Had a great time. Highly recommend this rental for fishing and boating. Great location leading into Boom Lake and close to downtown Rhinelander. The retro vibe was cool. Very spacious, easy parking, Big screen TV, and King size bed was comfortable. The property manager was very attentive and helpful.

Enjoyed how unique the house is, the houses history, and location. It is very obvious the owners are putting in the bare minimum to keep renting the property. No soap/shampoo in bathrooms, two bath towels per bathroom, cobweb remnants on paneled walls, cheap beach towels, and exterior furniture has seen it's better days.
We LOVED our stay in this historic, former supper club. Its close to town, on a lake, and PLENTY for the kids to do with a pool table, foosball, and tons of board games! EVERYTHING was provided, including life jackets for the canoes, collapsible lawn chairs for the 4th of July parade, cushions for outdoor seating, roasting sticks for campfire marshmallows, and even a foldable cot for one of the kids. Laundry was on site, the beds were comfortable, quiet location, and the propety manager was super responsive if i ever had a question! I literally cant think of a better place to have spent a week in Rhinelander. LOVED our cabin! The only thing i wish they would address is that the house is big enough to host a family, but literally nothing in the kitchen is big enough to cook for a family! A large pot and colander for making pasta would be great! (Small issue considering how awesome this place was overall)

Family vacation
Bar room with pool table and the living/dining room are spacious and good rooms to gather and play games. Location is perfect with a public boat launch 300 feet away. More care could be taken to clean the unit. The outside has huge potential but it seems there is not much care for the outside. The shubs, weeds and vines are over grown and obstruct the lake view and give little room for an outside table.

Quirky with charm
The property was clean. The quirkiness was fine but the house needed updating. The primary bathroom needs to be updated. The carpet needs to be replaced. The light hanging in the kitchen with an extension cord can’t be to code..?
The “3rd bedroom” does not have its own entrance-you have to enter through another bedroom. That’s not explained anywhere. The outdoor rails are very shoddy. We were way overcharged for what we got.

Response from VrboOwner on 19 Sept 2023
Hi Dana, we’re sorry to hear your stay did not meet your expectations. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
- This historic house, built in 1909, once served as the Pine Lake Inn in the 1920s through the 1960s when it transformed into Dick & Dolly's renowned supper club. We have diligently preserved and accentuated its Mid-Century Modern interior, which may not appeal to everyone's taste.
- It's important to note that we market it as Mid-Century Modern, signifying its vintage character rather than a modern design. We use professional photographers so we can be sure that our images accurately reflect each property and guests can decide before booking if the décor meets their expectations.
- We successfully passed our annual inspection by Oneida County, most recently in June 2023. The mentioned light fixture, dating back to the 1960s and imported from Austria, meets all relevant codes. Additionally, the choice of carpeting in the bedrooms is intentional, as it provides extra warmth during the harsh winters of the North Woods region.
- We're currently updating our listing description to ensure clarity regarding the bedroom layout. Please note that the third bedroom is accessed via the second bedroom. A sliding door between the two rooms provides for total privacy. The railings in question were installed in November 2020 when we purchased the house. They've been inspected and do not require replacement at this time.
Thanks for your valuable feedback as we continue to improve for future guests!

We had a family getaway with our two children and grandchildren. They really enjoyed playing pool and there was a lot of space in the house. Everything in the house was provided that you would need for a comfortable stay like: dishes, towels, soap, games, fire pit, grill. The Coutch is bit too retro, not comfortable. The Docks had one available that was recently repaired so it was in good shape. One dock was tilted sideways a bit so not safe for the kids to be on and the third dock was barricaded off due to it was unsafe due to it being tilted and wood was a bit uncertain. The lake has very high iron content so it is very reddish brown. Not something you would swim in if you wanted to swim. Kids were a bit disappointed about that part. There was a row boat which is in need of repair. It started taking on a little water once put in the lake. There is also a canoe privided. This was in good shape and life vest and paddles provided. Over all it was a spacious place with nice view of the lake. Due to the high iron content in the lake I would not be inclined to head back to that lake.
