had not arrived for a restock of goods for a few weeks due to delays & poor weather conditions. Our whole island was effected by the delayed shipment, locals, businesses and our visitors. During the month of April we were also in our peak holiday season, this would be one reason as to why produce & baked goods from our smaller local businesses were sold out by 1pm. We only have 2 public buses here in Rarotonga - an anti clockwise and clockwise bus. If you haven't checked the bus schedule for the day and timed it well there will be a wait of 30 mins. We also only have 1 local TV station here in the Cook Islands & have limited free wifi around the island - this is actually one of the reasons people visit the Cook Islands. It is the perfect place to disconnect with the online world and relax while on holiday. We did however provide you & your family with free unlimited wifi & a smart TV that you could watch Youtube, Netflix and Prime in our Turtle Villa - this was at no added cost as we have provided this for our guest as a complimentary service. We only have 1 network provider here in the Cook Islands & not every restaurant can offer to give wifi services to their dinning guest. We are pleased that you enjoyed swimming & snorkelling - we will take this into consideration for our future guest about bringing their own reef shoes.
We would recommend that you could raise your issues with the Cook Islands directly to our Tourism Office as a better platform than Vrbo.
We regret your low review of 2/5 of our Turtle Villa, for issues outside of our control, as our usual ratings from our satisfied villa guest is normally 5/5. We trust this explains our position and wish you all the best in the future.
