Hidden Gem Alert: The Creek House If you’ve been scrolling past the Creek House because of some older reviews—stop right there. We almost let those hesitations get the best of us, but I am so glad we took the leap. This place didn’t just meet our expectations; it totally crushed them!The House is a total mood: peaceful, beautifully updated, and the ultimate setup for a family reset. From the second we walked in, you could feel the love put into this home. It’s clear the owners have been busy—everything mentioned in past negative reviews has been handled. Youth Group Getaway

Amazing property, perfect for a youth trip. The location is amazing and I love the one story lay out with 2 living rooms, plenty of bed areas too. The property manager was very responsive to my messages. If we visit the Smokeys again I'd love to rent this exact home!

Anniversary Gathering

We loved the location, all the kids had a great time playing in the creek, all the adults enjoyed playing each other in pool. Only complaint I could possibly think of is, at the time of booking, the listing said there was a pull out couch; however, when we arrived we realized there wasn’t. We were able to figure out sleeping for our large group in the house though. Overall it was an amazing experience and we plan to come back again in the future.

Hi John, The homeowners were saddened to read your review, as they are accustomed to providing 5-star experiences, and would like to clarify the following: - This home relies on a septic system, a delicate setup prone to disruption. Upon learning of an issue, we promptly arranged for repairs within 12 hours, even on a weekend. - There are multiple other bathrooms that were fully functioning and not affected by the plumbing issues. - The home is older and we work meticulously to keep it maintained. Our stay was very disappointing due to several unresolved issues. The master shower head and sink constantly dripped, and the heater in the game room/garage didn’t work. We were told it would be fixed, but no one ever showed. The tiny heater provided was broken, and the backup heater didn’t heat the space, making the room unusable.Multiple bedrooms only had sheer curtains, offering no privacy or light blocking. One bedroom had a full slider door with no handle or lock, leaving holes that let in freezing air all night. We reported it and were told it would be fixed same day, but no one came.Two out of three bathroom exhaust fans didn’t work, the front door wouldn’t lock unless pushed from inside, and even then it often failed. The air filter was filthy despite new filters being available.We also found clear orbeads scattered on the patio and near the creek. These are extremely dangerous for kids and pets and should never be left outside.Overall, the property felt poorly maintained and unsafe, and most of the issues we reported were never addressed.
Space heaters we were told to use to heat the whole garage. Small one is broken and does not work. So we lost the 4 beds for the kids to sleep on and had to send them to another room that was just as cold.
The light is so bright we had to find a way to keep the light out of the room. Kids didn’t sleep well for the first 3 night and it was noticeable
Apparently we are not the only ones with this issue, we found laundry clips already when when we went to try and make the room darker
Door that is unsafe and allowed freezing coming into the room.

I’d like to address the points raised in your review to clarify the situation and provide further context.- We apologize for the plumbing issues. Our maintenance team was not made aware of these problems during your stay, and had they been reported, they would have promptly resolved the situation. We encourage guests to communicate issues as they arise so we can address them immediately.- Regarding the heater in the game room. We scheduled maintenance to assess the situation, but it appears there was a miscommunication about the timing. We provided a backup heater, and we wish we had known of its condition sooner so we could have provided a suitable alternative.- We acknowledge that some bedrooms have sheer curtains, which can affect privacy. We are currently replacing those window treatments to enhance guest comfort and privacy. After investigating, the only room that faces the outdoor front entrance light is affected, and that can easily be solved by turning those particular lights off.- The slider door issue was noted, and we are sorry for the inconvenience. We had planned to address this, but were not able to do so before you left. We have since addressed this issue and have done the repair to the door.- Our maintenance team has confirmed that the front door sometimes gets misaligned, and that was the issue you were facing when trying to lock it. We will address this issue and see if we can make the door more user-friendly. It does lock and is very secure. The security of our guests is a priority, and we take your comments seriously.- For the exhaust, some bathrooms are not equipped with fans, and some are; there are options for a heater exhaust for added comfort, which may have been confused with an original exhaust fan.- We strive to maintain cleanliness and regularly check air filters. Your observation will prompt us to ensure our staff is adhering to our maintenance schedule more thoroughly.- We take safety concerns very seriously. Our team conducts regular checks of the property grounds, but we will enhance our protocols to ensure such materials are addressed promptly in the future. Unfortunately, sometimes the team can miss such innate objects, especially if they are outside the home, in the orbeads case.- While we deeply regret that your stay did not meet expectations, we appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention. Your experience does not reflect our standards, and we hope you might consider staying with us again to see the improvements we make.Thank you for your understanding.

Home is beautiful and inviting.

The home, and property have plenty of things to do for folks of all ages. It's inviting upon arrival. Overall we had a wonderful experience during our stay. My grandson and nephew loved the arcade game. The adults played countless games of pool. Everyone enjoyed the hot tub at least once, but most went in numerous times. We did, however, have a few concerns; there were only 10 bath towels left for our family that was registered as 12, home is listed as sleeping 16. There really should be a minimum of 20 bath towels between the 3 bathrooms. The master bathroom has a double shower, while a great gesture, one of the shower knobs are completely broken off, so there's no way to adjust the water temperature once it's turned on. There's also blue stains all over the sink, counter and shower tiles in the master bathroom, not a problem, just for reference so we aren't charged an additional fee for something that's already there. There was only 1 new roll of toilet paper in each bathroom, again we were registered as a family of 12.None of these things were detrimental to our stay, just slight inconveniences. We would definitely stay again if we plan another trip to Tennessee.

Great house on the river

We loved this house. All on one level.. plenty of space for 16 of us. The kids room was a hit! They all loved it. 8 of them in there. The bunk beds are a little wobbly and made some squeeking. So the bigger kids took the bottoms. The hottub was a huge success. I loved all the sliding glass doors to access the river. The kids had a blast walking on the rocks and wading in. The swing set needs repair. I don't want to say take it down because the little kids loved it. But it needs some reinforcing. We have some handy men and if we had tools would have screwed some extra boards on forsure. But we will be back forsure!

Nice for the kids

It was a great location for the kids to play with the stream right outside in the back, the big kids room with games and bunk beds, and a swing set in the front. From the picks on line it’s hard to tell the swing set is in the front of the house and not in the back where you can easily sit and watch the kids play. The kids didn’t end up using it very much because of that. The outside screened in patio was nice to sit in and hear the stream but not get eaten by bugs and the fire pit with wooden chairs and benches was perfect. There were a few minor mishaps while we were there, the hot tub spills a lot of water on the ground and it tended to be wet on the back porch, the AC unit in the kids room started leaking and we had to call to get it fixed, there were a lot of cobwebs in the light fixtures and on the back porch and the white dining chairs had stains on them and seemed pretty wobbly when sitting in them. Overall those things were pretty mild and we had a great stay. The kids had so much fun together there and didn’t want to leave. Great family rental for anyone with younger kids and pets.

Spring Break

Arrangements and booking was very easy. The property was as stated in the description. 5 bedrooms was perfect for our family of 12. The kids enjoyed their bedroom with games and plenty of room to play. We took our dogs and the Brittany loved running around the property and playing in the stream in the back. Heating/cooling and all appliances worked perfectly. The only small complaint was that the cooking skillets were still greasy when we took them out to use them but we would have washed them regardless. A storm with high wind came through one night and knocked a small tree into the power line over the parking spot, and a much larger tree on the side of the driveway got blown over slightly. It ended up leaning against some other trees and the base started pushing up on the driveway. Called to let them know and we were contacted promptly. No damage to vehicles or property. Overall a great stay and we would certainly book again as this home is great for a large family.

Picturesque and Perfect

This exceeded all my wants about seeing Tennessee in the snow and in the winter !! The place was perfect in location . Not to far from both towns and not so close that we had to deal with the traffic of tourists . When we got there , we got to meet Ellen who takes care of the property and she was AMAZING. She was getting the hot tub ready because we got there in 10 degree weather and snow. I’m suspecting she was there because we got there early. Everything you can expect to need was there. Coffee , pots , dishes etc … it had a very big cozy resort feeling inside.This place was huge , it was just me and my husband but there was rooms on topof rooms . Tvs were everywhere ! There were also lots do around the house for all ages… The creek in the backyard was so beautiful especially the noise. It was too cold for the fire pit and snow ( i’m a floridian ) but I can imagine the comfort and cozy in less than frigid temps Spoke to the owners at the end of the stay and they were very kind and down to earth and I felt they just wanted to make sure our stay was great. I know some want cabins in gatlinburg but as soon as you go in you get that feel , this was way above my wants and expectations we definitely will be back !!

Gatlinburg Getaway

Our stay at this property had its ups and downs. The property's stream side location was amazing! Our children loved playing in it daily after adventuring out. It was also close to downtown Gatlinburg, & not far from white water rafting locations while still being far enough out of all the action to be a quiet retreat. The house itself was clean & good for accommodating 2 sets of elderly parents due to it being on one floor. The kids enjoyed having their own play & sleeping area. However, that is where where it the pros end. From our first entry to the home, it smelled very musty & the air handler in the main living room was rattling & blasting loudly. The bedroom walls are very thin! You could hear coughs and snores from the rooms next door & down the hall as if you were in the same room! In the bunkroom, the fooseball table needs to have the handles replaced, as there are sharp edges on the metal handles. The fixtures in the master bathroom showers were falling apart & you could not regulate the temperature for the shower well because of this. The shower floor in the bathroom within the laundry area needs some non-skid flooring protection, as my elderly father slid while taking a shower due to its slippery nature. The kitchen is not fully-equipped, there are many dishes and cups but cooking utensils, measuring cups, etc are not there. The air handler rattled loudly & you had speak loudly while in the living room to speak to each other. The spa was cloudy.

Hi Alaina, We want our guests to rest easy when they stay with us, and we apologize you experienced some issues during your trip. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:-We apologize for the musty smell. Being in the National Forest, our home is surrounded by trees and wilderness. The smell might be due to doors or windows being left open. The air handler is new, but we've sent a technician to inspect it. Maintenance will also replace the Foosball table handles.-There are several non-slip mats for the tubs and showers located under the sinks; I apologize if the guests didn't notice them. The kitchen is usually well-stocked, but occasionally utensils may get thrown away. We have a fully functioning dishwasher with quick cycles for convenience in case of a shortage of clean dishes. I hope this feature was helpful for the guests.Thank you again for providing such valuable feedback.
