About the host
Hosted by Linda Bayles
My name is Linda Bayles, and I've been a Realtor in the Jacksonville/St. Augustine area, ranking in the Top 1% of Agents since 1998. In 2005, I stumbled upon a 1926 beach house on St. Augustine Beach, and it sparked a passion to create vacation spaces for large extended families - a place where brothers, sisters, cousins, grandparents, uncles, and aunts can comfortably come together to reconnect and enjoy each other away from the demands of the outside world. Coming from a big family of 5 children, as does my husband Brad, some of my fondest memories are when we all got together to simply hang out for 3 or 4 days. The little ones always come up with a play, and the adults gather in the kitchen, passing down family recipes and playing games. Our favorite is Rummikub, and I make sure there's one in each house. Once you experience it, I hope it becomes a cherished part of your St. Augustine stay.
So, I bought that 1926 Craftsman at 2 1st Lane, gutted it, and turned it into The Chautauqua, which sleeps 21. It has been a rewarding success. In 2011, my father expanded the tradition and bought four homes on one Oceanfront lot just 9 streets north at 2 9th Street. I spent the next year remodeling them into The Seaside Cottages, ranging from 1 to 6 bedrooms, accommodating 2 to 19 or a total of 35 if you rent them all - ideal for family reunions. The best part is not only the homes but the BEACH. There are only 18 streets on the "Best Beach." No cars. The ocean right at your door. Wide with great sand to make Sand Castles. And Great Restaurants within walking distance. It's amazing!
Then I discovered the charm of Downtown St. Augustine. At night, it is like strolling in an old European city. So in 2016, I renovated and moved into the Main House on Lemon Street and renovated four more Downtown Vacation Rentals: The Guesthouse behind Lemon (sleeping 2 -14) and the Historic Lady and Guesthouse at 28 Riberia, just 2 streets south (also sleeping 2 -14). Both are an easy walking distance from St. George Street, the center of Historic Downtown with all the Restaurants, Sights, and Music. It has been great for Downtown Weddings, with the Bride taking one house and the Groom the other.
And now, after 1.5 years, I have finished my final project at 28 Saragossa, just 2 blocks away. This is a magnificent 1885 three-story Victorian. I will live in two units and have two 1-bedroom units that will sleep 4 each available for Guests. That makes my home (the Lemon Street Retreat) available (3 BD/3 BA sleeps 6) separately or with the Lemon Guesthouse where it would sleep 20 combined. Together with Riberia and Saagossa, that gives 42 Guests in a 2 street radious. Please come join me.
My Goal is to provide the best vacation location possible. I hope you will stay with us and create memories you will cherish for a lifetime. Feel free to reach out to me anytime. I am always avaiable.
At your service,
Linda Bayles
PS: I am also a Realtor, so if you fall in love with the area as much as I did, I would love to help. I work primarily as a Buyer's Agent - there are not many of us out there. Most Realtors work as neutral Transaction Agents. You can Google 'Buyers Agent' to get an overview of the difference, and I believe it's significant. Just ask yourself one question, "Would I want the other side's Attorney to represent me?" No! That's it in a nutshell, but the amazing thing is, unlike Attorneys, it does not cost you anything to have your OWN Realtor representing YOUR interest. We are all paid by the Seller. So, I would love to help if you are thinking about buying or selling in the area. Just call, and I will send photos of what's available. Once here, I will give you a tour of the area and take you "shopping." We can see about 4 properties per hour, and you have me as long as it takes. Looking forward to it!
