Tranquil Island Hideaway w Private Beach, Dock, Stunning Views, Access by Boat

Bedrooms 2
Half Baths1
Property type villa
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

Villa w Private Beach, 2 King Bedrooms + Day Bed, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

Diamond View, has all the characteristics of an ideal tropical hideaway. It has panoramic views of Tortola and the uninhabited islands and crystalline waters of Sandy Cay, Sandy Spit, Green Cay, and Little Jost Van Dyke.

The villa features 2 double bedrooms both with king size teak beds, a recently-renovated bathroom, an atmospheric outdoor shower, wrap-around sun deck, and a fully-equipped kitchen.

It is a great place to get away from it all and take in some of the finest views in the region. The beach is only a few minutes amble down the hill. Spend the day relaxing on the estate's private beach or take a stroll down to the dock and take out a kayak to explore the mangroves in the bay. Then kayak on to Foxy's Taboo for a delicious lunch and cocktail.

Diamond View is an excellent location from which to spot the BVI's fantastic birdlife, including Carib hummingbirds, Brown Pelicans and the territory's national bird, the Bananaquit. Wonderful stargazing, too.

Access to the estate is generally by boat only, which makes for a uniquely private and tranquil setting for your vacation. We have kayaks and snorkel gear available to explore the mangroves and surrounding bays. We can arrange a rib rental for exploring further afield.

Our onsite managers Nadine and Leroy, will meet you at the dock and drive you up to the villa. They are on hand to offer advice and assistance.

About Jane

Our family purchased this house in 2004 as a place to escape to and relax together. Our children have spent many happy holidays exploring the reefs, cays and sailing and kayaking in the flat waters off the dock. Jost Van Dyke has some of the finest and most secluded tropical beaches, snorkeling reefs, and beach bars in the Caribbean.

What makes this villa unique

Diamond View offers breathtaking panoramic views of surrounding islands and the cool trade winds make it a delightful place to spend time. This home offers complete privacy.

Nice stay but know what you're signing up for.

I recommend these villas for travelers that like adventure, silence, romantic getaway or a group of people that really get along. Sandy Grounds has 5 villas over looking the Little Jost Van Dyke, Sandy Caye, Sandy Spit and a few other islands. Each villa has an average of 2 rooms. We stayed in the Diamond View villa which happens to be at the very top of the hills. When I say the top I mean, leaving the bar at 2am, taking a taxi and walking 30 minute through a goat path and up 3 three steep hills to your accommodations. My calfs were in the best shape of their life after this trip. While my group got along well, we like to turn up and mingle. The view is the main reason to stay at this property. The other reason would be the unbelievable private beach.

Arriving to the property with luggage and/or groceries is best done by water taxi. You then hop in a pickup truck with the property manager and he'll drive you up the hill.

The most accessible bar or restaurant by foot is Foxy taboo, which is about a 30 rough but scenic hike.

Con: The villa needed some deep cleaning and there were too many insects and lizards. More than average in the caribbean. Outdoor shower needs light.

Fabulous Views

  • 4 of 5

Diamond Villa is one of five or six villas part of the Sandy Ground Estate located on the quiet east end of Jost Van Dyke. The views from Diamond Villa are outstanding and the lanais situated perfectly for the sea views by day and stargazing at night. There is a private beach for guests (we saw two other guests once during our two week stay) that is lovely, with chaises and good snorkeling. You can rent a dinghy from Leroy the manager or Jane/Roy the villa owners. We highly recommend having a boat during your stay, as everywhere on Jost Van Dyke, including: Great Harbor (Foxy's and provisions, the ferry to West End, Tortola), Little Harbor (Peace and Love, gas dock), Foxy's Taboo/the Bubbly pool, White Bay Beach (Soggy Dollar Bar, Hendo's, great snorkeling), Sandy Spit, Sandy Cay, Little Jost Van Dyke (the B Line) and nearby Tortola, is best accessed from Sandy Ground by boat. You should also book a daysail to Norman Island/the Indians for the best snorkeling. They pick up in Great Harbor, JVD or West End, Tortola (you can take the ferry from Great Harbor, JVD to West End, Tortola). Order provisions beforehand from RiteWay and have them delivered to the villa. I would recommend this villa to friends and relatives with the caveat that the bugs/no-see-ums are no joke and you should spray Off or some other deterrent nightly and also that the hike up and down to dock and beach is quite a workout. However, we found this helped to assuage any guilt over our many key lime pie desserts. The real luxury at Diamond Villa is the relaxed setting and the views. Go for those and you will be delighted.

A dreamy holiday with a view to match.

  • 5 of 5

My time at Diamond Villa was the most exciting and relaxing I'd ever experienced. The house was so comfortable and the views breathtaking. I'd never before been so happy to sit and stare out a window for hours on end. Once I'd had my fill of the gorgeous scenery from the comfort of the villa I would be inspired by the warm sea breeze to visit the isolated beach, hop into a hammock and enjoy the view all over again. Diamond Villa provided all creature comforts you could want on a holiday and I had great fun cooking in it's kitchen and showering outdoors. Sitting out on the verandah for breakfast, lunch and dinner were one of the highlights especially in the evening when the stars were shining and the moon reflecting off the sea. I dream about returning to Diamond Villa, let's hope it will be a reality one day!

Great get away from it all

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I have stayed at this home a few times over the last 5 years. The family continues to do improvements which keeps us coming back. There is now a lovely covered porch with comfortable furniture to sit with a good book, cup of coffee and watch the boats go by below. The kitchen is equipped to cook meals so there is no need to go out. It is off the beaten path which we like - quiet and makes us feel like we are away from it all. Foxy's Taboo is great if you do want to eat out or have a bar experience. There are lots of places to visit in Great Harbor and White Bay but you'll need a taxi or rental car to get there. It is a hike down to the beach so you need to be prepared with good shoes but the beach is quiet and has nice sand.

One of the best ways to experience the British Virgin Islands!

  • 5 of 5

What an excellent location and convenience taxi ride to all of what Jost Van Dyke has to offer. Amazing views in every direction and short walk to a completely private beach! We have stayed here numerous times with and without a boat. Short walk or swim to Foxy's Taboo and quick taxi everywhere else on the island. Amazing snorkeling right off the beautiful beach and fast internet access! The home is tastefully decorated and is high on the hillside to catch the amazing breeze on those hot days. Highly recommended experience for your visit to the BVI.

Absolutely Idyllic

  • 5 of 5

A gorgeous house is a peaceful setting, with stunning views. The house is clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated and well equiped. Fantastic, secluded beach. Great for kids with lots to explore and interesting wildlife. Or for a relaxing or romatic break, away from it all. Wholeheartedly recommended.
